@JaxonH I lost my 73 year old mother, who I love dearly, just recently, the day after christmas. You never know how much time you have. Cherish every moment left with your mother.
Anyway, I agree that amiibo are a good deal considering their price and the level of detail in their construction. I just don't really have the space to display a bunch of toys in my current living space, although I'll definitely be making an exception for the Xenoblade 2 figures.
@Ralizah
Oh wow, I had no idea. I'm sorry to hear that. That's pretty recent, so it's probably gonna take some time for it to normalize. I remember the first few days after felt like shock, so unexpected, then it starts sinking in, then after a few weeks, at least for me, things started to normalize (internally I mean- less sadness, more gratefulness for the time I was given with them).
Strange you say the day after Christmas, as my dad died Christmas night last year (woke up at 5am day after Christmas and he was gone). And it so happens his brother, my uncle Steve, passed on Christmas the year I moved to Wisconsin.
Way I see it is, it's the best day to go. Spending one last Christmas with family seems like a real blessing.
As for the amiibo, they make so many that they do actually take up quite a bit of room. I couldn't display all of them, though I do have most out (not the Animal Crossing series).
Without a game room I can imagine space is extremely limited.

@JaxonH Unfortunately, she wasn't able to spend Christmas with us. This was... at the end of a protracted hospital stay from the beginning of December. The entire last month has been, from beginning to end, almost unbearably painful. I'm only able to talk about it right now because I've been feeling very... numb... lately.
I'm also lucky to have friends and family who are loving and supportive. I'm not sure where I'd be right now without them.
I'm sorry to hear about your father and uncle. I'm sure having to deal with a sudden passing is its own sort of fresh hell.
In terms of amiibo, I think I'm fairly satisfied with where I'm at, since I have ones from a diverse array of Nintendo series. I've wanted the loftwing amiibo for a while, but was a little hesitant to pay MSRP for it. When it went down to $10 in an online sale, though, I knew it was time to swoop in.
I do have a few statues I keep on display, though. My favorite is this gorgeous Jessica Rabbit one my brother-in-law copped for me at Disney. It was expensive, but SO detailed and gorgeous.
@Giancarlothomaz They're never going to bring back F-Zero outside of re-releasing the games prior to GX on NSO, that franchise is essentially the Dark Souls of racing (though the franchise ended before the Souls franchise began) and doesn't mold well with Nintendo's stance on game difficulty since the DS/Wii era (Nintendo's current approach of easy to beat, difficult to master is a good approach though). MK8 likely acts as its replacement given the introduction of anti-gravity, Blue Falcon as a kart, Mute City and Big Blue being tracks.
@skywake so what could be the next hook for Switch sucessor? it cant simply be a Switch 2, Wii was know for it motion controls, the only evolution i could imagine Nintendo could tackle is AR/VR
My money is on DLSS. Feels like a very Nintendo tech. Very attractive for a company that needs to keep the cost of the processing power in its system down.
@Grumblevolcano yes, i 100% agree with you, F-Zero sadly will not return given Nintendo current stance on diffculty as you mentioned and Nintendo focus on Mario Kart
I know it may seem crazy right now, but I can assure you things do get better over time. I first learned that when I got served divorce papers on my birthday and while in jail for a year (might even top the time I drove home from work on lunch break, got in a wreck and totaled my car, called my job to say I'd be late coming back and they said, "don't bother, you're fired", then I walked 8 blocks home only to find my dog ate my cigarettes... I used to smoke back then).
I know that feeling of being an emotional wreck... it gets better, even if it's hard to imagine in the present moment.
I kinda wish they'd released Xenoblade 3 amiibo, and Fire Emblem Engage amiibo. But it seems they're winding down on amiibo releases. After Smash finishes, and Zelda TotK, I don't know if we'll see any more moving forward.

@Wolfleaf
Are you getting Fire Emblem Engage? The special edition comes with a very sexy steelbook. I also have an import copy of Octopath Traveler 2 preordered from Amazon France where it comes with a steelbook.
Even if you just have 4, the upside is it doesn't take much space to display. That's enough to do one full row on a shelf.
Then start working on the 2nd row with Octopath Traveler 2 (and FE Engage if you're getting it). It'll look good, especially with the ones you have.

