I was put off the Switch funnily enough for a long time due to going over bad reviews on YouTube etc. Yet I am glad I bit the bullet two months ago and finaly purchased one.
You've piqued my interest. I'd like to understand more about your perception of Switch before you bought in. Here it was, averaging 20 million units sold over 5 years, with the game that got the most universal praise I've ever witnessed as a launch title, but you were put off by bad reviews. What were these bad reviews focusing on, and what were they saying?
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
Don't want to watch those, @Yoshi2 .... Can we just have the main points they made? & When were they made?
Certainly seems like you'd have been better off ignoring them or looking for more positive ones to get a balance
@Yoshi2
Switch isn't perfect, that's for sure, but a lot of the complaints leveraged against it are weak arguments- things the vast majority of people aren't bothered by. Or they're things that can largely be tolerated or overlooked when weighed against the benefits and appeal of the system.
I've found anyone can rattle off a list of critiques for just about anything if they want to make it look as bad as possible. But without putting those critiques in proper context alongside the pros, it's easy to be misled and come to a biased conclusion. And once that seed has been planted, confirmation bias can then become a major hindrance.
Which is why I never watch videos that only focus on a narrative of something being bad. Right off the bat it's a biased perspective. Omitting the positives always results in an unbalanced viewpoint. Likewise for omitting the negatives.
Best to find real gamers who own the system and ask them what their overall thoughts are. Pros and cons both taken into account, how much do they enjoy the system? I know about 10 ppl with a Switch besides myself. Some use it more than others, some like it more than others, but I don't think a single one would say they wouldn't recommend owning one (especially the OLED).

After almost forty years of enjoying the hobby, having owned most of the mainstream consoles at one point or another, the Switch stands as my favorite of all-time. Even though I feel that the joy-con are among one of the worst controllers Nintendo have ever produced (I haven't used a pair that lasted more than six months; all of them suffered drift eventually), that doesn't detract from how I feel about the platform. It wasn't the first to give the hybrid design a try (Sega Nomad and/or Turbo Express tried it first), but the Switch is the best example of the idea.

I've been waiting on this! Ever since KOTOR released I've been badgering Aspyr to release the sequel. I'm so glad it's coming, and soon.
Perfect games for Switch. And they fixed the large text issue in the first game, so this should definitely be on point.

Star Wars Celebration has been such a great time for game news. I never expected KotOR II to be announced, nor a trailer for Jedi: Fallen Order's sequel to drop. Before this second day of the event, I'd had little hope that any gaming news beyond Star Wars Hunters would be here - as that was the only one with an actual panel.
But now, with two days left, there's every possibility we get more. And I seriously hope we do. It'd be great to see something new - that's not a mobile game or port - be announced to be coming to the Switch. And if anyone has anything ready, Celebration is the best place to show it.

@Grumblevolcano its not really out of nothing. these days are the Star Wars celebration days (until 29th of may.) so we might expect more today and tomorrow.
Have a nice day. Voiceactor: The Pirates! (Sony/Aardman 2012) - The Passion: A Brickfilm (Neema 2019) - The Torchlighters: The Story of John Newton (Vision Video 2022)
@Grumblevolcano Who needs E3 when you just have E(veryone else).
I'm getting antsy for some Pokemon news myself, I don't want the Great Pokemon News Drought of 2021 to happen again (it hopefully won't since it was very much because BDSP and PLA were linked together but it still makes me worried whenever we get past May and there's still nothing).

@kkslider5552000 There was not a single bit of news between February (the reveal) to August (the Pokemon Presents) apart from the release dates, box-arts and a tiiiiiiiny bit of BDSP gameplay in the Switch OLED reveal trailer. It was absolute hell when we knew next to nothing about both, particularly PLA. The August trailers were fantastic but still, was it ever painful.

@kkslider5552000 After February 2021 reveal for BDSP and Legends Arceus, the only info we got on them before August 2021 was release dates revealed in June 2021 and a small snippet of gameplay in the Switch OLED reveal in July 2021 so it was very much an info drought for those 2 games.
Never afraid to step forward and be the ****, I'm gonna do it again... KOTOR II being announced really should have been to the surprise of no-one. The moment they announced KOTOR I've been expecting the sequel to follow. Just a matter now of waiting for the physical release (pls pls pls be both games on one card).
You guys had me at blood and semen.

@gcunit
Surprise? Not exactly. It only made sense they'd bring it over after the first. But that's still not guaranteed. There's lots of games that make perfect sense for Switch, that you'd think would be brought over, and yet never come.
Relief and excitement? Absolutely.

@gcunit@JaxonH The biggest thing that made KOTOR II not a guarantee is the game was originally developed by Obsidian, a studio that got acquired by Microsoft in 2018. Yes, Microsoft have been rather generous for Switch owners even as recent as January with Banjo-Kazooie added to NSO Expansion Pack but Microsoft's ultimate goal with Switch is obviously to convince Nintendo to allow Game Pass on it so they may change tactics at some point to try and achieve that goal.
