I'm not experienced by this. It was only the third Nintendo Direct I've seen. Pretty solid presentation I guess, with some IPs many fans were yelling for.
We already knew about Mario + Rabbids 2 and the new Mario Golf, both games landed immediately on my wishlist after their announcement.
Metroid Dread might get me interested in the Metroid franchise, I only played a few minutes of the original game on the NES so far. Currently I'm on my second playthrough in a row of a Metroidvania, I think it would be a nice thing to sink into the series that originated that genre.
As for the BOTW sequel, I'll have to play the first before getting hyped. BOTW is standing on my shelf waiting to become the very first Zelda game I go through.
Obviously it looks like a Switch game, cause it's running on Switch, but it's a pretty noticeable step up from Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana. I'd put it on par with Trails of Cold Steel IV. It plays smoothly, not noticing any major framerate issues or anything.
Ya. I'm happy. It's just 10 minutes to check out the combat. Just finished the first level. It's dope. So glad it's not like Ys VIII. Not that it was unplayable or unenjoyable but this is more like it.

@JaxonH I know you're a ball of positivity, and I don't hold that against you one bit, I applaud it, but I am surprised you can be as positive about that e3 presentation as you are.
For me it was a real let down. And not because I had any particular expectations regarding certain IP or hardware, but just because so, so much of it was either old stuff rehashed or just stuff we already knew about.
Advance Wars - I have those games.
Fatal Frame - I have that game.
Super Monkey Ball - I have those games.
Dangonronpa - I have those games.
Mario & Rabbids - Knew about that.
Mario Golf - Knew about that.
Monster Hunter Stories 2 - Knew about that.
Skyward Sword - Knew about that.
BotW 2 - Knew about that and not coming this year.
SMT V - Knew about that.
I'm pleased about Cruisin' and Metroid 5, but I was hoping to see a few more new games.
@gcunit I really wouldn't say we actually knew that much about BotW 2 and SMT V other than "they're coming". Their previous trailers were super vague and not extremely indicative of what to expect in terms of stuff like gameplay or story. This was literally the first time at all we saw SMT V in gameplay form and this comes like 4 years after its announcement and radiosilence
I also have stuff like Danganronpa but you have to kind of realize that them coming to Switch at all is good news specifically for Switch owners since that's the primary audience, same with stuff like Life is Strange or DBZ. Fatal Frame especially given there's really not that many people in the world who played that the first time because Wii U.
Advance Wars was big less because of the remake aspect and more because of the fact it's actually back even if it's remaking the first two games. To know that IP is still on Nintendo's minds was great
@JaxonH Jeez, the box art for the CE is absolutely gorgeous.
I'm just loving Samus' new armor design. I wasn't sure what they would do with a post-fusion Samus' design, but keeping her blue 'metroid'ness and semi-organic looking while bringing back her classic Varia suit silhouette works REALLY well. Especially compared to that ugly yellow suit that you end fusion with. It worked fine for one short sequence, but not as her new main look.
Man, I'm still so hyped from this direct. My expectations were admittedly low, but I want to play nearly every single game they announced. Even all the rereleases are ones I missed in the past. Sure there was no big name title, but I really don't care.
The general buzz around the Direct is extremely positive. We got new announcements in big franchises, new footage for big previously announced exclusives, remakes of cult classics, highly requested ports, etc. It was an all around fantastic presentation.
Yeah, I was happy to see more of SMT V & it get a release date this year... Ditto BotW 2 for next year. I missed those advance Wars before, so I'll get the 3D remakes & I'm interested in Metroid Dread. Not sure about the Fatal Frame game but have heard good things about them before
@gcunit
I'm positive when I have something to be positive about, and right now I see alot to be excited for. This entire e3 has sucked up until this. And I've said as much. I'm just a gamer who saw a show and liked it. And I'm not the only one.
If you didn't like it, hey, you do you. I'm not harassing you for it or challenging you on the reasons why. Love it, hate it, it's cool with me. But I liked it.
These are all games to be excited for. We hadn't seen SMTV gameplay. Now we have and it blew away my expectations. So ya, I'm gonna be positive about that. Its also releasing this year. I'm gonna be positive about that too. MH Stories 2 gameplay looks insane. We hadn't seen a good look at it yet. Now we have. That's very exciting. I'm gonna be positive about that. Mario Rabbids is an exciting game. I don't care if it was announced yesterday or not. It's a new exclusive Switch game that looks great. I'm excited for it. Metroid Dread looks crazy good. I'm gonna be positive about it. Cruise n Blast, a game I've wanted all generation. Gonna be positive about it. Life Is Strange Collection which has been rumored, so glad to see it pan out. But not just the Collection, the new one as well. I can't suppress being positive about that. I've been talking about wanting those games on Switch for a grip. New WarioWare, gonna be positive. New Mario Party with full online (finally). What's not to be positive about? And there's so much more I'm excited for.
