Retro is probably just working on two Donkey Kong games. One is 2D and finishes the DKC Returns Triliogy, with the return of King K Rool. The other is 3D and is a sequel to DK64... what else could they be working on lol
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I'm gonna be totally random and say they are working on a couple of projects. Balloon fight sequel of some sort. Ice Climbers game. Lastly F-zero. basically forgotten series that I think retro will restore them to their former glory. Wishful thinking anyway.

Donkey Kong Country 3 with the return of Kremlings and King K Rool, and even better level design than Returns and Tropical Freeze put together! I mean, you're only one game off a trilogy, why not finish it in style?
But part of me still hopes one of their games in future will be Wario Land 6. Always thought Retro would be great for that series.
@CM30: I would love to see a new Wario game. Wario land 2 was one of my 1st gameboy games and my most favourite after the Pokemon series. Nintendo has so much potential in their IP's its crazy, hopefully we get a whole lot of games like this on the NX. I will be so pissed off if we get a Mario Bros NX
@haigh1011: I hate to tell you this but there will certainly be a Mario Bros NX, mainly because the 2D incarnation of the plumbers sell so well. The Wii U game is one of the best selling on the system to date. As long as they produce a REAL 3D Mario game I am fine with another 2D game also. But that won't be what Retro is working on.
I would like to think Nintendo have got them working on a new IP, something that isn't family orientated but one aimed at wowing the more "mature" audience (wish there was another word to describe that market). And it will be an NX launch or near to launch title.
@FragRed: I know retro isn't working on that, i'm more saying nintendo has so many good IP's they should start making new game instead of just making sequel to everything. Yes Mario bros U is one of the best selling tittle on the Wii U but it still hasn't sold that well in term of units sold.
I don't think Nintendo is working on a new IP, Just something that hasn't been around for a while and they are giving it a face lift

5+ million are impressive, regardless of platform sales. You can't really expect a game to sell 20 million copies on a console that sold a little over 12 million units.

Nintendo are very much working on new IP. They set up six Garage teams made up of young developers with the sole purpose of creating new IP with Splatoon being the first of the games.
Anyway, part of Nintendo’s perceived problem with attracting larger numbers in sales wasn't just the continued use of Mario and Zelda, nor was it just because it had no real third party support. It's also because Nintendo haven't really produced any first party games that would appeal to the market of Xbox and PlayStation, with the odd exception of a couple of funded games like Bayonetta 2 and Devil's Third.

Octane: If they had some better games they might have sold more console instead of just bringing out updated ports of old games
I don't think software is the issue. They've got some amazing titles on the Wii U. I guess you're talking about the Zelda remakes when you're talking about ports? But those games sell anyway, so I don't see the problem there.
@Octane: I think software is a massive issue. Don't get me wrong I love my Wii U and the games I got but I feel all the games I got, I've already played on my Wii. Like no new 3D mario game (3D world doesn't count), Zelda, Metorid, and were only getting Star Fox and Paper Mario at the end of it cycle.
I'm just getting over playing the same type of game, they just don't feel like new games on the Wii U
@haigh1011: 3D World does count. Galaxy 2 was almost just as linear, if that one counts, so does 3D World. And we are getting a new Zelda game..
I'm not sure I agree here. Because either they're new experiences on a Nintendo home console; games like Captain Toad, Splatoon, Rainbow Curse, Bayonetta, Wonderful101, etc. or they're huge improvements over previous installments; Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3 or Mario Kart for example.
Some games are just what they are; sequels. My Wii library is my biggest, but probably my least favourite. I think they're doing fine with the Wii U.
I would love for it to be Eternal Darkness.Remember Nintendo renewed the trademark for it last year?If anyone's going to bring it back I think it will be Retro.Nothing says "we're serious about winning back the gamers" more than launching with a right proper scary 1st party horror game. With the NX apparently going to be connected in someway to multiple devices, they can go crazy with the sanity effects.Imagine your phone ringing when you're in the middle of a really tense section, that alone will make you jump, you pause it then answer the call only to be greeted by this ghostly voice telling you "we're watching you" ,you turn around to see something ghastly flashing up on your PC screen, you're about having kittens in fear then all of a sudden the game un-pauses itself and what was on the PC then appears on your TV,savages you and "you're dead, game over"
@iKhan: Shh, we don't talk about that game here.
(i still want it to be something they canceled and redo it.but im cool with a new ip or whatever the is going to be.)
