Topic: The Nintendo Switch Thread

Continued Great Ace Attorney Adventures today (about midway through chapter 3) and I have some thoughts:

Very excited to see where this goes because oh my god is it interesting.

@Fizza In something of an interesting reversal from the original trilogy, chapter 3 is really, really good in both of these games.

Those new profile icons, backgrounds and frames you can buy on the Switch with platinum points are a really cool new feature.

I bought out everything they put up. And, so far it's just Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing. Which, we already had plenty of those. But with them refreshing the list of games every month, and refreshing the characters every week for those games, this could result in some very unique portrait icons moving forward.

Which is exactly what we needed. More variety, more personalization. I hope we get Monster Hunter icons, Triangle Strategy icons, Kirby icons, Xenoblade icons, Fire Emblem Warriors icons, Bayonetta 3 icons, etc.

Give us the goods!

I wish you could mix and match. I want to use the Odyssey or ACNH borders with my Mii.

I lost a few units on chapter 2 and 1 unit on chapter 3 of Triangle Strategy. Is this a sign I need to turn down the difficulty or is losing units to be expected? Also am I missing something, it seems the recommended level is always higher than my actual level (e.g. my units were at level 1 at the beginning of the game but the battle said recommended level 2).

Not sure about recommended level. I wouldn't worry about it as long as you're not losing.

I lost a unit or two on the Chapter 3 battle. But it's like Fire Emblem on Casual Mode. Your units don't suffer permadeath, so as long as you win the battle it doesn't really matter how many units you lose.

There's two approaches with grid based strategy.

Permadeath: extremely difficult to balance and fine tune because a single death can result in a player restarting. Hence FE Three Houses having a time rewind mechanic to lessen the blow of a single mistake.

Non-Permadeath: difficulty should be much higher than if designed for Permadeath, because the player doesn't lose unless all their units die in a battle. So losing a few units should be common in battles to feel challenging. If you never lost a unit it would feel too easy.

They chose the latter. So I'd say that's normal.

I've been wondering something about these new icons: when I clicked on the Zucker one for Animal Crossing, it said it was for 34 days. Are these limited time?

@Fizza Yes, Animal Crossing characters are available for the month of their birthday and the Mario Odyssey ones rotate every week with the game changing to something else next month.

@Grumblevolcano No, I mean like if you buy the icon, do you keep it or will it go away after that period of time?

@X-Slayer Thank you! I was thinking of making an icon of Mario throwing Cappy in one of the backgrounds as well.

Missions are daily or weekly? Because i want to collect all icons.

Nintendo Switch is 5 years now, what we can expect for the console in the coming years and check out the analysis of the reveal trailer of Pokémon Scarlet e Pokémon Violet and 15 Nintendo franchise still not on Switch

I just had a chat with one of the guys at Nintendo, they said you can keep the icon elements forever once you redeem them for platinum coins.

@MarioLover92 As in like customer support? The way you phrased it made it sound like 'my uncle works at Nintendo'.

That's fantastic though if that's the case, I'll need to get all the Odyssey ones ASAP.
