Mario is sort of like Mickey Mouse: easy enough to impersonate, so it doesn't really matter who plays him. The importance is the character, not the voice behind it.
inb4 they hire Chris Pratt to voice Mario in the games now lol.
@Tanookduke I think Mario and Luigi will certainly be the same actor.
Provided they can get the nuances between the two right which I trust Nintendo would have thought about greatly.
Wario and Waluigi stand a better chance at getting a seperate voice actor/s but again I think Nintendo would have searched greatly for someone who can do all 6 (including the babies haha😅)
@Ralizah people would probably love it despite what a boring voice acting he is but it’s Nintendo, they are not gonna spend that kinda money on a voice actor. At best they will hire a Chris Pratt impersonator from Cameo.
Makes me happy seeing Red Dead Redemption at #4 on the eShop in just 72 hours.
With 130 million consoles sold, there's a large enough install base that realistic AAA games can thrive on the system. That wasn't the case for a very long time. And when Switch originally launched, we were all apprehensive about what kind of 3rd party support we'd receive when it came to mature, realistic AAA. It's why Skyrim and Doom were such a big deal, despite Skyrim being so old and re-released so many times beforehand. Because for a Nintendo system, that was a massive win.
I remember LA Noire releasing and 20% of its sales in the UK were on Switch that first week. Which is a minority stake for sure, but given the install base globally was barely 10-15 million at the time, the majority of whom were early adopter Nintendo fans with a proclivity for 1st party over 3rd party (especially 3rd party AAA), and the fact the UK was Nintendo's weakest market, I was actually quite impressed it managed to scoop up 20% of the launch week sales. I knew then that Switch was gonna break that long-standing stigma of "Nintendo fans don't buy 3rd party games". And with each passing year, 3rd party games have performed better and better.
We witnessed firsthand with Koei Tecmo bringing their games to PS and Switch day and date, and at first the PS version would outsell the Switch version in Japan 3:1. But as the years passed, Switch started catching up and now, their games typically sell most on Switch, sometimes by a wide margin.
I'm sure mega publishers and devs of big AAA titles were reluctant to trust their games could do well on Switch with the Nintendo audience that "only buys Nintendo games". But as the years passed, and the install base grew, and more and more mature, 3rd party AAA released on Switch with satisfactory sales, that attitude changed. Now, 2k is like yup, let's bring Borderlands. WB is like yup, let's bring Batman Arkham Trilogy, and the new Mortal Kombat cause why not. Rockstar is like yup, let's release Red Dead Redemption. Konami is like sure, let's do all the past Metal Gear Solid games (can't wait for volume 2). EA finally said screw it, let's port Frostbyte and release a proper FIFA with parity (my bad, "FC 24").
The Switch has finally fulfilled its destiny as a portable Xbox360 (or portable PS3, if you prefer). I've maintained 7th gen AAA are a perfect fit for the console. Those games were built ground up for hardware roughly on par, and with Switch more modern and a bit more powerful, they can typically run at native res with rock solid framerates.
All those killer 7th gen games have made it over or are coming. Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection, Assassin's Creed III, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Assassin's Creed Rogue, Batman Arkham Asylum, Batman Arkham City, Bayonetta, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands, Borderlands 2, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel, Burnout Paradise, Call of Juarez, Catherine, Crysis, Crysis 2, Crysis 3, Dark Souls, Darksiders (we won't mention DS2 as that port is rough), Diablo 3 (wait, was that a 7th gen game? Maybe not), Dragon's Dogma, Final Fantasy X/X-2 Remastered, GRID Autosport, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, LA Noire, Metal Gear Solid 4, Metro 2033, Metro Last Light, Naruto Shippuden Trilogy, Need For Speed Hot Pursuit, Ni No Kuni, Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge, No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2, Okami HD, Persona 5, Portal, Portal 2, Red Dead Redemption, Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Saint's Row 3, Saint's Row 4, Shining Resonance, Sniper Elite v2, Sniper Elite 3, South Park Stick of Truth, Tales of Symphonia HD, Tales of Vesperia, Skyrim, Valkyria Chronicles, Zombie Army Trilogy...
Obviously it's not BC with a 360 so it doesn't have everything. Each game must be separately ported. But it's got and/or will have a good chunk of the best ones. There's only a small handful of 7th gen games left that I still really want. Notably the Mass Effect Trilogy, and Wolfenstein New Order. But aside from that... we've pretty much got em all. At least, all the notable ones I'm personally interested in. I'm sure if I scoured a 360 list I'd find plenty more, but those are the only 2 I really, really wish were on Switch. And thankfully, both are on Steamdeck so, all is not lost.
But ya. What a killer system Switch turned out to be.

I got Red Dead last week, full £££ of course (!), and honestly don't really begrudge the admission price too much.
There is a lot of talk about this being a 'lazy' port... when in fact, it is actually just a 'port'. If RDR was being pushed as a remaster, with same product being released, then you could certainly coin it a lazy remaster.... but as a port, it is absolutely acceptable.
I've never had a chance to play/own this, and therefore thrilled it is on Switch.
However - I don't gladly accept the pricing model touted by Rockstar, and do understand why this is so divisive. In a way, had they released this game at a 20-25£ pricepoint then they would have been heralded as heroes! A shame though that the slightly greedy pricing has dominated the narrative here, when in essence we have a solid port of a great game on a brilliant platform...
Watched Kinda Funnys podcast about thier top 10 2d platformers. Not that they had the definitive list, but nearly all, if not every game they listed is on switch. Good for us 🙂.
Makes me wonder what my top 10 2d platformer list would look like.

@NintendoByNature Just 2D? That's hard, especially since you have to decide if you include metroidvanias and rogue-likes and such; most 2D action games have some type of jumping. I find that my love of literally any game goes up if you can jump; even the fact that you can hop over holes in Animal Crossing New Horizons made me happy.
You should try to come up with your top 10 and post it! Here is the list I thought of after thinking for 5 minutes. In no particular order:
Mega Man - not sure which is my favorite but it deserves a spot.
Shantae - same comment as above.
Super Mario Brothers 3 - a classic.
Super Mario World - Mario deserves multiple spots.
Super Mario Maker 2 - limitless games in one.
Rayman Legends - best music levels.
Ori - insanely beautiful.
Rogue Legacy - love the absurd double air dash triple jump combos.
@FishyS oh boy, it's going to take me a few. I'll probably think system to system and pick 1-2 from each. I'll probably leave off metroidvanias like kinda funny did. It's kind of its own genre really Even if some are platform heavy like ori or guacamelee which are 2 I adore.
I think that Steamworld build is going to be my next purchase. Provided it runs well on Switch.
