What was originally gonna be put in July only to be delayed, making room for XC3? Advance Wars was meant to come out in December, and is in limbo for the time being. I'd put my bets on Splatoon being the delayed game, and that BotW would have come out in September, if not for the delay.

So slotting XC3 in means it's been finished for enough time they can just slot it in whenever they want, and that other games have no doubt been delayed to compensate.

On a side note I wonder how pissed Square Enix is right now with Xenoblade 3 releasing literally 1 week after Live A Live. The game's sales will undoubtedly be affected by this given that the two games have the same audience.

@IceClimbers Probably not very given Nintendo is once again listed as the publisher.

So they got their money either way.

I don't think SE would've thrown away all their profits for a release in America just so they wouldn't be the ones to publish a game here. Unless it comes out Nintendo actively funded the remake itself or something, which I doubt.

I wonder what we get September and/or Oktober. Something tells me it's something that will surprise us. The next general Direct can't come soon enough!

I'd be shocked if Live-a-Live sells particularly well regardless.

This timing definitely means I'll also be waiting on Soul Hackers 2, though, which comes out in August.

Judging by Octopath, I think I'll buy Live a Live at launch but not play it until after finishing Xenoblade 3. I was interested in Octopath but chose not to buy at launch because of Xenoblade 2 (challenge battle DLC released in June 2018 and there were still plenty of quests I still hadn't completed) and Captain Toad but when I finally got around to buying Octopath, the physical version was discontinued so it was much harder to find new (I managed to find it but the point is it being very difficult to find).

@Ralizah Perhaps, I was just thinking that if BotW 2 is tied to new hardware that the main Xenoblade team may also support BotW 2.

As for the September release, I guessed Zelda Wii U ports for July so maybe that for September (I had predicted Splatoon 3 for August and sticking with it). Or maybe Nintendo's worried about Platinum so they're going to give sizable space for Bayonetta 3 to breathe. Something definitely does seem wrong given the whole new live service focus situation.

Clearly something is slated for September time frame and Nintendo wants to give it room to breathe.

Either Splatoon 3 isn't ready yet and needs more time, and being pushed back to September meant Xenoblade 3 could slide forward and take the mid summer spot

Or, a 2nd or 3rd party game is releasing in September and Nintendo wants to give it a wide enough berth to appease the publisher. Perhaps Bayonetta 3 or Mario Rabbids? I doubt Rabbids needs the room. The prior game sold millions. But Bayonetta 3 would need all the help it can get, especially after Babylon's Fall. Platinum can't afford another bust. They need this game to be a hit to restore publisher faith for future contracts.

Both are equally likely. Either Splatoon 3 switched its tentative spot with XC3, or Nintendo is giving Bayonetta 3 the space it needs to improve its chance of success.

Just beat the 4th Chapter of Great Ace Attorney Adventures.

  • Was not expecting it to actually end up being an accident, that kind of stuff doesn't really happen in AA cases so it was definitely refreshing to see. Also, I cannot be the only one seeing the parallels between result of this case and Big Top Turnabout? A short, weighty (choosing my words carefully here) individual with blonde hair with a fruit in their name reaching down to grab/look at something, only to have something life-threatening fall on their back as they did so. It feels like such an intentional detail, you know?
  • Poor Roly Beate. The dude basically worked almost all the time and on the one night in which he wanted to treat his wife with the little money he had, a crime was committed on his beat. That whole part of the cross-examination turned him from a dopey, ignorant policeman into a genuinely kind and thoughtful husband. Once again, a perfect example of how AA can switch between sheer madness and silliness to genuine seriousness and heart-wrenching moments. I feel so bad for the guy.
  • The Garrideb's being the unknowing culprit was pretty well-done, tying back to Herlock's words during the investigation of how not everything will lead to answers, throwing you off the scent completely. The breakdown at the end where Joan falls into John's arms, mirroring what happened during the deduction, only to then double over due to his knee was perfect as well.
  • WHO THE HELL ARE THE JESTER AND THE 40 YEAR-OLD SCHOOLBOY. They were just casually dropped at the end of the investigation phase and were never seen again. I hope they're a major part of the next case because they just leave me with more questions than answers right now.
  • I was not prepared to see Herlock without his coat humina humina.

