@JaxonH I feel like there's potential for a promising new form of internet comedy here. One of the few worthwhile trends to come out of TikTok. As someone who is otherwise thoroughly exhausted by the current cultural milieu, it's always nice to see something unambiguously fun pop up.

@Grumblevolcano People always assume financial deals when something is exclusive to Switch (perhaps because under-the-table exclusion deals to cripple the competition are how Sony has done business for generations now), but after seeing how games like Triangle Strategy and Octopath Traveler 2 performed, I genuinely think a lot of creators have realized that Nintendo will market the heck out of platform exclusives, and that this is often more valuable in the long-run to visibility than slapping their games on as many systems as possible. Especially considering how Switch is lacking the typical treadmill of big AAA tentpoles, so mid-budget releases like this are given more of an opportunity to make an impression.

As a fan of Danganronpa before it was even officially localized on the PS Vita, I'm super excited to see Kodaka's next big property on my favorite Nintendo console.

@Ralizah @Grumblevolcano
The devs said they specifically decided to release Raincode as a Switch exclusive due to how well games like Triangle Strategy performed on Switch vs when games are released multiplat. And when you look at Triangle Strategy selling 1 million copies almost immediately, yet the multiplatform Octopath Traveler II still not hitting that milestone (despite being on 3 different platforms and being better than the first game) I think they have a point.

Speaking of which, tons of new info and screenshots were just dumped for Raincode. It's looking phenomenal.

@JaxonH Wow.

I've been avoiding most infodumps about the game, but those are some stunning screenshots. The use of color is really, really good. This is going to look incredible on the SWOLED.

the reasons the Nintendo Switch sucessor will not be a hybrid console like him and what could be Nintendo Switch holiday game?

I know this is from a few days ago but that's where I was upto in the thread. I feel dumber for having watched (most of) it (I couldn't take anymore after 2/3rds of it) though having watched I feel compared to tear the entire thing to pieces. To be clear, talking about the first of those two videos which I don't think we need to link again

For a start it seems his entire premise is that the "Switch 2" won't be "the same thing again but shinier" because. Reasons? Not entirely clear why. But the first part of the video he just splashes NX mock-ups that make the Switch we actually got look like "Wii U again but shinier" in comparison. I mean, some of those NX mock-ups were wild. I guess the argument here is that "look at how wrong these Switch guesses were"? Not off to good start in any case

Then following this he switches to calling the SNES a failure. Which is odd because it sold about as well as the NES did in every region except NA. People weren't put-off by the SNES being "just an upgraded NES". It's just that in the NA the Master System never took off and the Mega Drive did. Or in other words, Americans liked Sonic but not Alex Kidd

Then he goes onto the Wii U and tries to paint it with the same brush as the SNES. Which.... I mean I guess if you're trying to make the argument that the Wii U failed because <insertreasonhere> you always have half a point. But while it is arguably true the market saw the Wii U as a Wii with a screen in the controller I don't think you can really say the Wii U was an iterative design. The Wii U, in a technical sense, was less of a Wii with a screen in the controller than the Wii was a Gamecube with Motion Controls

He also then throws in there that it's the iterative naming that was the issue. Showing his hands a bit, this guy has no idea. But in any case there's one MAJOR thing he's ignoring. What about Gameboy? What about DS? Hell, what about Playstation and XBox? There are plenty of examples out there of iterative consoles that were hugely successful. And lets not forget, Virtual Boy. Probably the wackiest console design ever and also the biggest flop

Also when you think about it there have been only a few revolutionary hardware ideas that have genuinely pushed gaming forward and stuck. The analogue stick, digital distribution, shoulder buttons, rumble, motion control. I'd put "hybrid" gaming in that same space. Going back to even the Super Gameboy through to Sony's cross-play/cross-buy as far back as the PSP/PS3 through the Wii U and perfected with the Switch. I don't think this is an innovation that will be quickly dropped

@JaxonH how long until they release this game in another consoles? every Nintendo Switch "exclusive" release in another consoles, after a year of it release, it happened with Monster Hunter Rise, happened with Octopath Traveler 2 and will happen with this game, just a instereting obsevation.

@Giancarlothomaz Yeah, unfortunately, E3 being cancelled was bound to happen with so many companies deciding to not show up this year. It's a shame, but wholly expected. Can't say I won't miss E3 if this is near the end though. They will absolutely have to transform it into something else to keep it going in any capacity if this keeps up.

When the world renowned pachinko and slot machine company Konami is your E3 headline company, we all knew it was a no-go for launch.

@Magician In fairness if Konami had a new Metal Gear Solid to show off then that's a worthy headliner.

So what's more likely, a new big budget entry of Metal Gear Solid or E3 ever returning?

@jump Considering even the house of "grab-and-squeeze-your-employees" Ubisoft decided E3 wasn't for them and walked back their decision to go, I'd say E3 is deader than dead. And Konami are always eager to license and milk their legacy. A return for Metal Gear Solid is much...much more likely.

Was doing my daily walking exercise and stumped my pinkie toe on my Zelda treasure box of guide books.

Freaking broke my toe. Whole thing is purple and I have to shift my weight when walking.

@Giancarlothomaz
No idea.

What does it matter though? I'm not interested in playing the game on other consoles, so why would I care if it comes to them later or how long it takes?

@JaxonH Ouch!

I've avoided breaking any of my toes, but some people in my family have struggled with a number of toe breaks over the years, and they always seem miserable. Can't really avoid using your feet, after all.
