Marvel vs Capcom 2 was amazing, but I pretty much abandoned the series with future entries when they went to 3D graphics. It wasn't the same without the charming sprite art.
@Ralizah@Professor_Plumber. Dang those were some good times and Capcom sprite work in that era was incredible. Infinite is an abomination lol. Was glad capcom released the fighters collection but there is another game wished they ported to Switch and that was Power Stone 1 and 2. Maybe the best couch co-op brawlers this side of Smash Bros. Well at least when my friends was still living 😛. Old person problems lmao
I think I quite understand of Pikmin gameplay after trying the demo version of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
At the same time, I think I will consider Pikmin clones by 3rd party developers on PS4 to give some try.
@Anti-Matter
There's no game that even comes close to replicating the feel of Pikmin. I've tried many. None of them have ever grabbed me. The closest was Little King's Story on Wii, but even that fell short.
Finding an alternative to Pikmin is like finding an alternative to Zelda or Mario... it just doesn't exist. Not that other games can't be fun in their own right, but they're never on the level.
In fact... that's pretty much the case for every Nintendo franchise, now that I think about it.

It does put things into perspective when people talk about being "before their time" for some thing in gaming or another. As you get older you kinda forget how much of your life was in one small console generation
For example, my generation most of us probably got an N64 when we were around 7-10. Primary School. The GameCube comes around when we are 13-15 which, if you were anything like my friend group, you skip and get a PC or XBox. That ends up being the end of school platform of choice. And finally you get to UNi and it's all DS and Wii
The next generation who had the Wii where my generation had N64? Well they've gone through that entire cycle also. But they went Wii -> PS4 -> Switch. And we have another group doing the same thing now who started with Switch in mid Primary School and are transitioning to High School with, well, ATM it's probably not clear yet!
For me there's not much of a gap between the Wii and Switch eras. Certainly not as much as there was from N64 and Wii. And the PS4 era certainly doesn't feel like it started as long back now as the N64 launched when I started UNI. But people around that age almost surely do see it like that
@JaxonH
Actually, there are already Pikmin clones on PS4 / PS5 / Switch.
Hotel Transylvania 3 Tinykin The Wild at Heart
I have never played those games before, but I think I will give them a try.
Also, I have played Dreamworks Dragons Dawn of New Riders PS4 and Evoland 1 & 2 PS4 for classic zelda clone style 3rd party game.
And of course Ratchet & Clank games and Kao the Kangaroo already felt like alternative of 3D Mario games for me. The games have interesting storyline, more appealing character design for some reason, beautiful environments, etc so I'm already content with the games and also the reason I want to get PS5.
I know you have very strong Nintendo hype so every clones of Nintendo games will not replicate the same expectations for you, but for me who grew up by more PlayStation 3rd party games, I personally can accept with the clones from Nintendo games as long they offered something je ne sais quoi that made me get engaged with the games.
@skywake Gosh I shouldn't even mention this but my 1st console experience was the atari 2600. Parents got it for me when they divorced in 1981 lol. Next console I got was purchased myself after graduating n 1989 was the Sega Genesis. I still remember driving 70 miles to a Toys R us and got it along with Last Battle and Space Harrier 2. Lived on bologna for a week after but I thought gaming at home could be no better lol
Not sure about Anti ? Going on about Pikmin but Nintendo version not good enough lol
@old-dad
I mean why not?
There are already the clones of Nintendo games by 3rd party developers on other consoles with their own style.
I played Pokemon, World of Final Fantasy, Yokai Watch & Nexomon games for having same genre monster taming games.
And if I felt more impressed more by the clones than the original, that means they have something that I have interest about.
It doesn't mean the clones will be always suck, it just some people's really not open minded with similar games.
Also, different peoples have different life experiences and different expectations.
Don't blame me for having more interest with 3rd party games.

Just now I experienced with not readable Switch cartridge after I purchased Miitopia secondhand game.
The cartridge didn't even detected on my Switch and on my friend Switch so the seller gave me refund.
What an unpleasant experience. 😟
But at least I got refund.
@jump
Fair call, just curious what I must've said to cause that reaction. Probably one of the times I've mentioned PC gaming positively or something knowing the bloke's posts over the years lol

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
I don't think I'll be playing much else until the end of the year.
At the rate I'm going in Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 will be out before I even come close to finishing. After which, Pikmin 4 will be top priority, and then back to finish the Xenoblade 3 expansion. By then it'll be October, and hopefully (fingers crossed) we'll get Metroid Prime 2 around then. If not, backlog is always waiting.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed in terms of the quantity of games I want to play. I mean like it's unlikely Nintendo's just going to stop doing other stuff just because TotK is out. It's more likely that TotK is out so it's old news, time for the next thing (e.g. the next season of Splatoon 3 content, the next wave of MK8 Deluxe DLC, the next NSO additions).
I saw someone bring up Pikmin. Yeah, there is nothing like that franchise, it’s in a league of its own. Pikmin is a brilliantly designed series, but genre wise, it’s nowhere near say the likes of Pokémon. Pikmin isn’t a monster taming game, it’s more strategic I would argue, solving problems and puzzles with a limited supply of pikmin and mapping out routes to bring objects/fruit back to your base so your pikmin aren’t eaten on the way and before the sun goes down. I am excited for Pikmin 4, but it will be a while before I pick that up. I’m getting Tears Of The Kingdom in June most likely, that will presumably eat up most of my time.
@Grumblevolcano, @JaxonH e @TheBigBlue ounce my physical media of Tears of the Kingdom arrive next week, i gonna apreciate the game like a fine wine, i completed Breath of the Wild with 185h, i expect to complete Tears of the Kingdom with 200/300H or more, given how content heavy the game it is, and maybe if Metroid Prime 4 release this holiday season i will play the game, i am the kinda of gamer/player that like to apreciate a game like a good wine, Metroid Prime Remastered, Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom e Metroid Prime 4(3 masterpieces i will hopefully play this year, 2 is already garantee, only Metroid Prime 4 left to confirm)
