@Yoshi2 Yes, I'm pretty sure that's the whole appeal of them (Unless NoE is really different than NoA in how they ran it)

@Grumblevolcano Yeah, it's been radio silent... I mean usually this is when E3 news starts popping up, so I guess that's probably why. Nintendo's summer direct (if it happens, and I think it will) won't be announced ahead of time without E3, Microsoft is probably still internally scrambling to reconfigure their release plans now that A-B merger is going ahead to avoid as much self-competition as possible, and Sony... well, they don't really release much at all anyways anymore? We got a single collection released for the... third time? (Uncharted) and Horizon, plus MLB (which I personally don't care about) and that's all they have for this year's schedule afaik? God of War is 2022, maybe, assuming no delays but...

Would the Switch be Nintendo's most successful console overall since the SNES?

@Yoshi2

Most people tend to forget that the Wii technically "won" the generation against the Xbox 360 and PS3. The Wii was the only one of the three to sell 100m+ consoles with the PS3 selling second-best. Then we have the 360, which sold around 86m, but had a RRoD failure rate of almost 60%. So from one perspective the 360 sold well. But how many of those sales were from return customers whose 360s were past their warranty?

So, any thoughts on those mystery maintenance games. If real.....

my probably wrong predictions are:

Metroid Prime remake
Netflix (just kidding)
Tetris the rpg
GBA/GBC/GB switch online app
1,2,3, switch

these are just random guesses (and kinda a joke)

@link3710 Even with the multiplatform stuff I honestly can't think of anything coming in May and June outside of Sonic Origins and the Capcom Fighting Collection.

Edit: I looked it up and there's Evil Dead: The Game and Sniper Elite 5 in May, but that's about it until Saints Row and Soul Hackers 2 in late August. That's.... really bad honestly. I would hope things will pick up after that.

@IceClimbers Switch is pretty stacked in June. Or are you just talking about the competition?

@IceClimbers Yeah, Sony seems content to not really try and communicate this gen and assume it won't affect them. But with the lead they had over Xbox last gen, who knows?

link3710

BruceCM

Well, their lead could turn into XBox going ahead, @link3710 .... But then there's not that much coming to either console really, so that's probably a factor The games won't really be aimed at the current gen consoles while those are still hard to obtain, though! I dunno why they wanted to release them when they did but there we go

@Ralizah I was talking more about the competition, and really more about 3rd party releases than Sony or Microsoft's titles.

June and July are gonna be stacked for Switch!

@link3710 Even in Microsoft's case I think they could be communicating more. I think they need a really strong showcase showing that their acquisitions from the past few years are actually bearing fruit. When are we getting Avowed or Hellblade II? How far off is Perfect Dark?

I miss the vouchers. NA consistently gets shafted. Shafted on vouchers, shafted on physical releases, shafted on collector editions. It's just all around good, quality shafting across the board 😉

Finally got some good gear in Splatoon 2. Sucks starting from scratch, but it only took about 10-15 hrs to get a solid set of 4 slot gear with skills I wanted.

I'm so into it I used a vacation day today to play Splatoon 2. That's crazy for a 5 year old game I already played.

BTW, check out this Switch to PS4 comparison of Zombie Army 4. Possibly the smallest gap between versions for a AAA game to date? Played some an hour ago. Gyro is flawless, HD rumble is flawless, graphics and performance is top notch. And it's fun as heck. I love it.

@IceClimbers My predictions for if Xbox has a big event is something like:

  • Redfall
  • Starfield
  • Forza Motorsport
  • As Dusk Falls
  • Grounded leaving early access
  • 360 Gears collection (360 Halo servers were shut down in January so I could see the same happen to Gears soon)
  • Age of Empires for console
  • Forza Horizon 5 expansion 1
  • Halo Infinite Battle Royale
  • Sea of Thieves update
  • A load of 3rd party games coming to Game Pass day 1

Always happy to share in the shafting of our US brethren, but don't you guys routinely get tech things cheaper than Europe in the first place, so while we might get what appears to be better discounts at times, really those discounts are just evening things up a bit, no?

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Can the vouchers be used for physical copys or just download copys ?

Ninfan

Ralizah

@Ninfan They make digital purchases of Nintendo's major releases cheaper.

I've been hearing about apparent leaks for the starter evolutions in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet recently (haven't seen any designs THANK GOD) and it's made me realise why these kinds of leaks in particular are so aggressively annoying: unless the person who made them comes out and says they made them, you'll never know if they're real or fake until the games actually come out. It's the worst thing knowing that they're most likely or probably not real, but there'll always be the niggling thought of: but what if it is? I guess this is true for a lot of game leaks but it's especially pertinent for Pokemon with the sheer amount you have to deal with.
