I do agree. I like to savor my games as well. I almost always finish them long after everyone else. Games other people complete in 50 hours takes me 100. Not a conpletionist, I just take my time.

I can tell you now, I also got 200 hrs in BotW, and Tears is way bigger. Way more stuff to do. Way more places to explore. I am expecting a bare minimum of 200 hours for this one.

I've completed about 20 shrines, 20 Koroks, 3 towers and 1 tear. So still pretty early on. And yet, it feels like I've already played an entire game's worth of content (if it were any other game). I am flabbergasted at how immense this game is.

When BotW released people were blown away by how big it was. It was massive. and yet somehow, TotK is at least twice the size in scope. So it's like two BotW Hyrule size maps combined (the sky and the depths together probably equal 1 Hyrule sized map, or close to).

But it's more dense this time around, too. It's still vast and open like BotW, but it feels like there's way more things crammed in.

This is the game to end all games. Straight up. Nothing will even remotely come close to challenging TotK for the next 10 years. Even Nintendo themselves will struggle to top this. Then again, we said the same thing about BotW and here we are... they topped it.

@Giancarlothomaz I wasn't suggesting rushing through. What I was meaning was that the order I play things ends up complicated because there's so much I want to play. For example with the possibility that Side Order releases on May 31st, do I start TotK after I've finished Return to Dream Land Deluxe or do I find a shorter game in my backlog to wait the gap until Side Order and start TotK after completing Side Order.

@skywake Being blocked by Anti is a right of passage on NintendoLife. Sad we won't get to see all the shovelware he's playing.

Yeah TotK is gonna take months if not a year to beat (maybe longer since I have other obligations). I may sprinkle in something light or a farming game when I get stuck/burned out but for now... Yeah this game has my calendar booked.

I chuckled to myself while I was reading the article about how TOTK should've been Switch's swan song. I figure I'll still be playing my way through the game by the time the next system is announced...maybe even when it's released.

Recently finished: Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Splatoon 3: Side Order, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD

@Ryu_Niiyama Told myself last night I'd just play 30 mins of TotK before bed. A few minutes later I went down into a chasm for the first time.

2 hours later the chasm was looking a lot brighter than when I'd entered, but my eyes were not, and I reluctantly went to bed with the feeling that, for all I knew, due to the darkness down there, I may well have only scratched the surface.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@gcunit Yep that's why I'm on a strict schedule. I set an alarm when I play. Otherwise, no chores/studying/training are getting done. I'm pretty much only working because I have to be a responsible adult/pay bills. I quit doing the chasms for now because they are so big. So I'm just working on discovering the map and marking where the Korok with the backpack that is over stuffed (who packed that Hetsu?) is.

@Grumblevolcano Better overwhelmed than underwhelmed imo. Unless you have anxiety issues. For me it is a good place to be as I can wait for any other games I want to go on sale. Nothing else is day 1 except Story of Seasons for the rest of the year. BF haul is going to be insane this year.

It does feel like the series has peaked with this game. Just like Smash, I don't see how you go bigger at this point. I feel like they'll probably need to go a different route with the next one. Although I doubt it'll be back to the standard pattern older 3D entries adopted.

@Ralizah @Giancarlothomaz
I think underwater is a viable option, but that alone can't be the hook. And playable Zelda doesn't make a difference one way or the other. It's an avatar for the character you move on screen. The next game will need to do far more than just make a princess playable, which some people have fixated on for some inexplicable reason.

I think the next game either does time travel as a gameplay mechanic, or light/dark world (but on a massive open world scale), or something unique like turning 2D and walking on walls like Link Between Worlds did (timed anti-gravity as a skill where you can walk on walls and ceilings would be a gamechanger in terms of puzzle and world design, for example).

They'll think of something. It'll be open world, probably with a new art style (or a refined art style that's similar yet different), probably a new rendition of Hyrule, and a new mechanic that serves as the hook. Likely won't be as big as TotK, but still around the same size as BotW was.

@JaxonH @Ralizah @Giancarlothomaz I think underwater stuff could be in the DLC, that's one the few things I can think of for DLC besides Master Mode and some kind of challenge story that involves the sky islands.

@JONOFTHEJONS
Don't support LEGO 2K games.
The Switch version was legit scam.
One, it has no physical release at all, instead a code in box treatment.
Two, the game have micro transactions on it.
Three, that LEGO game for kids has been tainted by micro transactions. What was CEO of 2K thinking about?
Four, don't buy 2K products when you find those scam treatments.
Five, I'm pretty sure the Switch version will be the worst and nearly unplayable, because of 2K for being greedy and jerk to Nintendo.

You can check Gigantosaurus Dino Kart, Smurfs Kart for alternative of Mario Kart.

@Ryu_Niiyama True about overwhelmed vs. underwhelmed, I do prefer the current crazy packed lineup over quiet lineups though sometimes when choice paralysis happens I do sometimes end up going back to what I'd be playing during a quiet lineup anyway.

@Professor_Plumber Yeah, I've brought it up in the speculation thread but I feel that instead of the expected focus on the next Switch with a dry spell for the current Switch we're going to get a packed end to the Switch lineup. So like Prime 4 not being crossgen but rather only being for Switch, 3D Mario being a Switch only Fall/Holiday 2023 release to take advantage of Mario momentum from the movie/theme park, etc.

@Grumblevolcano I think for me what I love is you don't have to pin your hopes on a single blockbuster right now. I love, love LOVE the wiiu but looking at the games I own, they are mostly the Nintendo blockbusters and a few 3rd parties I trusted. But with switch, especially recently, you can like almost any genre (genre, NOT IP before somebody screams FZERO) and have something to look forward too. For unfortunate folks like me that like a lot of genres (and Nintendo doesn't specialize in the genres I dislike ) I have so much to look forward to that I just made a purchase list. Work on what I am working on and I'll get to the other games later. But I have SUCH a treasure trove (seriously this is my last triple gen because I can't play what I already own) to work down! And even if I don't always get the best of a genre, Switch keeps some really entertaining b-listers. No SF6 on switch? I will be playing DNF duel instead. (granted I'm going to buy SF when all the characters release)
