I have so many;

Rhythm games, just cant play them, I've tried so many times, they look so cool though, I am actually musically challenged.

Isometric strategies such as disgaea or fire emblem, so many aspects I love about them and I loved advance wars back in the day but I just cant seem to get into it.

Deck building games, I loved the pokemon trading card game on gba back in the day.

Honestly so many more, I could go on and on.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I must have restarted that game 3 or 4 times and each time I just drop off after about 5 or 6 hours... I am not sure why really.

@Blue_Rover Its funny you mention that game as I usually struggle with that sort of thing myself but I really got into it when it came out. I only stopped playing because I just couldn't handle the framerates anymore. Or it was xenoblade chronicles x actually.

@Ironcore
When you play rhythm games, listen the music and recognize the music pattern first so you will understand how to execute the prompted commands exactly.
Don't too focus looking at the screen to press the buttons, listen the music first to let your body part press the button according to the beat and look at the screen with half blank stare.
If you are good at Math and Art, you are also good in Rhythm.
The easiest rhythm game you can try is Dance Dance Revolution.

Btw, I still terrible in playing golf games like Mario Golf 3DS and Golf from Bomberman Battles PS2 or Mini Golf from Go Vacation.
I'm good at Math but I'm terrible in calculating the vector direction + wind speed + required power to hit the ball.
I mostly got Boogey Wonderland all the time (positive scores).

@Ironcore Yeah maybe one more time and it will click. I do find my taste in games changing as I get older so maybe I should try again! I really enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles on the new 3DS so I thought no 2 would be a no brainer.
I am however dreadful for finishing games. I buy more games than I should and then drift from them generally quite quickly...

Harvest Moon is one series that comes to mind. I tried getting into it, but it's just so hard to make sure you do all the right tasks in a sufficient amount of time and not miss any important items or events, as well as opportunities to date a girl in each game.
Other than that, can't think of anything else.

Xenoblade Chronicles is one that I just don't think that I could and I want to try it but I don't want to spend the money on a game I might not end up liking.

I am not good at twitch games, platformers can be so frustrating for me. I suck at FPS. Then Zelda.

Simulation games in general like The Sims and Planet Zoo. Having the freedom to create a zoo of your dreams sounds fun on paper, but I felt bored so easily no matter how many times I played Planet Zoo after a few hours. I'm someone who needs directions in games to make my journey feel meaningful (instead of feeling like it's just me messing around for my own gratification).

The Sims games fascinated me too with their sandbox freedom, but they got boring fast too for the same reason as I have no active imagination, and even if I do, creating soap-opera stories (which is what most of the Sims base games seem to be designed for minus the expansion packs) just isn't my cup of tea, and taking care of my Sims feels like a chore, like I'm doing a job with no pay.

I think with other game genres I did genuinely want to get into though, like turn-based combat games, I did eventually get into them after I got older. I still haven't played any Final Fantasy games, but at least I don't mind turn-based combat anymore thanks to Shin Megami Tensei games. You eventually ease into the genre you've avoided if your desire to play those games is strong enough.

It's the same with visual novels too. I hated reading - probably still do - but I eventually pushed myself to read through those chunks of text just to get to the heart of those awesome stories like Higurashi, Umineko, and Fate/Stay Night. And I've barely scratched the surface too as there are literally hundreds of other fantastic visual novels I've yet to read.

I've played a lot of Metroid games in my time (the original, Super and the demo for Dread) but I just can't get into them no matter what I try. I'm considering playing the original again since I've never actually beaten it but I think Metroid as a series is something that I just can't bring myself to enjoy from a gameplay perspective. A shame but hey what can you do.

Xenoblade Chronicles. While I loved the sequel and XC2 prequel expansion, the original game is just off-putting, somehow. I've tried and failed three times to get into it. I bought the remaster at launch but haven't played it yet. I'm hoping playing the Definitive Edition will finally sell me on the game.

XCX also couldn't maintain my interest, although I'm much less compelled to finish that one.

Also wish I could enjoy traditional fighting games more, but for some reason, the gameplay just bores me to tears.

I'd love to be better at shmups and rhythm games, but I'm content to play them extremely casually and admire people who are masterful at playing them from a distance.

@Fizza Ever tried the Prime games? They're different enough that you might still be able to enjoy them.

@Ralizah Yeah, I've considered trying them out but I'm personally holding out for a potential Switch remaster before committing to anything. I'm a big fan of shooters myself, even if that only includes a very select few games like DOOM and especially WinBack (seriously, if you have NSO EP, PLAY WINBACK. It's one of my favourite N64 games of all time) so maybe I just need to try out a different side of Metroid in order to actually like it.

Persona. I tried 4 and quickly lost interest after the first few hours. The gameplay and especially the story didn't really grip me. I am gonna try again with Persona 5 and hope that it sparks my interest a little more. It sure looked great on first glance.

Final Fantasy Tactics and similar tactics games like tactics ogre. I keep trying those cause of the usually quite interesting story of different nations and characters, but i just suck at the strategy part and don't really enjoy getting good enough cause the animations are just too boring for me. I know this is a weird reason, but out of those i probably only love fire emblem so much because of its flashy presentation. Though managing the relationships is great fun as well.
Strategy games in general are so interesting, but it is usually too much for me at the beginning and i don't invest enough time to really understand its gameplay enough.

A while ago, i would have said The world ends with you, as well, but now i pretty much gave up on it

I hope someday I actually get into one of the better popular F2P games. So far not had great luck with those type of games, though Fortnite is...fine, I'm just not into the slow and crafting aspect of what it is.

The main one is the Trails series though. I can't possibly fathom getting into that series, but I love what its going for and how far it has gone as a series. But actually seriously trying to get into it would be like trying to get into the MCU now if I'd never seen a movie from it before. And since I'm already into Xenoblade, that's another way too much JRPG from one series already. There's also quite a few non-Xenoblade JRPGs I want to get to beforehand anyway.

Jrpgs. I played a lot, but recently they seem hard to get into. I tried to play Bravely Default 2 and I lost the notion to keep playing after just three to four hours. They simply feel grindy and the tone is often too dark and serious. The battle mechanics also don't feel like fun. I kinda like the simple battle mechanics like Dragon Quest. Final Fantasy X battle mechanics were really fun. Still I feel like I am missing out on good experiences. I am still unsure whether I should buy Xenoblade Chronicles 3 or not.

I wish I could get into strategy games, both real-time and turn-based.
I've tried many times in the past with games like StarCraft, Command & Conquer, Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre,... but I always quit a couple of missions in. I'm terrible at them.

@Solaine Have you tried the mainline SMT titles? Some of them do offer more intriguing and unique storylines than their popular Persona cousins like Strange Journey Redux and SMT IV.
