Oh right, the investor meeting which happens annually is on June 29th. Forgot about that but investors probably wouldn't be happy with the upcoming Nintendo published lineup at that point being just Live a Live, Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3 and Pokemon.
And they have a habit of doing this- taking announcements that would otherwise be given alongside other platforms and holding them hostage for their own presentations.
Which, is fine if it's announced in their presentation first, but when it's 3 weeks after the fact, it creates needless anxiety among the fanbase.

Monster Hunter Rise is on sale for half off on Steam and Switch as of now! Getting ppl ready for Sunbreak I see.
MH fans are feasting. Nom nom nom
@Grumblevolcano
Doesn't really matter what order they put stuff in. We knew going in it was all about previously announced games, and Sunbreak was going to be the spotlight presentation.

The Stardew Valley NSO game trial's coming to North America as well:
Update (6/13): Nintendo has now confirmed the same Stardew Valley Nintendo Switch Online Game Trial for North America. It’ll be running this week – specifically June 14 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET to June 20 at 11:59 PM PT / June 21 at 2:59 AM ET.
The game will be on sale for 20 percent off between June 14 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET and June 27 at 11:59 PM PT / June 28 at 2:59 AM ET.
Those that participate in the trial can earn 100 Platinum Points on My Nintendo.
The next gen patches for RE2 and RE3 is very nice timing as the bundle was just on sale on Xbox very recently for a little over $20. Gonna be nice to play those on my Series X.
Anyways, I thought the Xbox Showcase was decent, but not great. Loved that they focused on the next 12 months and on gameplay instead of a bunch of CGI, and that the majority of it is coming to Game Pass on day 1. Starfield and Redfall look great.
The Callisto Protocol in December is the game I'm most looking forward to though.
@Yoshi2 Traditional Nintendo home consoles were on a downward sales trajectory for generations, culminating with the frankly pathetic performance of the Nintendo Wii U.
The industry today is not like it was in the early 90s, and there's basically no scenario where Nintendo will ever return to that sort of uniquely dominant position again. With that said, the Switch is second only to the Nintendo DS at this point as Nintendo's mostly wildly popular game console to date. Some of that is absolutely Nintendo's great first-party support, but a lot of it is also the hybrid form factor. Hybrid play gives Ninty a USP (Unique Selling Point) that the competition isn't able to challenge or replicate.
The downside of this is that Nintendo will likely never be on par with the competition technologically, since they have to take the constraints of mobile gaming tech into consideration.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Third party titles only seem to sell on Nintendo platforms when there's a USP (whether that's portability, hybrid, touch-screen or motion controls). A lot of the people into AAA games with cutting-edge graphics are already buying them on PC, Xbox and PS.
That said, even in generations where Nintendo had a more "traditional" console, it was usually held back by some inherent hardware limitation (usually the storage medium: N64's expensive cartridges and Gamecube's lower-storage discs). So there's not really any empirical data to show exactly what would happen if Nintendo matched its competitors. But I suspect that if Nintendo tried to match Sony and Microsoft hardware-wise, they might still fall behind in terms of services (e.g. Gamepass) and social/online features (achievements, voicechat, etc.)
Honestly I think the best we can hope from Nintendo next generation is to keep the Switch concept, but to update and expand on it. Maybe go the Xbox route and phase out generations (with emphasis on single platform, backwards/forwards compatibility, and expanding the already large Switch install base).
