Few things about Super Mario Bros Wonder I learned from the recent NintendoLife video that are actually really hype:
1) No timer! This is a pretty big change for 2D Mario 2) No more collisions between characters in multiplayer. 3) P-speed returns! Just like in the old games. Will flying also return? Be it with a cape, racoon tail or some new item?

Idk, this sure looks like a daytime countdown timer to me. It even has a sun symbol and red area when it's close to dark.
Not to mention, in order to have night time missions, there has to be day and night cycle. And since only glow Pikmin can be used at night, the normal Pikmin will therefore have to get in the onion before sunset.

Hey everyone, just wanted to pop in here to ask a quick question.
I pre-ordered Ghost Trick back on June 10th and the preload for it should be going live either today or tomorrow, meaning my payment will be taken and I'll be able to download it ahead of it's release on the 30th. Now, seeing as this is the first time I've ever pre-ordered a game digitally, I'm still a bit unfamiliar with how things work in regards to it, namely in one particular aspect: how do I download the game after the payment for the pre-order has gone through? Will it just appear on my Home page once the payment is taken care of or do I have to go to it's eShop page and download it from there? Again, I'm very new to digitally pre-ordering stuff so any help is greatly appreciated XD

@JaxonH I think you misunderstand what I mean. There's obviously still a daily time limit, but there's no countdown each day, whether it he a hard 30bday limit or juice.
@Fizza
It's all automatic. As long as you're connected online, you'll see the icon pop up on your main menu with a download bar. Heck it may already be downloaded by the time you turn on your Switch.
Even so, you can always manually trigger a re-download of a purchased digital game by A) going to the game's page on the eShop, and if it's not downloaded yet, then instead of "Purchase" it'll say "Re-Download". If it says "Purchased" that means it's already downloaded or is currently in the process of downloading. B) You can select your eShop user icon in the top right corner of the eShop, then select "Re-Download Software" to find a complete list of games you own digitally that are not currently fully downloaded. Games which are fully downloaded and installed will not appear. Be mindful of the fact that if any DLC you own is not yet installed, it will show up in that list, and clicking the download icon will trigger the remaining digital content to download and install.
@FishyS@JaxonH Thank you, that's a wonderfully in-depth explanation of how it all works! One final question if you don't mind: you know how when you turn your Switch on it takes a minute for it to connect to the internet (assuming you aren't using an Ethernet adapter)? Will it start downloading the moment it detects the presence of an internet connection or would I have to go to the store to download it in that scenario?

@Fizza fairly sure it checks every few minutes similarly to how it tries to backup to NSO every 10 minutes or so. Although with pre-orders I've had mine just magically appear while the Switch was asleep.
@FishyS Oh so it's essentially like a game update in the sense that it'll happen in the background so long as you're not using any online features during it? That makes a ton of sense, thank you!

As soon as you turn your Switch on after the preload period, it'll already be installed and will pop up a notification stating it completed downloading and is ready for release day.
You never have to worry about manually triggering preload downloads. Though again, even if you needed to, it only takes 30 seconds to hop on the eShop and hit the download button manually.

@JaxonH Unless your storage is always full like mine so I have to archive something everytime I want to download a new game. 😝 Although it tries to automatically download, it just gives up.
Playing through Fire Emblem on the GBA service right now. it’s absolutely crazy just how many critical hits Lyn’s Mani Katti lands. I’m gonna stick to using the iron sword for now to save durability on Mani Katti, as good as it is.
@FishyS
Haha I've actually had that happen before.
This new 1.5 TB micro SD has been putting in work, though I'm down to about 90 GB free space on it. Hoping that's enough for Pikmin 4, RainCode, Persona 5 Tactics, Sonic SuperStars, Super Mario RPG, WarioWare Move It, MGS Collection vol. 1 (which itself is like 54 GB total), Super Mario Bros Wonder, Dragon Quest Monsters, Batman Arkham Trilogy (which let's be honest- it's probably 40 GB total), not to mention DecaPolice... thats probably a good 100 GB of space beyond what I have room for.
Figuring out which games to archive is always such a painful endeavor. I love all my digital children. How to choose...

Metal Gear Solid Collection vol. 2 found in website source code, subsequently confirmed by IGN as correct.
Includes Metal Gear Solid 4, which has been trapped on PS3 for like 15 years. Includes Metal Gear Solid 5, the game which actually got me into the series (it released on PS3/360 so it will run on Switch, contrary to some claims I've seen). And it will include Peacewalker. IGN goes on to say it is indeed also coming to Switch.

Mmmmm... finally. I played through almost the entire game on Wii U VC using the gamepad. Think I'm like 3 or 4 chapters away from completing the game.
And yet, I will now restart on Switch. It's the definitive platform to play on.

As much as I despise Konami's effort regarding the physical release of volume one, I'll be there day-one for a digital copy of Peace Walker. I'm glad Konami will be offering all these games a la carte.
On a separate note. I was looking at the release calendar and noticed that Valthirian Arc 2 was released yesterday. I vaguely remember liking the first game and its super-casual take on the action/rpg and simulation genres. I'm talking kids-first-experience-with-either-genre kind of easy.
Do I recommend it? At full price, no. But if you've never played a simulation game and Valthirian Arc 1 happens to go on deep deep discount (like...$2), I'd say give it look. You'll get what you paid for, which feels like a serviceable mobile game.
I’m really curious to know whether the games in either collection are going to see QOL improvements, mainly in the controls. I hope they aren’t just straight ports. I haven’t played any of the games but I know how badly a lot of PS1 & PS2 era controls have dated.

@FragRed Most likely quick-and-dirty ports. The footage we've seen is letterboxed, the PC version doesn't have keyboard and mouse support, etc. Smells of bare minimum.

@Magician That’s what I feared when I saw the trailer. I think a lot of people may find themselves turned off by that when they try playing the early 3D games expecting a modern control scheme.
