@Anti-Matter Improve the motion controls, add more modes, and add a story campaign, and I'd probably buy it.
@Fizza Right. Not nearly enough for a game like this. For better or for worse, this would have only shined as a live-service product without robust sp offerings.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
@Ralizah I could see it having a redemption story similar to Street Fighter when it first came out (a game it was compared to for a while when it was revealed): people either really dislike or are just disinterested in the first game and then the second game takes the world by storm. Only time will tell if it gets that opportunity I suppose (and let alone if it takes advantage of it or not).
If there's one thing I always liked about ARMS though, it's the character design: every damn character in it is so memorable. Some in more ways than one if you know what I'm saying 😳
Timing is a big factor,. Unlike Splatoon's situation as a new IP where it had 3 months almost entirely to itself, ARMS was sandwiched between MK8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 (2 gigantic multiplayer games). Because ARMS and Splatoon 2 were releasing so close together, the marketing overlapped leading to situations like a Splatoon 2 trailer in the ARMS Direct.
Nintendo spreads out their multiplayer games better nowadays like how the gap between Mario Strikers and Splatoon 3 is 3 months.
@DarthNocturnal
Instead of Punch Out, I prefer K-1 got revived on modern consoles.
I don't like Punch Out gameplay style where you just only hit and dodge on the same position. It looks really unattractive for me.
I prefer Street Fighter / Tekken style with two players on Left & Right side, Health & Super Move meter, a lot of playable characters to choose.
This is K-1 gameplay on PS2 and GBA.
@Grumblevolcano e @JaxonH Nintendo will problaby release a 2D or 3D Mario around/close to the release of the Ilumination Mario movie, unless, Nintendo suprise us and release the rumored 2D Donkey Kong developed by Nintendo EPD tokyo and release the next 3D Mario on Switch sucessor.
ARMS is one of the few games after the Wii era where I've enjoyed motion controls beyond simple gyro. Actually it's the only way I really enjoy playing the game, tbh.
The game is fine IMO, but I'm also not too surprised it didn't take off in the same way Splatoon did.
A 3D fighter using motion to curve slow punches was never going to blow up, just due to its genre and unique spin not having mass appeal. Splatoon is a shooter, and let's face it- shooting things is super fun and most ppl love it. There's a reason the genre is so popular.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@JaxonH Motion gestures to trigger actions (punching, blocking, etc.) were always either not responsive enough when I needed them, or too sensitive when I didn't, triggering accidental inputs. Especially when the joycons already doubled as your means of moving around the environment to begin with.
I completed XC3 and finished all the side quests I could find. Definitely my GotY so far and has a very good chance of being overall GotY. Excited for the DLC, especially wave 4 (the new story).
Now it's time for MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 2 to get the full attention it deserves.
@NeonPizza They added customisable controls to Arms in an update. Blocking was awkward for me as well originally but after that update I mapped it to the SL/SR buttons on the Joy-Cons and that works pretty well.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Nintendo Music
@Giancarlothomaz yes, the anniversary of the film is this week and a credible leaker said something about august for Golden Eye. Plus Gamescom starts I think the day before the anniversary, so the game could launch on the anniversary date.