Clearly you have different standards. You seem to not be excited for anything that you have owned in some form in the past or simply knew existed. Like Metroid Prime 4 could be shown and say, "already knew about that". Well, sure. Doesn't make it any less exciting for me though. People been asking for the original Monkey Ball games as long as I can remember, myself included. I don't care if I own them on GameCube. I don't keep a GameCube hooked up. I want them on Switch. So having those games all on a hybrid handheld in HD is hella hype. I'm not even an Advance Wars fan, but if I was, I'd be crazy excited for that Remake. Simply having some old GBA games on Wii U vc wouldn't stop me from being hyped over a Remake on Switch anymore than Demons Souls existing on PS3 stopped me from buying the Remake on PS5. I'm excited for the people who are excited. It feels good seeing people get what they've been wanting so badly. It's definitely hard for me to relate on Zelda BotW 2. Simply knowing it exists isn't enough to stop that new footage from being exciting. I already knew it was 2022, been saying it for some time (check my pre-e3 posts) so that's not even newsworthy to me.
Idk man. Sorry if you feel differently. Genuinely. But ya can't please everyone, as they say.
@Grumblevolcano Speaking of DLC, you could add
June - Age of Calamity - Pulse of the Ancients
June 29 - Disgaea 6 (Exclusive... in the west at least)
November - Age of Calamity - Guardian of Rememberance
And this doesn't even include the non exclusives like NEO:TWEWY or Great Ace Attorney, or smaller 3rd party exclusives like TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. Definitely a packed year.
EDIT:
Okay, so I rewatched the direct, and he is very specific:
There will be NO LoZ Switch titles released during the 35th anniversary after Skyward Sword. That means no WW/TP, no OOT/MM AND no BotW2 until after Q1 2022. Also there will be NO other celebrations of any kind. Just want to see if I can put an end to that speculation now, but we'll see if anyone listens lol.
Watching SMTV gameplay on Treehouse, and I’m astonished at how good the game looks. Like, they took it to Persona 5 levels of quality. Compared to SMTIII it’s like… woah. You have a dash mechanic and everything. Main character looks crazy with that long blue hair.
Also watched some Advance Wars footage. The remake definitely makes the game feel more palatable to me personally. Graphics look nice during battles. Then watched some Mario Party footage and it looks good! Same for WarioWare. Which, I played WarioWare Gold on 3DS not too long ago and was impressed by how fun it was, given I didn’t really like the Wii U entry much.
But then they showed more Metroid. Ohhh. Check out this screenshot I took from the stream.
@link3710
It’s a fresh look, that’s for sure. I love it.
On top of all the exclusives mentioned previously, there’s a ton of good, solid 3rd party games coming. Doom Eternal Ancient Gods pt 1 just dropped today. We have Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1/2, Dragon Ball Kakarot, Great Ace Attorney and Neo: TWEWY like you said, Life Is Strange Collection, Life Is Strange True Colors, Danganronpa Collection, Monkey Ball Banana Mania, Ni No Kuni 2… there’s a lot of good games. Probably others I’m forgetting. Not all of them appeal to me (DragonBall is eh) but most of them do.

SMT and Metroid look so darn good. And the AW remake is cute af.
It occurs to me that MH Stories 2 is kind of getting ignored in the excitement, but that treehouse footage looked really good. They really took the presentation to the next level with that game.
Oh, and is SMT V open world? In previous games, world navigation was kind of abstract, with the player being represented by a little icon, and you only saw your character when you went into specific areas. But this just looks like a flat out open world game, with demons lumbering around everywhere. There was a demon flying overhead in the Direct trailer.
In the space of seven months, we're getting at least three exclusive open-world monster collecting JRPGs.
BTW, for anyone who hasn't played the games yet, don't sleep on Danganronpa. Absolutely top-tier series of games. Super excited they're finally coming to a Nintendo console.
@Slowdive lol I really thought the developers were going full Sony loyalist and were just ignoring the Switch when those mobile ports were announced. The fact that they're fleshing out the board game/JRPG from V3's post-game is even better. Legitimately one of the best fanservice modes I've ever encountered in a game.
I own all of them for Vita... digitally. I'll buy this one physically.
