@Professor_Plumber pffft, GTA 5 port for $40, you can get it for $10 on Amazon and Steam.
I know....
But Switch
I think we'll get GTA4 instead given that's not playable on PS4/PS5 at current. A fair amount of this porting 3rd party multiplatform games to Switch strategy is not just about Switch but that it also fills in gaps that PS and/or Xbox has.
could the next mainline Legend of Zelda on Switch sucessor, have a more realistic art style?
Personally I'm hoping the next game is 2D and I want something cute or maybe a really unique artistic style. I hope Nintendo doesn't go the boring realistic art style direction PlayStation games seem to like.
It's a weird one. While I wasn't particularly hyped about TotK because it kept the open world format of BotW, it came to mind that given the next Zelda is likely around 6 years away (keeping the open world format pretty much gives that away) that I'd be better off saving TotK for later. I ended up choosing FFX-2 as my Switch game for the gap prior to The Teal Mask.

That new South Park Snow Day game looks amazing. Too bad I'm not a multiplayer gamer cause it really does seem like it would be a blast.
Red Dead Redemption is only 11.5 GB on Switch. That's incredibly reasonable. It's probably because it's more of a port than a remaster. Which is a bad thing if you're a PS gamer, but incredible news if you're a Switch gamer. It ensures file size stays small and performance meets expectations. We all saw Alan Wake Remastered. Low res and shaky performance, despite the original game looking and running brilliantly on Xbox 360. That happens too often when releasing "remastered" 7th gen games on Switch. It doesn't always turn out that way, but it happens enough that I always maintain I'd rather have straight up 7th gen ports on Switch.
Problem is, there's a lot of ppl with fragile egos who take video games too seriously that feel insecure when a 7th gen game gets remastered, but the Switch version is just a port. "Why isn't the Switch version remastered?!!" or "This is lazy trash, giving Switch gamers a simple port while everyone else gets a remaster!". Sigh... ignorance. They don't care how the game looks or plays. They just want to feel like they're equals with everyone else. What good is a "remaster" on Switch if it has to tank resolution to 480p in handheld and drop to 20fps? All so you can brag about getting "full parity"?
Screw that nonsense. Gimme a straight port. Don't weigh it down with refined geometry and particle effects and heavy textures Switch can't handle, resulting in an "equal version" that looks and runs like a boar's rear end. Just port the 360 version, which was designed ground up for hardware roughly on par with Switch. Geometry designed for hardware around power of Switch, memory usage designed for hardware with 20% the usable RAM (which gives ample overhead when porting), textures created for hardware roughly on par with Switch, file size targeting hardware with similar storage to Switch.
And by doing so, the little bit of improvements Switch does have over 7th gen consoles can be used to ensure the resolution increases from the 540-720p of the 360 version to 900-1080p docked, 600-720p handheld. And can be used to ensure framerate improves over the 22-30 fps pf the 360 version to a smooth, locked 30fps on Switch. Or at the very least, drastically improve the framerate so it's far more stable than the 7th gen version.
Good examples of this are Skyrim, Resident Evil 5, LA Noire, Bioshock Infinite, Dragon's Dogma, Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection, Assassin's Creed Rebel Collection, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, Ni No Kuni, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Sniper Elite v2 and Sniper Elite 3, Saint's Row 3 and Saint's Row 4, South Park Stick of Truth, Crysis, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3, Tales of Vesperia, and I'm pretty sure Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City will be top candidates for this list when they release.
@Grumblevolcano
That's very true. Capitalize on Switch while also ensuring its a product that can squeeze some extra sales on PS/Xbox.
I'm not really a GTA gamer but I would definitely play GTA4 or GTA5 if they were on Switch. And honestly I'd be just as happy with GTA4. It's a quality game and often overlooked. But I also think GTAV on Switch is a possibility too. If it comes though, I suspect it'll be a cross gen release after Switch 2 is out. Maybe even a Switch release that's BC on Switch 2 but holds a solid 1080p (since Red Dead PS4 doesn't get any improved performance on PS5 that I'm aware of, I doubt they'd do anything to improve GTAV on Switch 2, assuming it's a native Switch game running on BC, aside from dynamic res naturally staying locked to 1080p).

Hoping we get a 2d zelda next as well. I kinda wish we didn't get the oracle games dropped on us and they remastered them instead. It was all there ready to go after LA remaster.
@FishyS i was hoping Nintendo remade the Oracle games, but with Oracle of Age/Season now on NSO, Nintendo missed the oportunity to remade this games on Switch
Yeah, outside of potential WW/TP HD ports, the next Zelda will definitely be 2D.
It's probably going to be at least 4 years until the next new 3D title (maybe longer. I doubt they'd back away from the absolutely massive & open ended approach of the last 2 games given how popular they are, yet they'll probably have to make a completely new world from scratch as I can't see them reusing BotW's Hyrule a 3rd time).
In the meantime have whomever made Link's Awakening remake give the same treatment to Minish Cap, or let them make a new 2D game entirely (kinda mirroring how MercurySteam was allowed to make Dread after Samus Returns remake).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
@Link-Hero Next year seems like a gimme, in that regard. Especially if, as most of us suspect, 2024 is the year when Nintendo is going to release their next console.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@RR529 That's Grezzo, who also made OOT 3D, Majora's Mask 3D, Four Swords Anniversary Edition and co-developed Tri-Force Heroes. Unfortunately, I suspect they might be the ones doing the Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon port, but maybe co-developing a new Zelda might be possible if that's true?
@link3710 Just checking Next Level Games website and they haven’t updated it with anything related to Luigi’s Mansion 2 so I can see it being handled by someone else. Though I thought Grezzo were working on a none Nintendo game? Maybe I’m thinking of another developer.