Saw that linked tweet about Zelda TotK most likely being the last "major" title for Switch, and some people commenting that they wish Nintendo would just delay it so it can be a cross gen launch title for Switch 2.
But whose to say Switch 2 won't have a Zelda in its launch year? It's been over 3 years since Link's Awakening...
Wouldn't surprise me if the next top down Zelda was a Switch 2 title, or at least a cross gen title during the launch year.
@kkslider5552000 of course not, i like to inform everyone of what is happening in the Nintendo fera, i dont need no one paying to post news here, i have my own YouTube channel and my grandmother heritage that give me resources to live
@IceClimbers
Idk if I buy that. The guy who said it doesn't seem to know what he's talking about.
By "major" release he basically means, "massive new mainline Zelda, massive new mainline Mario, next Smash or Mario Kart".
Well ya. No kidding it'll be the last if that's your definition. There's only so many of those high profile games you can release in a generation. The fact we're already on our 2nd Splatoon, 3rd new Pokemon and extra round of Mario Kart content tells us they've tapped that well dry.
That doesn't mean it's bare bones until Switch 2 though.
Pikmin 4 is a major 1st party release as far as I'm concerned. We've still got Metroid Prime 4, and we can almost certainly conclude Metroid Prime Remastered is getting announced soon. We have two extremely reliable sources now who say F-Zero has something coming in 2023 (probably a GX remaster), Kid Icarus Uprising is likely the Bandai Namco project on the way, we'll still see more Pokemon, and as always, there will be more games announced we simply can't predict.
I think it's all a bunch of melodramatic hogwash myself.

@JaxonH Oh I definitely agree with you there. Zelda being the last "major" game for Switch (using his definition) is simply common sense. There's still plenty to be had on Switch!
That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if FE Engage, Pikmin 4, and Metroid Prime 4 are some of the last new entries of mainline franchises on Switch. I think a lot of what's left will be remakes/remasters and spinoffs, and most of the rumors are about those kinds of games (Metroid Prime 1, Kid Icarus Uprising, F-Zero GX, FE Genealogy of the Holy War, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD).
So many amazing games people just don't play, don't think they'd enjoy for whatever reason, or don't look into.
I'm going to start giving a daily shout out to some absolutely killer, must-play Switch games, some of which are being criminally overlooked.
Sniper Elite 4
This is my favorite stealth game of all time (though Sniper Elite 5 could end up topping it, I just haven't played enough of it yet to decide). The game can be played with stealth, or as a more arcade-like action game. If enemies are alerted to your presence, you can usually fight your way out of it. But if you stick to sniping from a distance, you'll avoid most of that.
But you always carry a Sniper rifle with a scope, a shotgun/rifle secondary weapon, and a pistol. All of which have extreme levels of customization that affect stats, from recoil to shot speed to mobility to accuracy to scope zoom to power to noise range and more. You can silence your weapons at the cost of other stats if you're going for stealth, or just silence the pistol and count on long range sniping being out of earshot.
The gyro aiming is spectacular. They killed it. Not only that, the game has some insanely good HD rumble where you feel your heart beat as you hold your breath zooming in for a scope shot.
There's a wide range of difficulty settings for every type of player from novice to expert, and the game allows you to customize how realistic the physics and mechanics are, such as toggling bullet drop on/off, toggling on but having a bullet drop indicator in your scope, changing whether wind speed affects bullet trajectories, etc. If you're just looking for a more arcade experience you can turn all that off and go at it (maybe keep bullet drop on but with an indicator in your scope so you still see where it'll hit).
As if all that wasn't enough, the entire AAA game is around 7 GB file size, with fast load times, co-op gameplay and online, save-anywhere, with structured mission maps that go perfectly with portable play. And to top it all off, the game looks extremely good on Switch- one of the best looking handheld games of all time until SteamDeck released and even then rivals Sniper Elite 5 on Deck. No crushed resolution or wonky framerate. Rebellion is having none of that.
If you own a Switch and have ever had even a passing interest in Sniper Elite, or Metal Gear Solid, or Splinter Cell, or are just a fan of really high quality games and are looking for an exciting new experience, PLAY THIS GAME.
They're likely deep into Switch2 development at this point. Last year is always gonna leverage ports, remasters and remakes. Even so, 2023 lineup is lookin pretty epic so far. With potential to be another glory run.

Worth adding that there are also those games that start out as remakes and become something else. Link's Awakening and A Link Between Worlds both started as LttP remakes. Also remakes can still be new even if they are remakes. I'd be more than happy with an Oracle of Seasons/Ages in the style of Link's Awakening HD
Also Metroid Dread, on paper people would probably call it a "small" game. But it's probably my favourite game on Switch. Certainly in my top 5
Plenty of stuff that could be called "not major" but is still significant
