@TheJGG Definitely the Golden Deer path (Verdant Wind), in general I'd rank them: Verdant Wind > Azure Moon > Silver Snow > Crimson Flower

@Grumblevolcano 100% agree with this ranking

Reminds me that I started my fifth playthrough about a year ago. Tempted to play a bit more of that to get me hyped up for Three Hopes.

We'll find out, I guess. I doubt they'd have a Direct and not show Splatoon 3 though.

@gcunit

I imported from Europe/Asia/Japan as the games released over time, and have amassed 3 or 4 dozen physical release imports..

If you haven't been importing and suddenly want to catch up, you're gonna be spending entire briefcases of cash.

Import games release all the time. In fact, I just ordered Life Is Strange True Colors [JP] from Play-Asia the other day, as it contains the entire game on a 32gb cartridge with English, as well as Klonoa Phantasy Series Reverie [Asia].

@Giancarlothomaz Looks fake, announcing an Astral Chain sequel before Bayonetta 3 launches seems very counterintuitive especially with how poorly Babylon's Fall did.

@Yoshi2
I played other machines too such as PS4, PS3, PS2, 3DS, Wii, Wii U, XBOX 360, etc as I like to play different games from different machines since they gave me different experiences from their signature games.

@Yoshi2 Not really though back then (April 2017) the Switch didn't have many games and I got BotW on Wii U instead of Switch as I wasn't able to get a Switch at launch. Usage did increase as more games got released though.

@Yoshi2
I know I experienced that when Switch released, and have felt that way ever since. Many others have said the same.

Once you acclimate to playing games on a system that offers true freedom, it makes playing games tethered to a single screen much less attractive.

But it's not just that. It's also the low barrier to entry. When I want to play Switch, I either grab my Switch Pro controller and press a button which automatically turns on the system, my TV and soundbar, and I'm in within 10-15 seconds, or I grab the system out of the dock and I'm in within 2 seconds. Whereas, when I play on PC it's a whole ritual- grab keyboard on floor, switch on, swipe track pad to wake PC, grab PS5 controller, grab TV remote and turn on and change input to PC, grab soundbar and switch to correct input, switch back to controller and turn on, navigate to Steam, launch game... and that's assuming I'm not getting notified for Nvidia updates, Steam client updates, Windows updates, other software updates, and then once in Steam, I've got a list of 20 games that need to be updated. It's like a 3-5 minute affair at best, and a 20-30 minute affair at worst.

Other consoles are faster, but because they don't have native gyro I use the XIM Nexus, which makes the affair more complex as I must open the Nexus app on my phone, sync up and load a profile for whatever game I'm playing. I appreciate the Nexus so much, but it does add to the barrier to entry vs Switch. There's no doubt about that.

But ya, this is why so many of us are adamant about games coming to Switch, oftentimes not even bothering to play games unless they do. It's not just the freedom to play anywhere- that's part of it. But it's the total combination of TV play, handheld play on a lightweight OLED screen handheld, portable console play in tabletop with detachable controllers, extremely low barrier to entry waking from sleep and jumping back in a game, and the sheer volume of high quality games- both exclusive and multiplat, that ensures you never run out of entertainment using the device.

@Yoshi2 I've come to accept that I want to play most games on the Switch, even when it's not the 'ideal' platform for a game. The only major exception is first-person shooters, because mouse and keyboard is so vastly superior on that front as a control scheme.

Anyway, Sony seems to be porting their games to PC as fast as possible, so I'm not sure how much they care about exclusivity any more. It's not like PS5 has access to Microsoft's console exclusives, either.

As long the games still have consoles version, I will keep getting either PlayStation or Nintendo version for 3rd party games.

BruceCM

Um, not really, @Ralizah .... I'm obviously glad they're bringing whichever ones but that's still awhile after they launched on PS Are they talking about bringing The Last of Us to Steam, for instance?

@BruceCM Of course it's a while after most of them launched. The PC porting initiative is an extremely recent move on their part.

It's almost inevitable that they'll port TLOU. Although probably the remake, if I had to guess.

At first it was: "Oh, they're just porting a few of their old PS4 era games to PC." Then it was: "OK, they're porting quite a few of their PS4 era games, but not PS5 games." Now leaks seem to suggest games like Sackboy and Returnal hitting PC. All this over the course of a... year or so. The speed at which they're embracing this is really quite remarkable.

They acquired a whole studio just to help speed up the PC port process. Going forward, PS5 will likely enjoy timed exclusivity of first-party games before they release on PC (although I could see their live service releases going to PC day and date).
