@JaxonH ahh, I really want to get Rise but my backlog is too much right now. I played the Sunbreak demo on Steam recently and thought it was pretty cool. I couldn't quite get a handle on the controls, though. I didn't really find an in-game tutorial for any of the more advanced stuff. Maybe I just missed something.

It's a game that takes time to come to terms with all the mechanics. You really gotta try the different weapons in training room and pick one you like, then watch a YT tutorial for the weapon to learn all its combos and moves. The game does have that info in the menu but it's easier to watch someone showing you how to do it. The game also has plenty of tutorials.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak is my #1 favorite video game of all time. There's a lot of very, very good games, but if I had to pick my absolute favorite game out of everything I've ever played since the late 80's, this game would be it.

I highly recommend it. Once you start playing and start understanding the game and get sucked in, you may just find your new favorite series of all time.

Do YouTube and Overwatch on Switch need NSO?

I was thinking it might be a YouTube side problem not a Switch problem.

@Kermit1Pineapple
Neither YouTube nor Overwatch 2 requires NSO, to my knowledge.

Did not expect to devour Pokemon Scarlet at quite the pace I did. I forgot how much extra gaming the Switch allows me as a handheld. Sneaking an extra hour in bed when I wake up or before I go to sleep (or sometimes both), playing during quiet moments or breaks at work etc Those hours add up quickly.

This created a bit of a dilemma for me as I am out of the country for the best part of six weeks and was hoping to have something to play in the evenings on my Switch. I kinda figured I'd have more Pokemon left!

As such, I ended up buying Tactics Ogre. I didn't really want to get it at full price, but I think it is the best airplane/vacation game I can pick up right now that I haven't already played or finished. I played a couple of hours just to see if I would even like the game in the first place, and I think I do, overall.

Not a huge fan of the art style, the difficulty ramps up sharply (or maybe it feels like it does when I have come fresh off of Scarlet) and it kinda buries you under information really quickly and then leaves you to climb your way back out. But it seems like it is also exactly the kind of deep and meaty game I was hoping for to sink my teeth into while I was away and has so far kept me engaged with its vast suites of systems and tactical combat.

One thing I will say I really like so far is the balance of battles to everything else. I never finished Three Houses as all the school stuff bored me to tears. I tried Triangle Strategy, and it might have the slowest opening for a game I have ever played. The only games where I can tolerate a structure of 95 percent cutscenes are the Yakuza Games.

@Kermit1Pineapple no, you can watch/play them normaly in your Switch, without the need of Switch Online, @JaxonH Switch Online is not necessary to watch You Tube in your console same as Overwatch (one of the games on Switch that don't require Switch Online for online play, also the same for Fortnite)

@Pizzamorg I also expected to take longer with Pokemon Scarlet. Now I'm in the dilemma where MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 3 launches in less than 2 weeks so it doesn't make sense for me to start a very long game like Persona 5 Royal given MK8 Deluxe would no doubt disrupt my playthrough and then before you know it Fire Emblem Engage is out but I don't really have any games on the shorter side in my backlog at the moment.

Oh yeah I forgot Engage is January! Gonna be a turn based tactics overwhelm if I go straight from Ogre into that 😂

@Giancarlothomaz @JaxonH Thanks, yeah I will definitely be picking it up at some point as I’ve heard it’s supposed to be fantastic.

@Giancarlothomaz I'm done with the game for the time being. Beat the game, unlocked all the bonus stuff and beat most of the bonus stuff (Witch Trial 3 is way too hard).

@Kermit1Pineapple A game theory?

Pretty much.

Okay, so the error only happened to me after I listened to music for awhile, recently the YouTube app updated the way music is displayed on screen and I think it has something to do with that.

@kaisu I think it has to do with the servers not being NSO and not as "refined" for the console.

I just realized something. And it's so obvious, I'm not sure why it took me this long to see it.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a spring release...

Think about that. Really, actually think about it. A game that big? Arguably the biggest release of the generation, and it's not a holiday title? Why? Why would they put a game of that caliber in the spring? Unless...

Unless it's launching with a new system, which, they have an affinity for releasing new systems in the spring (3DS launched in Spring, Switch launched in Spring, and I suspect Switch 2 will launch in Spring). There's no other strategy I can reason for slotting their biggest release of the generation into the spring window.

It's also the case that we haven't seen a new 3D Mario since 2017. Even if a new one released holiday 2023, that's still a 6 year gap. Are we really to believe there will be more than a 6 year gap before the next new 3D Mario? That seems far fetched to me. Ergo, it's reasonable to assume we'll get a 3D Mario next holiday, especially since we already got the next generation of Pokemon this year, and Zelda is in the spring. There's no way they release Zelda in spring but slot in a mid-tier game for the holiday. No. The only way they're releasing Zelda in spring is if they have another big hitter for November. Pokemon is out, Smash and Mario Kart are out. Animal Crossing is out. The only one left that would make sense is Mario.

And if we're getting Zelda in spring, and 3D Mario in November, well... you tell me. Does that sound like a release schedule for a 7th year of Switch, or for a 1st year of Switch 2?
