@IceClimbers Pretty much this though I don't think Microsoft will lay low for a few years. SEGA's tone recently towards Microsoft for example sounds like close to acquisition kind of talk (Bluepoint shortly before Sony acquired Bluepoint comes to mind).

The Activision acquisition being approved will have a domino effect where Sony makes some defensive acquisitions with what they can afford meanwhile Microsoft makes more big acquisitions until regulators say no.

Who cares about Call of Duty, the real scary thing is Microsoft owning Candy Crush after the Activision acquisition. Soon it will just be embedded in Windows. Want to use Microsoft Word? Better beat a level first. 🧐

@Grumblevolcano To reiterate, I wouldn't worry about it. Microsoft won't be able to make another acquisition of this level after everything that happened and how much they've already paid, and whatever Sony can offer can't be worth more than keeping the Switch playerbase - except maybe for individual games that would struggle on the system, but a more powerful successor is on the way anyway. And that's not getting into how much of a headache it would be for a western company to attempt to acquire a Japanese one.

@BrazillianCara Sony and Square Enix are both Japanese Companies. I agree with the rest of your point though.

How long is the Pikmin 4 demo? It's getting frustrating constantly seeing people pick the Wii U tracks in MK8 Deluxe online when wave 5 tracks are available to play so I'm trying to figure out whether to play the Pikmin 4 demo or start another game and save Pikmin 4 for after completion.

Finally finished Breath of the Wild and now I can move on to Tears of the Kingdom.

Great game overall, I had a lot of fun and the world and its shrines felt more interesting the more I played. However, the story, divine beasts and Ganon were all quite meh... I also miss all the Zelda elements they threw away to try this new approach.

Hopefully they can find a better balance in a future game, giving us an open world while retaining dungeons, bosses and an immersive story.

@Grumblevolcano Pikmin 4 demo is pretty tedious from my experience so far. Lots of start-stopping. You can't move more than a few steps before the game takes over and stops you to deliver a cut scene or point out an item that you should interact with.

Just heard that Need for Speed Most Wanted is coming to current consoles.

Awesome.

Then I heard it's a remake, which means it probably won't come to Switch until the next hardware.

Which is less awesome but still cool.

I feel like I played most wanted at some point. But the peak for me was Underground. Absolutely loved that game and sucks dozens of hours into it.

I mean... the first few minutes were that way. I went in expecting to be a bit disappointed by the game, but I ended up thinking it was one if the best demos I've ever played.

@NeonPizza Just for clarity re. Pikmin 4 Demo, I'm not writing off the game and will certainly be getting it, but 27 minutes playtime into the demo for me and it's still tedious e.g. there's a part where you emerge out of an underground section back at surface level, have a cutscene to click through, it then gives control to the player to apparently explore the next area, only for another cutscene to trigger within about 5 steps of setting off. Whoever oversaw that section of the demo/game should be shot - why are you giving me control for only a second? It's so frustrating.

I'm confident once I break free of this introductory stage things will improve, but I think Nintendo have been a bit sloppy about the lack of player agency this far into a demo - quite possibly going to put more people off than convince them to buy.

This morning I was thinking "hmm, I like tactical rpgs. let me have a look at Gloomhaven."

Errrr, perhaps not. It looks to be more complex than I'm willing to commit to.

I wonder what's going on with N64 games for NSO, it's been over 3 months since the last one.

Grumblevolcano

Fizza

@Grumblevolcano I'm kind of wondering what's going on with NSO in general to be honest: we're halfway through the month and we still haven't gotten a single game across ANY of the apps. Usually we'd have something like the NES/SNES/GB lineup and/or a GBA/N64 game if previous trends are to go by but we haven't had anything since the last batch of Mega Drive games on June 28th.

and yes I am getting quite antsy because I WANT TO PLAY AMAZING MIRROR SOONER RATHER THAN LATER GODDAMNIT
