@Magician I consider Bloomberg and Eurogamer more reliable, and they said we can expect it before E3.
It makes sense if you consider possible third party announcements.
If it isn't presented before E3 and no third party talks about it, then I'm very confused about what this supposed PRO model does.
Don’t underestimate how many adults play Pokémon. And don’t underestimate how many minors play SMT.
Yes, it’s true that kids likely make up a larger constituency of the player base for Pokémon and vise versa for SMT, but there’s still a ton of overlap. Pokémon is incredibly popular with college students and 30 year somethings who grew up on it. There’s always going to be some overlap.
But the boost from November will more than make up for it, of that I’m confident.
@teo_o
They said it could happen before e3, which, it totally could, but it could just as well come a month after e3 similar to the Switch Lite. Believe that’s how the Lite played out. Rumors in April, manufacturer shell casing leaked in spring. No word at e3. Then 3-4 weeks after, bam, there it was.
I suspect they may go for the same play here.
Either way, it’s not far off. Odds are we’ll almost certainly have it announced by the end of next month one way or another. Regardless, I’m pretty sure this new revision will do what we all think it will- provide a somewhat higher tier experience for those willing to shell out a bit more money.

@JaxonH Yes, but the lite was essentially the same hardware. I'm assuming the new switch will do something more than an upscale, with some parties having portings and titles to announce for it. Would be strange to miss E3s opportunity to make the same thing a month or two down the line.
But it's nintendo we're talking about here, so who knows.
After all, this new model could actually just do an upscale, so it wont divide the library like the new 3ds did.
Truth be told, with the way Nintendo has used social media recently, they don't need E3 to make this kind of announcement.
@TheFrenchiestFry A massive chunk of Pokemon's fanbase consists of adults who grew up with it. The same is more or less true for a lot of somewhat older properties ostensibly aimed at children, but Pokemon very much had a generational appeal to a lot of us 90s kids who remember when the Game Boy game, anime, and trading card game first came out, and we were swallowed in a vortex of pure hype. For a lot of us, it was also our first real exposure to JRPGs.
Anyway, I think releasing it next to Pokemon will be detrimental insofar as you'll get a lot less newbies and more casual players trying out the game. And I do think Persona 5 primarily succeeded the way it did because it blew up online and pulled in a lot of new eyes. If the game wasn't releasing around any other big games, you'd probably see more people adopting it out of curiosity. But Pokemon games, even basic looking remakes like these, are going to suck all of the air out of the room. There's a reason it's the biggest media franchise in the world.
@Ralizah Comparing Splatoon 1 and ARMS showcases this very well. Splatoon launched in May 2015 with very little happening afterwards until September 2015 (Outside of Smash DLC, Europe and Japan did get Woolly World in between but that released in October 2015 for NA) and Splatoon became a massive Nintendo franchise. ARMS however released during a very packed lineup which made the game suffer, Splatoon 2 releasing only a month later was the finishing blow.
I'd argue that ARMS is the best new IP that Nintendo have churned out in quite a while. Better than Splatoon, imo. But then...I am a fan of arena figthers, more so than competitive shooters. Don't forget ARMS sold twice as well as Pokken Tournament.
@Magician
I really wish for ARMS 2 with very important features: Create your ARMS fighter from head to toe, Design your ARMS fighting arena, Boxing Mode (No extended arms fighting just like Normal Boxing games) and Boxing Cardio Workout Mode.
@Magician Yeah Arms is great, it's one of my favourites but it doesn't beat Splatoon for me personally. New fighting games often struggle so for Arms to get so much right out of the gate is a great effort.
I think both Pokken versions combined may still have outsold Arms. On paper it should have sold loads more but it's their own fault for not putting Pokemon in the name lol
@Grumblevolcano intereting, @JaxonH i a fan of Pokémon since the first generation( i am 30 year old, i hope Pokémon Legend Arceus is amazing game, but i preparing myself if the game is a disapointment)
Hmm, can't say I've actually seen the film, although I have certainly heard of it .... Not sure how well they'll be able to make it into a game or how many liberties they'll likely take but I'll keep an eye on it!
@Slowdive I'm just worried about the CGI Hitchcock harassing the CGI women in the game ;p
Yeah, it's a good film like most of his films were, I just find it odd they went to the effort of making a 70 year old movie into a game. I've seen gamers who were clueless about the 80's movie characters like Rambo in Mortal Kombat so god knows they would think of this.
@Slowdive to be honest apart from the odd song I don’t really know Van Halen myself and I listen to “rawk” decades before my time. Cock rock isn’t really my thing and I can’t imagine it’s Billie’s either.
@Ralizah Rear Window is probably my favourite too although not me favourite James Stewart film, I don’t even think it’s even in my top 3. He had so many great flicks like Harvey, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, The Flight of the Phoenix etc.
Yeah, I do wonder how they plan to do it, @Slowdive.... Still, it'll be interesting to see more on it! If it does well, perhaps theyll go onto Rear Window, The Birds & Rebecca?