To summarise: marriage is a two-sided coin.

I think XC3's July release opens September for Advance Wars 1+2.

Lets not get too excited, folks.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten a Mario Strikers trailer yet. Three Hopes, Live a Live and Xenoblade 3 release after it and we have trailers for each.

I’m still wondering when Nintendo knew they were likely going to have to delay BoTW 2 and whether the timings make it possible for a WW HD port started then to be slotted in this year.

If I were them and I had that game ported and “ready to go” I’d probably wait until after the Wii U eshop closes before announcing it.

WW HD was a players choice game on Wii U and it must to some extent have hurt sales of Tropical Freeze and NSMBU that they were basically giving away those games on Wii U whilst charging full price on Switch.

@StuTwo It's the Nintendo Selects nature of WWHD that makes me think a Switch release would be bundled with TPHD. NSMBU Deluxe did very well but was a bundle of NSMBU and NSLU, 3D World did very well but also had the new Bowser's Fury expansion, Pikmin 3 Deluxe became the best selling Pikmin game but came with the new side stories for Olimar and Louie as well as all the DLC from the Wii U game. Meanwhile Tropical Freeze only added in an easy mode (Funky Kong) and is still the worst selling mainline DK game (a shame as it's a fantastic game).

@StuTwo @Grumblevolcano Yeah I don't see how they could possibly try to rerelease Wind Waker for a second time at full price. I expect a bundle with Twilight Princess as well.

Skyward Sword could at least be justified by being its first remastering in HD, as well as having touched up controls.

WW and TP would more-or-less be straight ports with some gamepad features shifted around a little.

That said, who knows with these pricing models sometimes...

At least 2'8".

BruceCM

Would the 2 together be£70 or 60$ +, then, @Buizel ....? I'd imagine they'd get individual eshop releases, anyway

StuTwo

@Grumblevolcano the Nintendo Selects release of NSMBU already had NSLU bundled in.

Really they should just release straight ports in at a budget price. They won’t but they should.

Either way they should take the chance to get one of their best ever games on their biggest selling platform. Like SMB, MARIO 64, alttp and Super Metroid, WW should always be available to play on a current system. Once the Wii U eshop goes it’s physical on a retro system or nothing for the game (meaning it’s basically impossible for Nintendo themselves to make money on a game that’s always going to be highly recommended).

@BruceCM I'd suggest bundling both for retail price (£55-£60? can't remember what it is).

I think they'd struggle** to market and sell 2 (additional) full-price Zelda rereleases to anyone but the most dedicated Zelda fans (most would choose one or the other, neither, or wait for a sale). On the other hand the value proposition of 2 games in 1 bundle might interest people just getting into the series, and may even sway people that were otherwise interested in only one of the games ("I wouldn't pay £60 for Wind Waker, but as long as I'm getting Twilight Princess as well..."). It's not like there's a shortage of Zelda games on the Switch.

** "struggle" is relative. I'm well aware that these games would sell millions regardless of price point.

Slowly getting through the last world in Banjo-Kazooie. Been playing through Clicky Clock Wood (or whatever it's called) for the better part of a week now with an almost abusive use of save states. This level feels like it never ends.

Amazingly, I think this is my least liked platformer ever at this point. There's almost no redeeming value to it. I should probably just drop it, but I'm so close to the end, and, like with Mario 64, I know it'd gnaw at me if I wasn't able to say I completed it, even if only so I could rag on it with some legitimacy.

Unlike with Mario, though, I won't be completing it. Just trying to get the (absurdly high) minimum number of jiggies so I can finish it.
