Automatically a 10/10 with the 3 Persona games and Nier Automata. Some of my favourite games of all time, really really recommended to everyone.

Low-key exciting announcement was a remake of Pac-Man World.

Switch is getting a surprisingly solid collection of PS1 platformers.

The direct was good, I'm sleepy and it's only 10:29AM where I'm at.

These were the only things that really caught my eye:

Yeah honestly for a stupid dumb Partner Showcase, I actually really liked it.

Absolutely amazing direct, definitely one of the best ones in terms of what Switch needed from its lineup the most, the only game missing to call this the perfect Direct would be the Batman: Arkham Collection, but let's not be too greedy... Harvestella and Return to Monkey Island seem very interesting games as well, and the Portal games are already out today, which should satisfy the thirst from the relative drought of games during the summer period.

So I guess this means if you're Switch-only you're getting two new Platinum games this year.

Maybe this means NieR Replicant is also coming at some point.

@alexwolf What drought? June is swimming in new releases like AI: The Somnium Files - Nirvana Initiative, Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Elechead, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, etc. Next month is Xenoblade 3.

Very good Partner Showcase. Didn't expect Portal to be a shadow drop release, Battle Network is being freed from Wii U VC, Live a Live got a demo, Persona 5 Royal is finally coming to Switch meaning Joker actually belongs in Smash (similar situation to Cloud in Smash 3DS/Wii U), Nier Automata looks interesting and there's a bunch of other stuff I'm interested in.

I do like that they started with Sunbreak even though it's launching in only 2 days, doing a Direct a few days before launch felt like that DLC may fall under the radar but starting with it keeps the focus on it.

It's crazy that Square can port NieR, but not the old Kingdom Heart games?

I will give this game another shot if this port is done right. I beat it once on PS4 and never bothered to do the other routes.

Obviously Persona and Nier were the highlights, but I liked the look of Harvestella as well.
Pac-Man World remake was most unexpected- I don’t dislike it, I’m just unsure why it exists.

Harvestella is weird. It clearly looks like a pretty competent AA effort from a major publisher, however that name sounds like a title an indie would give to a generic Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley knock off.

Portal 1 and 2 are out RIGHT NOW via the Portal Collection, and for only $19.99, and they have gyro aiming!

Guys, these 2 games are like, top 10 of all time level masterpieces. If you haven't played them, absolutely do not skip this.

Is there any info when the Battle Network Collection releases? Can't wait for that!

Confirmed per a redditer on Portal Collection:

It's out already for those unaware!

Edit: 7.3gb for portal 2, 2.6gb for portal. Both download separately.

Edit 2: 60fps for both titles, both look native 720p in handheld. Very surprising.

Edit 3: portal contains all the 'still alive' content, bonus maps and developer commentary, also has achievements. Portal 2 doesn't have the custom maps feature of the steam version but that's to be expected, all coop content included and some bonus videos.

Edit 4: both have gyro controls.

At £13.49 this package is the steal of the century, if you have even a passing interest don't pass this up.

@JaxonH Quick question: because they're separate downloads, can you buy them both individually or do you have to get the Companion Collection in order to play either of them?

Pretty sure it's both games for $20 USD.

They download separately though. But you want both of them, trust me.

With Capcom going so far to save the games that were trapped on 3DS and Wii U (for example the only Mega Man games missing are Mega Man & Bass and Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge) it feels like the 2nd Ace Attorney trilogy should be the next collection after Battle Network.

@Grumblevolcano Also Star Force and Legends still flounder in being unavailable on modern systems. And yeah, the lack of a proper English release of Megaman and Bass is still terrible. And then there's the special releases like 5 Double Team, and Operation Shooting Star that are forever missing.

But battle chip challenge / network transmission? I think those can stay buried. And 4.5 is basically unsalvageable due to being early toys to life.

Nintendo is not pumping the brakes at all. This is gonna be a Best Buy elite year (guess who just noticed that BB nerfed everything? Guess it’s back to amazon). I can feel it. My finances are shot right now but come nov I will have a very long post in the recently purchased thread.

I really need Squeenix’s take on rune factory to be good.
