  • Saves are tied to the console itself, not the micro SD card. A system transfer of your Profile will carry your save data to the next system
  • Games stored on the micro SD cannot be read by another system. You will need to reformat the card in the new system, then redownload your games from the eShop under "Redownload" from the menu you see after clicking your user icon in the top right. No more than 64 concurrent downloads allowed at one time, so if you queue up more than that, you'll need to let some finish installing before queuing up more
  • Cloud saves are convenient for bouncing between multiple Switch systems and for archival purposes in case you lose/damage your Switch, but they're not really meant for permanent transfers. That's what the system Profile Transfer is for.

Thanks for the info.

Hearing they're recoding Ark Survival Evolved on Switch from scratch, along with all the new content, was pretty surprising.

That game was definitively the worst Switch port of all time. Anything less than a full code re-write would be insufficient. And yet... that's exactly what they're doing. I can't believe they actually hired a studio to rebuild the game for Switch.

Here's to hoping it turns out well. I'd love to play the game on Switch (I have it on Steam, but got tired of the endless daily update patches and uninstalled it). Certainly can't turn out any worse, that's for sure.

@JaxonH As in they're removing the original version and replacing it with the new one or are they making the most monstrous patch of all time? I'm assuming the former.

@Fizza
They're rebuilding from scratch for the newest version with newer content, and anyone who bought the first version gets a free upgrade.

But it won't be a patch. It's a complete code re-write. The previous release was unsalvageable.

So what does the release schedule look like for switch for 2022? Trying to plan accordingly with purchases and games to start playing. I want a clear slate for XC3.

Welp, that announcement completely changed my plans for the next few months.

So, either Splatoon 3 need a little more time in the oven, or we're about to get the new release date for Advance Wars. That's my guess, anyway. Clearly something is taking Xenoblade's September slot.

@Grumblevolcano stinks I'll have to cram strikers, 3 hopes, Live a Live and XC3 all in a short amount of time. I think I would've preferred XC3 to have the original September release date.

BruceCM

Well, that's certainly a nice surprise .... You could wait until September to play XC3 if you like, @NintendoByNature? I think that'll take priority for me over anything else around the time & there'll be enough time for Live A Live before much else comes along, though

Unfortunately, the timing of XC3 means I'll be pushing off Three Hopes, MHR Sunbreak, and AI: The Somnium Files 2 so that I have time to clean up the current crop of games I'm playing before it releases.

As in you'll still play those eventually, @Ralizah ....? I imagine so, at least! I'll probably manage to finish 3 Hopes before XC3, anyway Forgotten about AI Somnium 2 but that'll have to wait a bit

@BruceCM Yeah, I'm not gonna not play major releases like those. Especially considering I'm still hyped for them. But XC3 is going to be a gigantic, months-long affair, so I'd prefer to have distractions reduced to a minimum before then.

It does mean I'll be waiting for sales, though. My rule with games I don't pick up at launch is that they need to enjoy at least a moderate discount first. At least 33% off the base price.

Might make an exception for Sunbreak, though. I don't think the price will go down too much with that, and I'm not waiting too long to play it.

At least assuming XC3 is as long as 2 or more .... Which certainly seems likely!

So I'm guessing that means Splatoon 3 will be a mid August to mid September release if it's still releasing in Summer.

@Ralizah Honestly I think the earlier XC3 release may be a result of the BotW 2 delay. Monolith Soft are working on both so perhaps the delay has allowed for a larger XC3 focus followed by major BotW 2 focus after XC3's launch.

@Grumblevolcano I'm pretty sure different teams have been working on both games, so I doubt one being delayed impacts the other. I think this might be more about optimizing release schedules.
