@ChameleonBros I wonder whether part of the appeal of Genesis/Mega Drive is that key third party supporters of the service like Konami have a decent number of games on that format that they’re willing to bundle in.

@ChameleonBros I'd guess it's about helping SEGA such that they don't get acquired by Microsoft. SEGA's arcade business got hit really hard by the pandemic.

@Ninfan
Why did you keep calling 150 cc as slow ?
That was the actual speed you saw on the race.

How fast do you want?
999 cc like F-ZERO until it really too fast to see?

@Ninfan It might just be playing on different speeds than it makes it feel more slow? I've had it happen to me a fair few times after playing 200cc exclusively trying to get grand prix cups where it feels like molasses in comparison until you adjust back? It could also be that the DLC courses feel a bit more frenetic (like the Tour tracks and Ninja Hideaway especially) but that's just my thoughts.

@Anti-Matter the karts look really slow in that youtube video you posted. I keep saying about how slow karts are in mk8 deluxe 150cc mode, as this is what nintendo told me to do.

Ninfan

@Ninfan
That was the speed of 150 cc when being played.
The maximum speed is 200 cc and if 200 cc is still too slow for you, there is NO way to make it even faster.
I ask again, how fast do you want?
Do you want 9999 cc like F-ZERO so the vehicles will running too fast until you cannot even steering clearly and bumping each other oftenly ?
Also, 150 cc was fairly fast enough to steer and you still able to drift properly.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is NOT F-ZERO so please stop spamming your statement about 150 cc is Too Slow.
Why don't you play at 200 cc instead if 150 cc is too slow for you and stop complaining nonsense?

This isn't exactly Switch related but, Mario Run is by far the best mobile game I've ever played.

I needed a way to milk more platinum coins for icons since I've drained down to 100 buying every icon that's been made available thus far. Completing the 4 weekly tasks helps, and opening the Wii U eShop weekly is another 30 coins, but I saw playing Toad Rally can get you 10 platinum coins per day. And if you win 3 each week you get another 50. I have 90 Toad Rally tickets so that can last a while, especially since you can win more playing, and through the bonus game and collecting pink/purple/black coins in Tour mode.

I got sucked in playing. It's super fun. And designed perfectly for a phone. Nintendo is so good at designing games around the hardware, playing to its strengths.

I don't generally enjoy mobile games, but Mario Run is a must play.

@JaxonH Too bad Mario Run was a failure. Mobile games with honest monetization models don't do well. People would rather play "free" games riddled with microtransactions, meters, etc.

@Ralizah
It got over 100 million downloads according to the Google Play Store (probably much more including iOS). Not sure how many of those purchased the full game, but it seems like it was pretty successful overall... just not in review feedback. It sits at a 3.9/5 when it should be at a 4.9/5

Casuals love their fremium models, ads, timers, virtual currencies and micro transactions. Why pay $10 once for a premium, quality product when you can get robbed blind being nickeled and dimed at $1.99 per tx and aggravated to no end with intrusive, manipulative mechanics and features?

Nintendo was so dead set against those kinds of tactics, bending over backwards to avoid it, but... the people have spoken.

@JaxonH The game's profits have been quickly dwarfed by almost everything Nintendo has released on the mobile market after it.

Last time I checked, it hasn't even cleared 80 million in revenue. Fire Emblem Heroes, meanwhile, is a hair away from raking in one billion dollars. The people have indeed spoken.

It's something children need to be taught, how bad microtransactions are. Because a lot of the time children either use their parents' credit cards without permission, or convince their parents they're somehow worth buying. And perhaps a wider lesson on gratification and how sometimes delayed gratification is better for the long-term. I myself almost sunk down that rabbit hole, but back in the day I never paid for anything, I simply wasn't allowed.

@TheJGG
Also, how to convince younger generations in this era to choose dedicated consoles or handhelds rather than playing handphone games so they can play better games and develop their gaming skill better with proper buttons pad, not by touch screen all the time.

Even on my local Arcade center, I still saw most of younger generations players couldn't play or take it seriously for old style games arcade because they have been spoilt by handphone games. Either they don't care by playing bad or didn't even understand how to play those games properly.

@Anti-Matter I wouldn't say smartphone gaming per se is bad, just that children are... somewhat distracted by mobile games. There's some seriously good games on mobile, but those aren't really popular with children. I agree though. To really enjoy video games I think consoles are the main place to get games. It's not just the quality of the games but it's also the size of smartphone screens.

I just came back from New Orleans and while I was there with my cousin, we stopped by her daughter's house to pick up her granddaughter Kylie, who's only 7. She came with us for a few days. When in the back seat she was on her phone playing some cheap game, who knows what. But I realized- kids nowadays are born with a phone in their hand. It's not like it was growing up in the 80s and 90s. Playing games on their phone is just a natural thing they do without even thinking about it. It helps that the less "into games" you are, the less discerning you are with regard to quality. Idk if it results in being more easily entertained, or just a willingness to tolerate lower quality entertainment.

I see it in myself from when I played games as a kid on NES, SNES and Genesis. I didn't have the fine wine approach I have now- I played anything I could get my hands on. I may not have enjoyed certain games as much, but I still played them.

Hi

I want to ask something.

If I remove the memory sd from my current switch and insert it in another one. All my save game files, profile user and digital games would work normally? Or the switch requires some kind of "verification" for that?

The reason why I asking is, I bouht my switch oled in december (my first switch) and I'm a "digital gamer", I really prefer all games to be digital. But I don't want to pay for the online services just to be able to transfer my stuff in case I buy a new switch.

So just chaging the memory sd would do the trick? Or for that I would really need to use the online service?

Hah, don't even care with Free-2-Play games.
FTP = Full of Micro Transactions behind it.
I see a big scam here.
I will never want to support this business practice.

Started playing Nobody Saves The World. It's actually pretty good. I could see co-op being a lot of fun, if you both enjoy that style of game. Drinkbox always makes good games. Guacamelee 1/2, Mutant Blob Attacks, Severed, Nobody Saves the World... they don't miss.

But, I'm gonna get back to 13 Sentinels today. Just wanted to see what it was about.

@TimE_Zer0

  • Saves are tied to the console itself, not the micro SD card. A system transfer of your Profile will carry your save data to the next system
  • Games stored on the micro SD cannot be read by another system. You will need to reformat the card in the new system, then redownload your games from the eShop under "Redownload" from the menu you see after clicking your user icon in the top right. No more than 64 concurrent downloads allowed at one time, so if you queue up more than that, you'll need to let some finish installing before queuing up more
  • Cloud saves are convenient for bouncing between multiple Switch systems and for archival purposes in case you lose/damage your Switch, but they're not really meant for permanent transfers. That's what the system Profile Transfer is for.
