Bayonetta 3 looks insane, and I can't wait for it!
October is gonna be one busy month, and thank Arceus the two games releasing elsewhere that I'm interested in (Scorn, High on Life) are Game Pass titles.
The special edition and Bayonetta 1 physical are not Europe exclusive.
@JaxonH@Ralizah Bayonetta 3 is definitely the most at risk like I mentioned at the end of the comment, what I was getting at is Persona 5 Royal shouldn't be considered similar safety as Sparks of Hope. Sparks of Hope will sell at least a few million at launch just by being a Mario game and then be very high on the eshop charts every time an Ubisoft sale happens (which is extremely common).
I like those covers but I am not even going to try for the CE of Bayonetta 3. Not fighting with scalpers.

That's where pre-ordering on sites where you can pay before release helps budget .... I paid for Bayonetta 3 when it 1st went up in Game's site, so that makes no difference to my budget now! & I paid for Sparks of Hope when I pre-ordered that, as well
@BruceCM that’s bad budgeting though. A very basic rule is to never pay for something now when you can pay for it later as it means you have less money in your pocket. You wouldn’t pay your rent a whole year in advance when you can pay for it month but month.
Also Game is rubbish, they always sell at RRP and there’s loads of other places that sells things at least £10 cheaper. I haven’t paid more than £40 for a day one brand new game since forever as I don’t use places like Amazons and Game.
@Giancarlothomaz
Maybe. Either the 4th or the 6th. Hard to keep up with all the dates. Nier Automata might be the 4th or 6th also in October. Can't remember.
But basically, from Nier Automata through Harvestella one month later, it's going to be a bloodbath.

Never understood the philosophy of grouping a bunch of releases together instead of spreading them out more across the calendar.
The idea is that people buy games way more in the holiday season and they want to take advantage of that. Thankfully at least this year, there are actual games in the summer, which used to be a complete wasteland because of similar reasoning I assume.
But yeah it often backfires. I distinctly remember when Rayman Legends was delayed so it could go multi-platform the same month GTA 5 came out (Wonderful 101 being between that and Pikmin 3 is another example). Just like the other Michel Ancel game Rayman Origins which came out the same month as Ubisoft's own Assassin's Creed: Revelations. Just like the other Michel Ancel game Beyond Good and Evil which came out the same month as Ubisoft's own Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Also I would never want Bayonetta 3 to compete with Nier: Automata, that's a terrible idea.
Y’all there is drama in moving. I keep finding boxes of unopened amiibo (I open mine); it’s been so long since I bought the stuff it is like getting free gifts in here. Even have duplicates because I didn’t know what was in storage. Sigh. I haven’t even made a dent in my storage unit yet. If you hear I died, I am buried in boxes.
Edit: I may have the wrong perspective but for action fans I don’t think Bayo 3 and Nier will compete too badly against each other. Some gamers will want the newer game and others will go for both (switch only users and double dippers).

I can certainly afford to buy all these games coming out that month I want to pick up. The problem is more one of justifying picking up them all at full price on day 1 when I know I won't beat them all at once. So there are other reasons why the releases will cannibalize each other.
Rabbids was a day 1 for me.... but Bayonetta pushes it down the list. Probably into competition with Pokemon which would push it back further. And at that point we're getting close to holidays with it's flood releases/sales. Once you've delayed a purchase that long often you just end up forgetting it
I buy all my games day one. Usually the amount of money saved by waiting isn't worth the hassle and irritation of knowing there's games I want but don't own (I hate that feeling, some weird obsessive compulsion). And it's easy to lose perspective of the fact that no, you can't make room for all those games day one, in which case you may as well save some money.
Ubisoft games drop price faster than most, so that's probably a good pick if one must go on the back burner. And Bayonetta 3 needs the support most day one.
Other games like Persona 5 Royal and Nier Automata may drop, but it could take a while before they do. Games on Switch tend to drop at a slower rate due to extended sales curves compared to other platforms.
I know all too well about picking and choosing though. Got madly hooked on Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes but had to backlog it for Monster Hunter Rise. And now, I think Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Splatoon 3 may have to get backlogged, since I'll still be playing MH. Would be the first time ever I've skipped out on those series day one. Then comes October with Nier, Persona, Bayo 3 and Mario Rabbids. Will buy all day 1 as mentioned, but man... which to play first. Definitely Bayonetta 3 when that drops. Persona 5 and Nier Automata I've owned for years and just never played more than a few hrs because TV tether, so those can probably sit for a bit. Mario Rabbids can too- I haven't even finished the first one! Harvestella I'll try out a bit day one. If it hooks me great, I'll keep playing, otherwise, the backlog of Xenoblade, Splatoon, Nier, Persona and Mario Rabbids can start getting worked on. Whew. What a year.

