@JaxonH Shew would installation be all that terrible especially considering they (game developers) want us going all digital anyway ? Lived with it forever on PC and better part of 10yrs with Xbox. Guess I'll just put a better storage solution on list of things I would hope to see but probably won't lol.
Man that sucks about RGG studios, have all the Yakuza games along with Judgement titles on Series X and if it wasn't for those and newest RE games not sure I would need the box.
Seriously still on the fence about moving on from xbox and just getting a Steam Deck with a dock. Cut down on clutter plus reading you're and a few others experience with it is making me lean that way.
All this new hardware talk kind of reminds me of January 2018. Nintendo were driving everyone insane with teases about a January Direct because EA had previously leaked that one was happening (Fe was part of the Direct) while at the same time there was exciting stuff happening which was official. XC2 had released the month prior (a lengthy game) and a load of games got DLC and updates in December/January.
This time around March was extremely packed, April just had a Splatfest with Eggstra Work incoming later in the month, FE Engage DLC is coming in a bit over a day, Advance Wars is finally getting released on April 21st and there's a load of 3rd party stuff too.
did anyone find suspecious Nintendo has not anounced no games for H2, they always anounce at least 2/3 games for H2, the only game we have dated after Pikimin 4, we dont know what is the holiday game for this year, this silence of Nintendo in not anouncing games for the second half of the year or for 2024, give me a impression Nintendo is preparing for the anouncement and release of it next hardware, i could be wrong(they could do a Nintendo Direct in june/july and reveal a packed second half/holiday season, but as day passes it become more aparent, all Nintendo first/second party studios is focusing on it next hardware
@old-dad
I mean, I wouldn't personally have a problem with it since I'm digital now anyways. I just don't know if Nintendo would choose to go down that route.
@Giancarlothomaz
While I don't doubt they're gearing up for new hardware, no, I don't see it as suspicious in the slightest. They've operated like this for years. We've seen it time and again where we don't know what's coming the second half, then summer rolls around and bam, there's the release lineup.
Right now they want everyone's focus on Zelda. They're not gonna announce H2 games now when their focus is on H1. That would be completely counterproductive, and, it would rob them of the announcements they're going to make in the summer. Good grief, could you imagine the backlash if there was no summer announcements? Nothing at all? Because they, for some reason, decided to spill the beans in April before Tears of the Kingdom? Come on now.
That's not how they operate. We're gonna get Advance Wars, we're gonna get Zelda, and we're gonna get Pikmin. After that, they will reveal what's coming in H2.

I have grown to despise being locked down to a TV. I'm not exactly a fan of being locked down on a handheld either (I much prefer having the option to do either or, plus tabletop), but at least handheld isn't tethered to one spot like TV-consoles are.
I was just playing Resident Evil 4 Remake on Deck last night. I forgot I'd preordered a while back for a discount, which I tend to do quite often, then forget about it til I get the code emailed. Anyways, it runs fine. So do Yakuza games, though I don't personally play them as they're not really my style.
Switch OLED put my PS5, XSX and gaming PC on life support, while SteamDeck pulled the plug on them for good. Both offer gyro aiming for nearly every game, something that in and of itself is a dealbreaker for me on other systems. Both cut the tether from playing in one spot, which also in and of itself is a dealbreaker for me on other systems. Both offer free or low cost online at $10/yr for both combined ($0/yr for Steam + $10/yr for Switch NSO+, vs $120/yr for PS + Xbox). And both combined offer 99.9% of every game on the planet.
The only thing the TV-tethered systems have to offer is graphics. And frankly, that's just not enough to counter all the advantages of Switch and Deck by comparison. But, you have to be ok with waiting for games as Switch and Steam sees more late ports vs other systems. I'm OK with that, but it's something to be aware of going into it.
Another thing to be aware of, at least with Deck, is that most games are good out of the box, but some of the more recent and highly demanding games need very specific settings to hit stable 30. Thankfully there's an easy way to do this. If you install Decky Loader on your Deck (it's a plug in that takes 10 min to install in desktop mode), there's a plug-in that puts SteamDB ratings icon on each game in your library, separate from Valve's rating system. And if you tap it, it hyperlinks you to the game's Proton page where power users leave comments on how they got it running well, usually with detailed descriptions of which Proton version they used and what settings to apply. At first I couldn't hit more than 23 fps in RE4 Remake, but after checking that page, I'm getting stable 30. It's awesome.
But, it requires the time to install Decky Loader and the SteamDB plug-in, which isn't hard, but it's something to know going in. It's not like Switch or Xbox where everything is plug and play. You will need to put in a bit of work here and there. But once you do, and it's set up, it's done. Then every time you launch that game, it's just like any other console.
I highly recommend it. In fact I just ordered a 2TB NVMe for my Deck about an hour ago. I'm gonna clone my 512GB and swap the SSD. Which ya, it takes some work but, it's nice that you can do that kinda stuff. Bottom line- higher commitment and investment, but higher payoff.

@JaxonH I hear ya, graphics and pixel counts dont get it. I enjoy a good looking game as much as the next person but we each have different experiences with different games. My favorite games this year has been Hi-Fi Rush, Bayonetta Origins, Metroid Prime Remaster and Dredge lol. Hardly the kind of stuff that excites the guys at DF 🙃.
Tinkering with a few settings doesn't bother me especially if that means if the wife wants the Tv I can pick up my game and play it. That is such a win in my eyes
Thanks for your feedback on the deck. Just pushed me over the edge lol
@old-dad Dude, I'm tellin' ya, ol' Jax is an industry insider, planted here many years ago to boost sales across the board with his infectious enthusiasm for all things gaming. Buyer beware.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

@Giancarlothomaz It all comes down to whether Nintendo want to promote TotK. If they do then a lot of April and May's focus will be promoting TotK. But if they want to keep quiet, they'll do other announcements to fill the promotion void. Either way I feel we'll get an Advance Wars demo sometime before launch, maybe a week before like they did for Bayonetta Origins.
In other news, XC3 soundtrack (including wave 4 music) is launching July 29th 2023 which practically confirms wave 4 releases before then. Torna's timeline between release and soundtrack (3 months) would suggest April.

@gcunit
I bought an external CD-drive for my PC to rip soundtrack CDs to digital. But then I just downloaded all the Fire Emblem soundtracks I own physically because it was easier.
But with this being so new, I'll probably rip it in once I get it.

The people that truly believe that Nintendo has absolutely no games for the switch past Pikmin 4 are more than a little misguided. We just haven’t heard anything. I don’t believe a Nintendo direct is happening, maybe a mini or a partner showcase, but I do expect more rereleased and remasters. Nintendo will keep the retro game train humming along with GBA, GB, N64, Genesis, SNES and NES games steady for a while, and a handful or remakes and smaller games will help fill the summer, along with third party ports and exclusives.

+1
Honestly im happy with not knowing. Helps keep balance in the force 🤣
So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings.
Basically, stop worrying about what's coming later. What comes will come. You can worry about it then. But for today, you have plenty of games on the way. Focus on that and let tomorrow's worries take care of itself.

@Grumblevolcano maybe you right, given that Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is Nintendo bigest release for Nintendo Switch since it launch in 2017.
