@Slowdive I try to avoid Star Wars and comic books fandom myself. It's a shame as the forever on going nature of comics makes for great speculation but I've had enough of CBR (the biggest comics site) and others being so miserable all the time. It's literally just people moaning, every now and then I will read something that is so good I'm desperate to talk about it and go on there only to be reminded what a poop-hole it is, it's not even insightful complaining. The toxic nature of the site has resulted in the entire forum being banned before.
They made a valid point of fandom just doubling down on it's own ideas rather being open to new ones, with their example of Nathan Fillion was good in a genre show like Firefly so whenever a genre movie fantasy casting took place fans kept suggesting him rather than someone like Heath Ledger (who did smash it as Joker) but was moaned about as he was from outside of their limited scope.
I'm still curious about who was originally working on the first DK Switch game if it wasn't Retro. Team Ninja comes to mind as a possibility but I suppose that won't come out for years though.
It's interesting that Sonic Colours Ultimate has kept the "u" in "Colours". The original Wii release had it but didn't expect it to appear in the HD remaster. Nintendo for example used the US spelling in Europe for Paper Mario Color Splash.
@Grumblevolcano I'm just going to leave the over used "Sega Does What Nintendon't" meme here which the internet loves to use every time Sega apparently does something vaguely better than Nintendo, almost like they haven't moved on from the Mega Drive console war days.

Monster Hunter Rise breaking 7 million on Switch means 1 copy for every 12 Switch owners in the world. That's a pretty insane ratio given how niche it was just a few years ago, when I was literally learning Japanese Hiragana and Katakana and basic words for 6 months just to understand the Japanese version of MHXX because localizations were a crapshoot- you never knew if the game was coming west, and if so, how many years it would take.
That's also nearly 0.1% of the entire population of humanity on planet earth. Think about that! Of every human being on earth, a tenth of 1% of them bought Monster Hunter Rise on Nintendo Switch. That's mind boggling! Especially considering the percentage of the global population that is in poverty and doesn't have time or money for such leisure, which makes it all the more impressive.
Perhaps some day the entire world will be into MH, and they'll start giving us holidays whenever a game releases.

@jump From Sega themselves? Haven't played these, but I've heard people liking the new Shenmue, Streets of Rage, and people be excited for the new(?) Virtua Fighter, and that supposed Super Monkey Ball remake. Plus obviously Sonic stuff (even if Rangers doesn't fill me with hope).
@link3710 Nah, Sega didn't make or publish those games I mentioned plus Streets Of Rage 4. Sega just licenced them off and had no dealings with them afterwards.
Sonic with it's consistent inconsistency and Super Monkey Ball re-releases aren't exactly the most thrilling but at least Yuzuka and Valkyria Chronicles are still good.
@jump Unfortunately Valkyria Chronicles was pretty inconsistent outside the first and forth games, judging by reviews. Also it sold pretty badly which is a shame. I have the limited collectors edition of the forth game still boxed. Never got round to playing it.

@jump Jeez, Sega really has gotten lax with their IPs of late. I mean, it's caused a giant upswing in quality but still. Looks like most of their releases in the past 5 years have been Mario & Sonic, Puyo Puyo, or Yakuza. Lots and lots of Yakuza. Sakura Wars, Sonic, and Super Monkey Ball were the only exceptions.
@jump I’m sure it did sell well enough to warrant a profit but unfortunately a lot of publishers only consider games a success if they sell incredibly high numbers. Just look at Square Enix as a prime example of having too high expectations.

@FragRed Square Enix do spend silly money on their games which requires silly sales but VC4 was a smaller project more like Bravely Default or Lost Sphear which doesn’t need the same silly sales. In any case both me and you don’t know what Sega’s projected numbers were for VC4 and if they met to be considered a success but over 1+m doesn’t comes across as it did badly like say Balan did.
Also play the bloody game right now, it’s fantastic! ;p
That's really cool, Ori and the Will of Wisps has massively increased eshop charts position. Currently at #4 for UK eshop charts, even beating Animal Crossing.
Miitopia is still #1 so I'm pretty sure Miitopia will outsell all the JRPGs on the Switch. Guess the meme factor really helped it then.
I’m pretty sure the 7 million Monster Hunters games is shipped not sold, I imagine they will get to 7 million and more at some point though. I remember the rambling of people on here saying it’s not in top ten of Amazon UK chart and Game aren’t charging full price so it must be a flop.
However it still seems small compared to Minecraft and GTA sales to warrant its very own day. Who Is it that keeps buying Minecraft and GTA anyway?

I'm genuinely curious about that. Minecraft I understand more because its an unending part of gaming culture at this point, its popularity knows no bounds and is regularly finding its way to new places to be advertised. It's also for kids, and new kids then also want to play Minecraft. And ALSO, if Minecraft fans want to play it on a new system they'll buy it again. Also its never competing with itself with sequels or anything (there's been a couple of side games that would obviously never replace the main game).
On top of that, I know very well that Minecraft youtubers and streaming made a huge comeback a while ago, so that's probably kept its popularity up as well.
GTA I have no idea about though. GTA is obviously massive, and outside of not being marketed to kids (not that that matters too much) it fits enough similar ideas to why it would remain popular. But I'm mostly clueless on the actual community and marketing of GTA online, so from the outside its unending success feels almost random after a while.
Everyone talking about MH sales and stuff, but here I didn't even know they had there own day LOL, then I remember there is a day for everything, so were the hell is snatcher Day!
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@kkslider5552000 yeah, it’s bonkers that those two games in a single year (and years after there release too) will sell the same as the entire lifetime sales of a Zelda or Super Mario entry.
My best guess is with GTA5 is that it’s just become the go time go for I hear that’s good (like how people went to see Marvel, Star Wars, Titanic or Avatar films since so many other people saw it so people wanted to see what the fuss is) and it’s really just displaying how many more gamers you’d think there is.
@kkslider5552000 I'll be honest, I literally know no one who's played GTA V after the PS3 version. It's baffling to me what people want with it at this point.
