Ya, I'm chock to the hilt with games. Normally I'm hankering for a Direct by February but this year, it hasn't even crossed my mind. I'm so absorbed in Fire Emblem Engage right now, and still have Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core I'm only 20 hrs into, and Mario Rabbids Spark of Hope I'm 20 hrs into, and Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal I'm 5-10 hrs into, and the 2nd-3rd playthroughs of Nier Automata which I only did the 1st playthrough of, and Portal 1/2 (beaten these games more times than I can count, but it's been a few yrs and I've literally waited a decade for handheld gyro version to play), oh and Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes which was surprisingly super good, and still halfway through Triangle Strategy, and still barely scratched the surface of Splatoon 3 campaign...

Gosh dang. With Kirby and Octopath and Zelda and Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars and... ya know what- just pile it all on top. I'm genuinely curious to see how close to actually drowning I can get before the tide eases up.

@Grumblevolcano
Velkhana!!!

Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax looks nasty too, but the killer part is that Risen Elder Dragons will start appearing in Anomoly Investigations. As if an end game Risen variant of an elder dragon crashing the party wasn't enough, monsters like Chaotic Gore Magala will now get Afflicted form in Anomoly Investivations.

Just imagine a Level 220 Afflicted Chaotic Gore Magala and Scorned Magnamalo!!!

brrrrrrr [shivers]

BTW, in an hour and a half, the Velkhana palamute DLC promotion goes live. For 72 hours, those who fill out the campaign info with a Capcom ID gets the miniature Velkana to ride as their palamute

For me a Direct would help structure the play order. So like if TotK is literally just more BotW, while I'll buy it day 1 I'll likely play a bunch of other games first. For example I'd like to get around to playing more FF games.

@Grumblevolcano @JaxonH, since april will end the Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak updates, i wonder which monster will be the final monster of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak and Monster Hunter Rise in general? Monster Hunter World Iceborne ended with Shara Ishavalda, what monster can top Shara Ishavalda for Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak final monster?

I played the Theatrhythm demo for half an hour. It confirms what I already assumed. That the developer, indiezero, know what they're doing when developing games in the music/rhythm genre. The game is going to be great.

Naturally I didn't want to constantly hear "ping ping ping" with every note input, so I just turned the sound fx all the way down to zero.

I play music games for...you know...the music.

I don't see it happening because it's been a long time since the last Mario platformer so that would likely take priority for that team. Wouldn't be Retro either because they're doing Prime 4.

Well Bowser's Fury wasn't that long ago. Just throwing it out there but alot of folk were talking about how that game was a proof of concept for the next game however what if that next game was Donkey Kong instead of Mario.

It's not like Donkey Kong is Famicom Detective Club or Pikmin which have managed to get new games despite not being massive. The Snes games were legit huge and when they bother to make actually big games for DK they normally end up doing very well so I can see Ninty going let us make a DK game rather than rushing out a new Mario a series which often likes to take a breather for the next gen.

@jump I recall Miyamoto saying in 2017 that Nintendo prioritized getting Mario Odyssey for Switch year 1 to the extent that Pikmin 4 was put on the backburner. The next Switch won't even have Zelda this time given TotK launches in May so they'll likely have a new Mario as a launch title.

Iceborne ended with Fatalis not Shara Ishvalda.

BTW, we already know the final 3 monsters:

Risen Shagaru Magala, new Malzeno variant, and Amatsu is the grand finale

@Grumblevolcano my fear is that after 6 years of development, Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, is just Breath of the Wild in the sky,after all Tears of the Kingdom started as the third DLC for Breath of the Wild, the same situation of Super Mario Galaxy to Super Mario Galaxy 2(but at least you can tell apart which game are different), so far i have seen no difference that set Tears of the Kingdom apart for Breath of the Wild, just like Super Mario Galaxy 2 did to Super Mario Galaxy 1, or Ocarina of Time to Majora Mask

So Microsoft are now joining Nintendo in shutting down more stores. Following on from Fire Emblem Fates in February and 3DS/Wii U as a whole in March, it's recommended you buy any Xbox 360 content by May:

"We will be closing the Xbox 360 Marketplace over the next year, so we encourage you to purchase any 360 games or DLC by May 2023."

https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/search?phrase=360%20marketplace

Which leaves PS3/Vita as the only stores open for a system that released before 2013.

@Giancarlothomaz
Tears of the Kingdom started as the third DLC for Breath of the Wild

First off, that's false, and this isn't the first time I've had to clarify this for someone. The sequel was absolutely not just DLC. You're misreading things. It's a new game because they wanted to make a new game. Just because an idea got incorporated doesn't mean it was originally DLC. But even if it was, that still wouldn't make it any lesser of a new game.

Secondly, even if it is just "BotW in the sky", what's wrong with that? It's literally a follow up to Breath of the Wild, using the same assets and redesigned world, so obviously its gonna be like BotW. Did anyone ever actually think it wouldn't be? And, just because it's like BotW doesn't mean it is BotW. It's a sequel, and if you've ever played a sequel before, it's supposed to be similar. Why? Because people liked the first thing, so they give ppl a second thing similar to the first.

It's why God of War Ragnarok is, surprise surprise, similar to God of War. It's why Horizon Forbidden West is similar to Horizon Zero Dawn. It's why Halo Infinite is similar to every other Halo.

There is nothing wrong with Tears of the Kingdom being "like BotW". If it was truly just a quick turnaround sequel without its own equal effort put in, it would have released years ago. The fact it's releasing 6 years later should be an obvious testament to its quality.

@JaxonH Majora Mask is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time and yet the game is completely direferent to Ocarina of Time(i want to have this similar feel that i felt when i played Ocarina of Time to Majora Mask when i play Tears of the Kingdom, i dont want to feel that i playing Breath of the 2.0, is really that hard to undestand my concern with the game)

@Kermit1 So it seems it was at least partially an error:

Microsoft says that May 2023 was an error but doesn't say anything about the broader message of closing it over the next year.

@Giancarlothomaz
Majora's Mask isnt that different. Aside from the time mechanic, its the same Zelda formula. Similar graphics, similar puzzles, similar combat, etc. It has one major difference, but so will Tears of the Kingdom.

All that said, the minute you start judging games you haven't played based on a specific checklist of demands, you set yourself up for irrational disappointment. Judge games for what they are, not what they aren't or what you imagine to want, or for how "different" they are for difference's sake, as if being "different" somehow equates to a superior experience.

Otherwise you can literally be disappointed with anything for no justifiable reason. "Different" =/= "better" and "similar" =/= "worse". There are at least 100 games I could find that are "similar" to a preceding entry that are among the greatest video games ever made, and another 100 that "different" to a preceding entry which are mediocre, or at best they're not as fun as the preceding entry.

If the game turns out to be not that good, so be it, but judge it for what it is, not arbitrary criteria.

Is it me or does the new Puzzle Bobble have a character with a homophonically inappropriate name?

@Giancarlothomaz I don't see that happening unless either TotK is delayed again or is moved forward to April like how XC3 released in July instead of September.
