@old-dad
As long as they don't name it something like "Switch 2.5G". It's bad enough as it is trying to search for metwork hardware and having Switch stuff coming up given my search history

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
@skywake lol true. Just stay away from "U" or "New" and keep Switch it should be ok
I would like to see it launch with 2 versions. Docked only and a hybrid model, just out of curiosity lol
Allow me to add to this. Avoid Switch 2, Switch Pro, Super Switch, Switch II, Switch Deluxe, Switch Two. Did I say Switch 2?
I forgot to bring this up but Xbox took Nintendo's usual Direct slot in June for Xbox Games Showcase Extended so it looks like there's no general Direct then.
@Grumblevolcano Without E3 Nintendo really doesn’t need to worry about when they do a Direct. They don’t even need to do one in June. Could see them waiting until July or just shadow dropping trailers on social media - perhaps more so this if the games they want to announce are just remasters and small titles.

They likely have been kicking around some direct footage but I suspect they want to see how the TotK sales go. And want to focus on the marketing for that.

Don’t expect a direct. Nintendo is attending gamescom in august and they have a Nintendo Live in September. Partner direct or if we’re super lucky, a mini direct to announce NSO games, a remaster/remake announcement and MK8 Deluxe wave 5. People believe a switch successor is primed and ready for a announcement sometime between June and September based on conflicting unofficial reports from “insider” idiots I don’t trust. That would explain the august and September events, huh. Still, I believe the switch has quite some time left. People will cry salty tears if the switch successor isn’t announced this year. But I don’t care. Saves me a lot of money and headaches

I mean, I know I've been pretty loudly on the "side" of the new hardware bandwagon but if I'm being honest in terms of my actual personal "need" for it I'm in the same boat. I just don't really play enough games anymore to really "need" new hardware right now. Definitely grabbing TotK, almost surely grabbing Pikmin 4 but probably not much else this year. And really, other stuff I might be interested in like HD remasters, 2D titles or out of left-field indie titles? Probably don't need new hardware. I only really dive into like a half-a-dozen "big" games a year, and probably half of them are on PC
However, I'm also fully aware of where the Switch sits as a piece of hardware on the market. It's increasingly hard to ignore the gap in potential spec they're leaving on the table in their price bracket. A gap in spec that their competitors will benefit from. Whether that's Microsoft & Sony or Valve & Asus or even Apple & Samsung. And even if you discount entirely the talking heads on YouTube, and you most definitely should, there's certainly enough smoke around so suggest an announcement is months rather than years away
Also.... I like tech. I especially like efficient tech. Whether it's solid state storage, heavily threaded CPUs, cleverly coded software or even like LED lighting and high power density batteries. I'll be hyped about it. Hell, show me a heat-pump clothes dryer and I'll nerd out about it. So when I look at what the next hardware could be, look at the probable SoC and see like 3-4X the power in a lower W component? Plus DLSS to push it even further for a relatively low additional cost in W? And also probably an OLED screen with the improvements in battery tech over the last 6 years? .... yeah, I don't care if I need that thing or not. That's just cool tech, day 1 purchase, I want to give that a spin
17 million consoles in a quarter sounds like a bunch of switches especially in year 7 of the console. Makes you wonder if switch will see a price cut before/after the holidays ?