The same is happening for me this month. I was considering klonoa, but with still playing through FE 3 Hopes, and leading up to XC3, I simply won't have the time. And because of Live A Lives release date, it'll be skipped until a later date. It'll be amplified in October with all those releases. Some will make the cut day 1 but others will have to be shelved til a later date or a sale. There's just not enough time to play everything.
I've already passed on a few games I have a strong level of interest in (Horizon Forbidden West; Ai: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative; Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes; Elechead), and will be passing on several more as the year goes on (Xenoblade Chronicles 3; Live-A-Live; Soul Hackers 2; The DioField Chronicle; and Harvestella, so far).
So far, it's looking like I'll be going with Splatoon 3, Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope, and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet for the rest of the year. Might grab a few more games if I end up passing on the Switch OLED. Advance Wars is automatically going in the "buy" pile if it ever sees the light of day again.
2023 will hopefully be an off-year for the system, and I'll be able to play catch-up with 2022 stuff.
@Ralizah I think (for the rest of this year at least), I'll be sticking to Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Scarlet, and potentially Mario+Rabbids once it goes on those typical Ubisoft sales. I'm planning on dipping into the retro library a lot more this year as well to supplement it though, namely the Mega Man Legacy Colections (can't wait for Battle Network) and Capcom Fighting Collections (I can't believe it myself. However, I shockingly loved my time in SF2 in Capcom Arcade Stadium so 22 games for €60 is a pretty fantastic deal all things considered). Besides, I'm just finishing up The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and I still haven't touched games like Pokemon Snap and Skyward Sword HD yet so I'll probably be more than sufficient for the rest of the year.

I already know I'm not getting Xenoblade 3 for two years because between wanting to play other games in general and wanting to play DE but not wanting to play a Xenoblade the same time as BOTW2...its gonna be a while.
Not to mention all the games I want is just a case of being behind other games. Like I want to try AI, but I haven't even gotten to the last Zero Escape game. And even if I had, I can't play that because I want to play Disco Elysium but I haven't because I want to play 13 Sentinels but I haven't because I want to play FFXII but I haven't because I want to play Flinthook but I haven't even gotten to any of the games I've bought but not actually tried yet
It's less so about struggling to decide what to buy and what to skip for me but more the order of playing things. Like I ditched preparing for Sunbreak because of Three Hopes launch but given the insane July lineup, I chose to play the 2 Portal games instead of returning to MH Rise after finishing the Golden Wildfire path. I did beat both Portal games but then the 7-Eleven ad appeared suggesting MK8 Deluxe DLC wave 2 is probably releasing tomorrow at the latest so MH Rise is still on hold (I will unlock the ability to play Sunbreak eventually).
Of the upcoming July releases XC3 is the priority so while I am buying Live a Live at launch, it'll be immediately sent to backlog but frees up an extra week.
Unexpected but it does makes sense. Ninty have been talking about going full time making movies and have set up a new subsidiary to handle it recently so them getting a Japanese studio (since they are still funny working with gajins) to churn yearly films makes sense and is better than the alternative of working with the people who make drivel like Minions.
