Oh my god, I can't wait for the second wave of drama when they announce P3 and P4 late this year, but completely skip out on the one Switch owners have been begging for since forever. And they'll put the cherry on top by announcing an expanded edition of SMT V for everything but Switch.
I don't think the latter will happen, but it would surprise me less than Persona 5 being on Switch.
@Ralizah
That totally wouldn't surprise me, which is disappointing Atlus has let it get to a point that wouldn't be out of character for them.
Assuming the worst though, at least we're for sure getting 2 mainline Persona games (and I've always said I'd rather have P4G anyways). There was a time everyone in this thread told me it would never happen.
But in truth I do suspect we'll get P5R also. Which, if we do, then SMTV can go multiplat fair and square. If we don't though, and then they port SMTV, I'll be even more annoyed than I already am waiting for these Switch versions to be confirmed already.

@GrailUK
I know, right?
I found some surprising games from play-asia when there is no Nintendo Direct at the moment.
And I thought that game was 1-2-Switch sequel until I saw Merge Games logo (3rd party games).
3rd party developer did what Nintendon't.
@Ralizah@JaxonH If you think about it, Microsoft confirmed that P4G and P3P aren't arriving until 2023 so if P5R isn't coming to Switch we likely won't hear about the other 2 games for Switch until September or February.
@Grumblevolcano
Possibly, but I can't imagine why they'd delay the announcement for Switch unless they're saving it for the soon-to-air Direct. If nothing is being announced in the Direct, I imagine they would have just confirmed Switch alongside other platforms. There's just no reason to put it off otherwise.

All 3 were announced for other platforms. Assuming just P3P and P4G are coming to Switch, and not P5R, it's still perfectly logical they'd be announced alongside other platforms, unless Nintendo wanted to announce it in their Direct. In which case it doesn't matter when they're releasing. That's irrelevant. What matters is they would have been announced alongside other platforms, but Nintendo wanted to bolster their Direct with the announcement since it's so close to the broader announcement.
I still think P5R will also be announced in the Direct, but even if it's not, we could definitely see just the other two announced.

@JaxonH If SMT V does get ported, we won't hear about it before November at the earliest. Actually, with Soul Hackers 2 AND these Persona ports releasing, I'm inclined to think they'd probably wait until 2023 to announce anything. The Persona situation should be sorted out by that point, one way or the other.

Personally I'm not really interested in SMTV on another platform, and tbh, Soul Hackers 2 just hasn't been doing it for me. Idk why, just nothing about it has really grabbed me. Maybe it's because it reminds me so much of TMS#FE, which don't get me wrong, wasn't a bad game from what I played, but it wasn't in that top tier of ultra-amazing breakout hits either.
All I really care about right now is getting Persona on Switch. Give me that and I'm good. We'll then have mainline Persona on Switch, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core on Switch, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak on Switch, multiple Trails games on Switch, Fire Emblem on Switch, and oh, that too.
I'm hyped out of my mind over this new Fire Emblem game that was leaked. Just seeing the protagonist from the front has stirred a fire inside me, now I can't stop thinking about playing it. I want that more than I want Persona. But it's probably a ways off. At least Three Hopes releases week.
I feel like Switch is finally breaking out with its library. It took selling 110 mil in 5 years to get the attention of 3rd parties enough for them to at least treat it with the same respect they gave Sony handhelds, but it seems it's finally there. PSP only did 80 mil lifetime yet got Persona, exclusive Monster Hunter, exclusive Final Fantasy, Trails, etc. Vita sold a miserable 16 mil and still got Persona.
Like, goodness. Why has it taken this long just to see Switch treated with equal investment across the board? Regardless, it's there now. And that feels incredibly good. I hope Batman Arkham Collection is announced in the Direct also. That would be yet another classic checked off the list.

@JaxonH I was going on that the Direct in June is usually very heavy on the rest of the year with the odd Nintendo published release further out here and there. I imagine that Fire Emblem will be the main 2023 release shown.
On a different note, Nintendo uploaded the Crisis Core video and didn't mention cloud version at all so it does seem to be native which is very good.
@WaveBoy why not do a mix? If I can easily get it in the store I usually buy physical. If not then digital it is. You don’t have to be one or the other. I finally stopped importing Japanese games because I can just order them from the eshop. Easy peasy.

I skipped the limited run physical games too if the price was too expensive.
I picked the games in physical with fair prices so I could picked more games to play.
@WaveBoy
Ya, that's definitely a downside to digital. Though I think the higher markup for many physical titles likely balances things out overall. After accounting for the physical tax you'll likely end up spending more, unless you have a fairly high percentage of games you regret buying after the fact.
Many past LRG titles are sold on BestBuy as you mentioned. Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 is still sold for $30 there, as well as Ritual of the Night. The first CotM isn't though. Still, you can get quite a few that way. And just go digital for the rest. Or, continue buying digital and just do a little more research to increase your confidence you'll enjoy a game- you'll never be 100% confident but if you can get to 95% confidence, that's only 1 in 20 games you lose money on. Physical tax on those 20 games would be far greater than that single lost purchase.
But physical is something best done from the start of the gen, imo. If you're nearly 6 years into the gen as digital, may as well finish it up and make the switch next gen. I am still buying both digital and physical, double dipping because I love the convenience of digital but don't want to stop collecting physical mid-generation after so much investment. Next gen I'm all digital.
FYI, I like to check in with LRG once per week just to see if there's any new Switch games open for preorder. Right now it's Tetris Effect Connected, with Doom Eternal around the corner.
