I could never get into Majora's Mask. It's a beloved game for sure, and I do like how it's got that darker aesthetic and stuff, but I got stuck very early on. Not only could I not find the first dungeon or whatever side quests I could do, but the three-day time limit kind of made things more complicated for me, even though I know that you can restart to day one. Many of the other Zelda games are a lot more straightforward.

I have a hard time getting into a lot of RPGs, too. Mainly because of how long/complex many of them are, so they can be quite intimidating for me. It's a big reason why my backlog is massive, lol.

Rocket League is another good example. I love the concept of that game, but I found it to have a surprisingly high learning curve. I keep missing the ball, so I'm not in control of it like 95% of the time...and I'm not sure if I'd be patient enough to learn most of the ins and outs of it.

Zelda (runs and hides) haha

I've tried to get into BoTW 2/3 different times and I just can't for one reason or another, and it's a shame as everyone raves about the game, but it does nothing for me

Same. lol It's one of those "popular game franchise that everybody loves so I feel the need to play it to fit in but am not really interested in it" game titles. xD

@Maxenmus I played through SMT V only, and it was a fine experience. The Storyline didn't persuade me, but the difficulty and especially the demon interactions were quite fun! Though, if the other games are even harder and have less QOL stuff, i might not play those either

@Solaine Oh yeah, that's a bad, bad beginner entry for SMT newcomers IMO, SMT V. It's also a good one because it's probably the most accessible game on a gameplay and QoL level, but the story is pretty bland compared to even Nocturne, which I consider to be beneath SMT IV and Strange Journey Redux in terms of storytelling quality.

Feel free to give either SMT IV or SJR a try on the 3DS if you ever get the chance. SMT IV is technically "harder", I guess, but only the DLC bosses. The main storyline bosses are manageable so long as you know what you're doing; it's just the DLC bosses that are punishing. Doesn't help that some crucial parts of the lore are shown only in the DLCs. But I didn't mind because the story and universe of SMT IV won me over so much I was willing to push myself for the story.

Strange Journey's story drags a bit, but I feel like it's easily much better than SMT IV's story by the midpoint of the plot, which is where I'm at. It takes a bit of patience, but I feel like it's worth it as its themes, characters and plot are all very engaging on an emotional and human level. It's hard to explain why without giving it away, but it's also another title I highly recommend.

@Maxenmus I mean, i am a big Zelda Fan, but i am not sure how much of it is because i just played it since a young age. Also Zelda games can pretty much be seperated into 2D, 3D and Open world style which appeal to different people altogether

@Maxenmus If it is really like that, then i will probably try SMTIV or Strange Journey some time, like you recommend. It is not that expensive and gives me a good reason to dig out my 3DS again, so thanks! Probably still gonna take a while till i can try it out with my recent backlog

Yeah, I'll probably give the 3D BotW a try some time. Not sure how well that will integrate me to the 2D Ocarina of Time though...

@Maxenmus Probably not at all. Ocarina of time is pretty dated anyways, i recommend Twilight Princess or Wind Waker instead if you really want to try the "old" 3D games out. Wind Waker is more fun and colorful, throwing you right into the adventure while Twilight princess goes a bit darker with a pretty slow and sometimes padded first half, but it is still my favorite Zelda somehow

You lost me at fun and colorful. lol

But seriously though, TP sounds more like my jam. I prefer darker and more mature stories, even if some detractors on Reddit have called TP, and I quote, "...it felt really empty by comparison (to Wind Waker). It was like a giant world with very little to do."

Nope, typically I enjoy most any kind of game genre. My dislikes tend to lean more towards publishers and the variety of games they offer. Companies like Outright Games, Milestone, Bigben Interactive (now known as Nacon), Cosen, etc...have a tendency to publish games that range from mediocre at best to straight shovelware trash at worst. In particular, Outright Games are this generation's LJN, they do licensed games all day every day.

Look in the lower-right corner and....buyer beware.
