@Kermit1
This SwitchForce guy sure knows how to overreact.
He feels offended because NL asked a question and made a poll?
I love Nintendo Directs just as much as him, but part of journalism is asking the tough questions.
Offended? Come on!
Spawnwave is ok, but even he's been annoying me lately.
Like, God of War got a release date and suddenly he makes a video implying now PS has this amazing H2 lineup and Nintendo doesn't all because they didnt have some blowout 1st party direct... huh? What are you smoking? Off the back of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak we have Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Live A Live, Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, Harvestella, Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and likely one more- maybe Advance Wars or Metroid Prime.
That's like... gargantuan. At least two of those will be 15 million+ sellers, one will be 20-25 million. And that's not even making mention of long awaited hype games such as Persona 5 Royal, No Man's Sky and Nier Automata. They might not be "new" but they're hype, and they're definitely going to fill out the library and even be more exiting than most "new" games for many Switch gamers.
Aside from that, he made quips about Bayonetta 3 and how the "yaaaaa the framerate wasn't looking too good, haha, when they last showed it" and it's like dude, are you counting frames just looking for something to pick apart? The game looked fine. It's clearly running 60 frames, too.
Basically every Nintendo YT annoys me now. BeatEmUps and WulffDen just talk about how they'd rather play everything on Steamdeck now. And as a Deck owner who loves the device I can appreciate the adoration but, I certainly don't feel that way and I have other channels I watch for Deck content. I come here for Switch. And I'm not a fan of watching Switch YT who keep going on about how they prefer to play their games on anything but a Switch.
Arlo is off in Elden Ring land for months now. Like he's going through his teenage phase where he finally discovers gritty, "mature" titles and loses all interest in discussing Nintendo content. And if he does it's to talk about crap like the Kirby food multiplayer game. Not the good stuff like Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak (despite him apparently loving the base game) or Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes or Xenoblade or what have you.
Even IGN Voice Chat podcast, whenever they do their "What we're playing segment" is always a tangent of all these PS and Xbox games because they're not actually playing Switch.
It seems every Nintendo YT channel is like this now. They're not really Switch fans. And it would be one thing if the PS and Xbox and PC centric channels talked about Switch as much as the Switch channels talk about PS/Xbox/PC, but they don't. No matter how big the game, no matter how good, it gets the silent treatment. Only time they mention Switch is to take a dump on it.
The ONLY channel I genuinely love where you can tell they're TRUE Switch fans and don't annoy the crap out of me is SwitchUp. These guys play Switch. They appreciate the multiplat games and don't just tell their viewers how, "it's great if you don't have a better option". So tired of hearing that crap. I don't play on Switch because I "don't have better options" I play Switch because it's my preferred option. For most Switch YT channels that just doesn't seem to compute for them, though. And SwitchUp actually values gyro aiming, and keeps up with all the high quality releases, not just "Mario, Kirby and Zelda" like countless others.
Despite the bad take from SwitchWatch above though, I actually do like some of his videos. Maybe it's just my own bias appreciating someone who gives Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak its due, but that's more than can be said for most of them.
@JaxonH
You know what, something interesting happened to some Youtubers over there when the gaming choice became heat topic.
I understand sometimes peoples might change their interest, sometimes they might return to their old interest.
Life is unpredictable.
At the same, i'm playing Youtubers Life 2 on PS4, become a virtual Youtuber in video game and dealing with game conference, uploading videos, having relationship with the folks in Newtube City, etc. 😁
@JaxonH Just a symptom of the larger cultural shift in Nintendo's fanbase this generation, IMO. Nintendo has been catering very heavily to the newer demographic of Japanese and handheld gaming fans they've pulled in from their handheld line, from disaffected Playstation fans, etc. Whereas most Nintendo "influencers" are typically old guard fans of Nintendo's home consoles, specifically, which have historically been (since the N64, anyway) first-party ghettos that one returns to a few times per generation to play the latest "AAA" Nintendo entry in series like Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, etc. Most such fans would rather play other games on "real" consoles. A large subset of these people are often those who are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with Japanese media outside of the most mainstream gaming franchises from that region like Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, etc.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
As Nintendo YT goes I mainly just watch NinendoLife, SpawnWave, Arlo, and random nintendo video essays.
Any and all Nintendo and gaming news channels I never watch, I don't want to watch someone bicker about Nintendo and how they are the worst ever and all of gaming is evil yet they still like to buy stuff from them. I just don't care, I respect that you have an opinion I just don't want to watch it.
If I want Nintendo news I read NIntendoLife for some good reads.
@JaxonH To be fair, if you're burnt out on Pokemon (which is understandable given the frequency of mainline games is even more extreme than CoD) but you skew more towards mainstream games there's not much this 2nd half for Switch (Splatoon 3 and to a much less extent Sparks of Hope).
@Grumblevolcano Splatoon 3, Sparks of Hope, and Bayonetta 3 are more than enough new exclusive games for half a year, considering you don't even want to count Pokémon.
It's impossible to agree with someone all the time, I just want them to talk about the stuff they like.
Nintendo Life, Good Vibes Gaming, Arlo, Easy Allies and Spawn Wave all do a good job when it comes to that, I believe. Of course they'll talk about stuff that disappointed them from time to time, but the majority of their videos bring the good vibes.
@HotGoomba I remember when he only did clickbait Animal Crossing news. He and NintenTalk got soo annoying, breaking down word for word the most non news things ever.
@alexwolf Quantity there's an insane amount but on the mainstream side of things there's Splatoon 3, Pokemon and to a smaller extent Sparks of Hope (Mario is mainstream but strategy is niche). So if you're more into mainstream games, TLoU Part 1 + GoW Ragnarok + a load of big 3rd party games that won't come to Switch (e.g. Gotham Knights) will likely be a stronger lineup for those people.
@Grumblevolcano
Eh, that's like saying, "if you're not into the plethora of games coming out there's nothing to look forward to". Well sure. If you're not into God of War there's nothing to look forward to there, either. Pokemon is massive. Mario Rabbids is massive. Splatoon is massive. There are multiple massive games, and even more games in total.
At least on Switch there's well over half a dozen exclusives which, if none of those suit your taste, why even consider yourself a Switch gamer.
