Good. I hope it does.

Cause we already have enough 1st party games releasing the rest of the year.

What I want to see is Persona and Batman.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

Nintendo IP and Nintendo published releases for the 2nd half of 2022 so far is:

  • July 22nd - Live a Live (developed by Square Enix, published by Nintendo)
  • July 29th - XC3
  • September 9th - Splatoon 3
  • November 18th - Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
  • 2022 - Bayonetta 3 (developed by PlatinumGames, published by Nintendo)
  • 2022 - Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope (developed by Ubisoft, uses Nintendo IP)

XC3 already got a Direct, Splatoon 3 will likely get its own Direct in July/August, Pokemon will probably get a Pokemon Presents in August and the rest are 3rd party releases so could appear in a Partner Showcase.

Not sure what Advance Wars would count as given the original games are 1st party but the remake was done by a 3rd party (WayForward) but that game has no release year attached so may not even appear this year.

Megaman 11 was pretty difficult from the stage aspect so I choose Newcomer difficulty to have Unlimited lives and could finish the game easily.

So is Live a Live, really 6-7 games in one or is it one giant super long game set in different time periods.

@Kermit1
It works a bit like Octopath Traveler in that each character goes through their own story first and then all of them come together in the end to fight the big bad.

@Tremblucay Never played Octopath Traveller but that sounds cool.

(I'll download the prologue for Octopath later today! been needing to try it out)

  • Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes
  • Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak
  • Live A Live
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3
  • Splatoon 3
  • Bayonetta 3
  • Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
  • Advance Wars 1+2 Re-boot Camp
  • Mario Rabbids Spark of Hope

These are the exclusives between now and December 31st, the end of the year 6 months away.

That's a stacked lineup- an average of 1.5 exclusives per month for 6 straight months. We honestly don't have room for more, unless Nintendo really wants to overdo it.

What we need is hype 3rd party games to go alongside them.

@Kermit1
Think Octopath Traveler but with an overarching story that ties all paths together, as they take place in different time periods over the ages.

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

Out of those games, how many of them are evergreens? Pokemon.
The rest of these games are not for everyone. And Pokemon falls under that category as well for many people.
I'm not saying they are bad games, they are not, but for anyone that has only interest in 1 or 2 games, it's not a good line up.
The evergreens are missing. Like a Zelda, Donkey Kong, (mainline)Mario etc.
I myself am happy about XC3, Pokemon and Splatoon. But that are just my tastes. If I wouldn't be a huge fan of XC and Splatoon there would be only 1 game left this year. Just an excample.

@Budda When you're talking about the strength of a release schedule for a console, you're primarily talking about the quality and diversity of software on offer. Slapping back that people with ultra-specific tastes have little to play isn't really convincing, since that's true by default.

Nothing against people who only buy Nintendo consoles for Mario and Zelda games, of course. That's their business. But their dissatisfaction is less a reflection of Nintendo's weakness as a publisher versus their own unwillingness to branch out and explore a wider variety of software.

@Budda I'd argue Splatoon 3 as well which matches 2017 (Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey being the evergreen titles for Switch in the 2nd half of that year).

@Budda
No game is "for everyone". And being evergreen is typically the exception for games, not the rule.

A diverse software lineup explicitly includes games that aren't mass market evergreen titles. And a lot of them. Switch is doing precisely that.

For those that only play mass market "evergreen" titles, 2022 has offered Pokémon Legends Arceus (will be 20+ million seller, consistently in Amazon best sellers list), Switch Sports (10+ million seller, still in Amazon best sellers list), Splatoon 3 (will be a 15+ million seller), Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak (base game already sold 9+ million, 8 of which was on Switch), and Pokémon Scarlet/Violet (will be a 20+ million seller). That's plenty of mass market, evergreen, Switch/console exclusive titles.

Obviously someone who isn't into any of the other games won't be as impressed, but that's their problem, to be frank. Those people can go play something else. But for the rest of us who don't limit ourselves to "mass market evergreens", this year is one for the history books.

Of course. You guys are totally right. I didn't want to water down any of the games. The more the better. Obviously. And it is a strong line up and I love it. But what I said wasn't what I actually trying to say from the looks of it.
Trying to explain what I actually wanted to say would take too long and wouldn't help either. I'd probably mess things up even more.
I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

@Budda
No need to apologize. It's all good.

Just clarifying that of course, not every game will be for every person. That's always true, for any year's lineup on any system. But this is arguably the best lineup Switch has had of any year to date, and previous years' lineups were enough to launch it to record breaking success. How much more, then, will this year continue that trend? If it's enough to keep selling the console at record pace, it's fair to say the lineup is more than sufficient overall.

On a side note, I think ppl put too much stock into mass market popularity nowadays. Back in the day, people just played whatever looked interesting. A game selling 1 million copies was considered a huge success. Even mainstream, to an extent. Yet nowadays a game can sell 2-5 million copies on a single platform and be considered "niche". People thought Square Enix was crazy when they said 4 million wasn't enough for their massive AAA Tomb Raider reboot across multiple platforms. Because 4 million across multiple platforms as a AAA title seemed very good. Yet on Switch, plenty of games sell in that range, and without being AAA, and without multiple platforms, and they're disregarded as having niche appeal. It's absolutely nuts. Especially when games like Final Fantasy VII Remake do 5 million on PS4 + PS5 + PC as a huge AAA title with an incredible marketing push.

Imo, any game that sells 2+ million on one single platform is a massive success with broad appeal. Which is pretty much every single game in the lineup this year. Maybe Live A Live won't reach that goal, but I bet it breaks 1 million. Which is still really great for an HD-ified remake of a JP-exclusive SNES JRPG.

It's really hard to try other games that you don't have interest with them before especially the not so popular games.
But once you stepping out a little bit from your comfort zone (playing those games without doubt), voila...!
You have discovered something enjoyable to play. Trust me.
I did the same thing and have discovered something new from the games I don't have interest with them before. It was expanding my gaming horizons and my gaming experiences to play never before played games. I dare myself to get into those games, with some risk of being disappointed if I found the games were actually not for me.
I'm sure the unpopular games are still acceptable to play even they are not really appealing to you from your first impression. The next impression might be changed after you play the game by yourself.
Btw, what kind of games do you like to play?
And what do you think about the not so popular 3rd party games ?

....OMG Nintendo's eShop page on the website has been updated, I can finally browse the games that are on sale there without the entire page lagging and eventually freezing up. Now if only they would fix the eShop on the Switch.

Anyways yeah, not a big deal, just putting this out there if you're tired of sometimes waiting an eternity for the Switch's eShop to load a handful of games every five seconds. xD

@Joeynator3000 That's why I just use third-party websites like Deku Deals. Once I know what I want, I just go directly the game and buy it. No dealing with the laggy eshop.
