@JaxonH That's the point, personal preferences. Some will say Switch has a strong year because of insane quantity and variety of releases meanwhile others will say it's kind of weak because of the lack of a BotW/Mario Odyssey type release. Similarly some will say PS5 lineup this year is strong because of the AAA blockbusters like HFW, Elden Ring and GoW Ragnarok meanwhile others will say it's weak because there's a 6 month 1st party gap between GT7 and TLoU Part 1, live service ruined GT7 and TLoU Part 1 isn't worth the price.
My view is 2022 has the potential to be the best year of the Switch.
@Grumblevolcano
Preferences are fine. Anyone can say the year looks this or that for them. But objectively speaking, this year falls in the 95th percentile for most stacked years ever. That much is indisputable.
So when certain influencers start declaring a stacked lineup as objectively weak, one of two things are true- they're holding Switch to different standard, or they confuse their own preferences as fiat.

@JaxonH yeah I'm seeing Youtubers describe this year as a slow one. Urm...where have they been the past 2 years? From the Switch side at least, this year is blowing 2020 and 2021 out of the water and will probably go down as the strongest year outside of 2017 in terms of the sheer quantity of notable releases.
The hype crowd are more interested in lack of games we don't know about than the actual games right in front of them it seems.
TWO gigantic, evolutionary steps for mainline Pokemon games.
The first fully 3D Kirby game (go home Blowout Blast, you're drunk).
The resurrection of Wii-era sports games (Switch Sports and Mario Strikers).
Two beautifully realised HD-2D games when there was concern that Octopath was a one and done (and another one's on the way in the DQIII remake as well!).
Some of the most insane 3rd party support since the Switch launched.
Multiple sequels to 2017 Switch games (Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario+Rabbids, Xenoblade Chronicles, Splatoon, the list just goes on and on).
And more to come in the future like BOTW2, Advance Wars and maybe even more Metroid. ******* bonkers.

I've not bought any of Nintendo's first party releases this year, ($80 freaking dollars!!!) mainly because I wanted to buy some smaller stuff. OH BOY does this year have some heavy hitters to choose from.
(I've only bought PLA this year as "first party" stuff goes)
@JaxonH If they're presenting opinions as fact then that's a different problem, I don't watch these kind of things in general so I don't know whether that's the case. Digital Foundry, Nintendo Life and the odd time GVG are the closest (used to watch GX years ago). I'm fine with getting info from official accounts and sites like Nintendo Life.
@Grumblevolcano
At least GameXplain doesn't give Monster Hunter the silent treatment under the new crew. Kills me seeing channels ignore Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak. It's only one of the greatest video games I've ever played in my life. No biggie.

I'm literally laying in bed playing Sunbreak, a few feet away from my dock. No reason whatsoever not to dock it and play at higher fidelity, other than I enjoy playing on the tablet more.
I don't think I'm gonna be able to hold out for that Pro model. I've had to stop myself multiple times from grabbing a pre-owned OLED tablet on ebay.

I honestly don't pay much attention to much of any "Nintendo news" channels. Especially not any of the youtubers. I think all up my tech/Nintendo news comes from some combination of:
The official Nintendo Youtube Channel for NA
The official Nintendo twitter account for AU
Vooks
This here forum
Linus Tech Tips
JayzTwoCents
very, very occasionally some articles on the frontpage of this site I inevitably end up regretting clicking on when I'm in the process of going through to the forums
I also used to listen to IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat podcast. Lost a fair about of interest in it when Rich and Audrey left so I don't listen to it anymore. I still follow Rich on twitter, not for Nintendos stuffs obviously which he doesn't post. And I also follow a couple of non-Nintendo-specific Australian gaming personalities. Bajo/Hex from the now dead GoodGame, both are Twitch streamers now and post about random games, almost universally not Nintendo stuff. Usually adds for PC retailers if we're being honest
But yeah, I have zero time for pretty much all of the "Nintendo news" that goes around. It's really pretty much all garbage. I think the only exception would be Digital Foundry who I don't subscribe to but do watch their videos occasionally, pretty much always good stuffs there. DF actually know their stuff. The rest of them aren't worth the effort of watching/reading

And yet there’s still gonna be a minority of attention seeking suck-ups that’ll say that this year’s terrible because they didn’t release Mother 3.
@jump It's just my view but I believe that ship's sailed. Buuuut... there's been a decent resurgence in 90s RPGs coming to the West so... you never know.
That's exactly what YouTubers would say, now I think about it. They'll make a video about why LIVE A LIVE's release guarantees Mother 3's on the way!
@Rambler Try a podcast over Youtube, in general podcasts aim to be a discussion of things whilst a lot of Youtubers are for the gen that was raised on Family Guy where their constant use of garbage cut away humour has forced Youtbubers to have big energy and catchphrases to keep people's attention going .
I use to like Honest Game Trailer when it used to be trailer of what the game actually is but now it's more like a roast of the game where making zingers are more important than the caricature itself.
