That was a dang fine presentation. Don't know if others feel the same, and if not I feel for you, but for me, that was pure fire. I'm gonna break down my thoughts on what I liked and what I didn't.
HOT
Metroid Dread looks so good! Watching Treehouse now. Oh my gosh. This is my dream 2D Metroid game! If this doesn't sell millions I'm taking personal offense 😉
New WarioWare looks fantastic, new Mario Party looks dope and addresses all the complaints about online. Fatal Frame? Ya. Danganronpa? Finally. DB Kakarot? What took you so long. Life is Strange Collection AND the new one? There it is. THERE. IT. IS. Mario Rabbids? Slick. Monster Hunter Stories 2? Gameplay looks excellent. New Monkey Ball? Collection of the best 3 entries??? Man get outa my way, where's the pre-order button... Doom Eternal DLC, Tony Hawk 1/2... I'm there for it. You know I'm there for it.
Oh, and Shin Megami Tensei V. It looks better than I thought it would. For real. Cinematics always look nice but then gameplay is like eh. But no. SMTV is looking real good gameplay-wise. They went all out. Salute Atlus.
And Zelda BotW 2- They flipped it on us! We all thought it would be Caverns and tunnels underground but they took it to the clouds! Now Skyward Sword makes a lot more sense.
Almost forgot about Cruise 'n Blast. You know how long I've been waiting for this game to leave the arcade and come to Switch? This is almost as exciting as a new F-Zero, for me (I said almost)...
And I'm happy for you Advance Wars fans. You're getting a slick looking makeover of the first two games. That's hype! Really, you guys deserve it. I know how much ppl love that series. Heck I may even give it another spin myself once the Remake drops.
NOT
Guardians of the Galaxy is a Cloud version I see. I suspect a native version will drop with the new Switch though. Thank goodness it's actually single player with no MTX and not live service garbage like Avengers was, but if no native version comes I can't say I'm interested.
Tekken Smash fighter announcement was lame. It's not a series I enjoy and it's not even on Switch in the first place. It's fine, just not something that excited me personally.
Lastly, I think we all expected Zelda Twilight Princess + Windwaker. I'm not disappointed because I never judge based on expectations, but it did throw me for a loop. It's possible they didn't want to announce it before Skyward Sword drops. Don't want to put the cart before the horse and all. Maybe we'll see a fall announcement, or early 2022. Or, maybe it doesn't exist. Who knows. For now, I'm putting this one on the back burner until and unless we hear new info.
THOUGHTS
2021 is looking rock solid. The fact SMTV is actually dropping this year, MH Stories 2 is next month and both look very impressive gameplay-wise, is incredibly exciting. For 1st party we have Mario Golf, Zelda Skyward Sword, Metroid Dread, Mario Party, WarioWare, Cruise n Blast, Fatal Frame, Advance Wars and Pokémon BD/SP all dropping in the next 6 months. Like what? NINE 1st party titles in the next half year? TEN if you count Pokémon Legends in January? That's a lot of 1st party games. Throw in a new revision Switch and it's open season for hype.
@Ralizah Odd, Nintendo co-owns it so why are they letting other consoles have it? Maybe they sold the rights back to Koei Tecmo after realising it’s not for Nintendo?
Bayonetta 3 must be cancelled or be one of Switch sucessor launch games, i almost believed Bayonetta 3 would show up at E3, when Hikeki Kamiya retweeted the Nintendo E3 Direct Presentation.
It's very odd for Fatal Frame. Like W101, the game floundered hard on Wii U... HARD. If Nintendo allowing the game to release elsewhere is what it takes to see it released on Switch, I'm all for it. As long as it's on Switch, I'm happy.
But ya, offer it all around to get people into the series, so that if and when Nintendo finances the next one, it'll actually have an audience to sell to. Or sell it back to KT and let them finance future entries. Then they don't have to worry about its success.
Metroid Dread, Advance Wars 1+2, a deluxe version of Monkey Ball, a new colourful Zelda sequel where we explore new islands… and the big (unseen) winter game is 4th gen Pokémon… is this the E3 presentation from an alternate reality 2005 where the DS was sidelined in favour of a portable GameCube?
@JaxonH actually I think Fatal Frame on the Wii U sold more than the original PlayStation one did. Like Chibi Robo, Doshin The Giant or Metroid it’s just not that big of a series.
Thought it was a good showing. I did have some mixed feelings on botw 2. I absolutely loved what I saw, just was hoping for "first half of 2022" at the end there. The game already looks amazing. Love links new look. But man, a general 2022 release date sort of bummed me out lol. Glad I have some SSHD to tide me over. And the longer it cooks, the better it'll taste hopefully 😋.
As for reveals, thought we had some good solid game reveals. Day 1 buy for Metroid Dread and even though it's not switch related, the game and watch. I'll look to get into advance wars. Mario + Rabbids 2 is rock solid. So overall, I'm good. We have some stuff to carry us into 2022 and by the looks of it, 2022 is going to be stacked.
If I had any real disappointment of franchises that weren't there, I'd say I was hoping for DK, FE, RE, or anything XC related. Looking forward to mario golf now.

It must have tanked hard all around then, cause I remember it was like Devil's Third, Yakuza, Splinter Cell and Wonderful 101. Even worse because it was digital only in NA. I don't have sales numbers but I remember it didn't make a splash at all. I know it's niche, but being niche and being on Wii U was a lethal combination.

@JaxonH This isn't the article I read that in but it's the article I found on google. It doesn't include the outside of Japan numbers for the Maiden but if it sold 10k copies in it would have matched the first game on PS2 and it's abit socking just how small it's sales are.
Yo, go check out the Monster Hunter Stories 2 gameplay on Treehouse right now- it looks INSANE!!!
I can't believe this game is running on Switch. It's like Rise all over again, but the art style makes it even more impressive.
Seriously, go check the gameplay. This gives me so much Moga Village nostalgia I feel like I want to squeal like a school girl 😀

Ya, it's sales are shockingly low all around. If it could do 1m global across all platforms for this port that would be a massive leap for the series.
