@JaxonH The thing of it is, the only real reason I haven't gotten the OLED yet despite years passing is because I'm afraid the second I buy it, Nintendo will announce an absolute 4K model, and I will cry.

I've been in the same boat, and was in the same boat with the New 3DS, and the DSi. Of course in all of those other cases it wasn't that long until they did release new hardware. TBH? I do kinda regret not picking up the New 2DS because my 3DS XL was pretty worn out and in the dying breaths of the 3DS they were pretty damn cheap. These days people seem to be asking more for them used than they were selling new..........
With that said, I think waiting for new hardware at this point with the Switch is the right play. Firstly because the Switch is also a home console and, personally, I tend to use it more as a home console lately. So while mine is a Day 1 unit and it has seen better days (the screen lifts slightly on one side) it's not nearly as worn as my 3DS was. Also I don't think this transition to new hardware will be as cut-and-dry as it was from 3DS to Switch. Fairly solid chance Switch games will remain playable, certainly more than there was with 3DS
@TheBigBlue
There are a lot of devs who abuse the eShop like this. What they do is heavily discount to get to the top of the charts and then drop the discount. Their goal is to trick people into buying them when the price returns to normal but they're on the top of the charts. Those games are trash, don't bother with it, don't reward it, they're trying to scam people on the way out
Nintendo of Murica have tried to curb this practice by setting the minimum price of a game (even after discount) to $1.99. Oddly enough, Nintendo still allows publishers in other territories to price their games however they'd like. As skywake mentioned, oftentimes those games discounted that deeply are trash-tier asset-flip re-skins. These days the Nintendo seal of approval stands for "quantity", not "quality".
Worse yet. It's rough navigating the "deals" section of the eShop whenever 1,000+ games are on discount. There are genuinely good games that get lost in the shuffle as congestion just bogs browsing the eShop down to a crawl. And as you scroll down, even after using filters, there comes a point where the eShop will just cease loading games to browse.
Oftentimes I'll set my price filter at $2 to $9.99, along with prices highest to lowest, and the store will stop at games priced at $6.24 or some such nonsense. Even on a wired connection the eShop buckles.

Octopath Traveler II is super good. And from what I'm hearing, it's way better than the first in just about every conceivable way. Even Jason Schreier is saying don't even bother playing the first game at this point- just play OT2. I got my collector edition from the SE store the other day. It's massive.
Also, Tower of Doom expansion for Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope is looking hot.
Even better news (for me anyways), if the S&P500 can muster even a 6% annual gain (historically has averaged close to 10% since 1928), with the $18k a year I'm now contributing to tax advantaged retirement accounts (its a lot, but I wanna retire early) I'm going to be able to retire in just 22 years... that's not that far away!
Hit me like a brick. Always feel like retirement is a lifetime away, but nope. I'm done at age 62. I'm ready to pop a squat and game. It should be at the tail end of the Switch 4's lifespan, right around that peak time it gets all the best games like Switch is in 2022-2023... ahhh I cant wait. The clock is now ticking down though. It's exciting to think about!

👀 That’s a disturbing thought I don’t want to question how or why it came up. I’m just gonna turn off my phone, burn it and bury it deep underground so this evil will never again burn my eyes. 😉

@FragRed It was an image of Cammy from SF6 in her thirsty stretch taunt along with an...enthusiastic Kirby. I think it's hilarious, but apparently it was a bit much. I think the sentence I placed above the image was more suggestive than the image itself, but eh...it's whatever.

Switch 2 by early 2024 at the latest it seems. The poster who leaked the details of Scarlet and Violet DLC to the tee and mentioned "new Switch models" has now clarified its the next gen Switch, not a revision, and DLC2 releases in early 2024. Which, if a graphics update patch is releasing for the new Switch alongside DLC2, then Switch 2 has to be out by then, either a Nov 2023 or Feb-Mar 2024 release date.

Metroid being properly back feels like a double edged sword. It's really exciting that the franchise is back with Dread in 2021, Prime Remastered in February/March and some day Prime 4 but it came at the cost of DK of which Tropical Freeze is one of the best platformers.
@Grumblevolcano It's not like the DK well didn't dry up long before the Metroid renaissance began. They were only put on MP4 duty a few years back, after all.

@Magician Yeah, I think it's down to the site's modding having a shift in focus, it seems now based on what's reported rather than what's questionable so as there's some folk who are easily offended on here lots of odd things get reported and therefore removed. On the plus these same users do provide some good entertainment with how hard they get worked up over things like the sweary Scooby Doo show or rants like how any sort of relationship being displayed in media is morally wrong. Lol
I liked the picture though. There was a British red bus in it which therefore tells me I should buy the game since it’s appealing to pride of Britain. Now if they just have Cammy stand around sweaty Prince Andrew, that busker with a loop pedal Ed Sheeran and people standing in queues it would be a day one buy!
