@Ralizah
As we approach ever closer to the limit with diminishing returns, I think Nintendo will step into that role.
Even if the revision never comes, their next gen Switch is just a few years away. And if they make the jump to 8th gen power (a conservative expectation by 2024-2025, at which point base X1/PS4 will be 12 years old), with DLSS that can take 1080p images on the tv and crank them out at 4k with better results than native in many cases, that day will have come. It may take some work to get a game to run on 8th gen hardware, but after seeing what’s been able to get running on Switch, I have no doubt every single game moving forward could be made to run on 8th gen powered hardware. Even if it were a massive 9th gen game built ground up that had to run at 720p on a PS4, that DLSS could pump it out at 1440p.
A day of reckoning is soon approaching. And at the rate they’re earning back 3rd party support (especially from JP devs), if they also had hardware that could run everything and look comparable... When Nintendo makes that jump, they’re gonna shut it down..

@kkslider5552000 Ditto. I'm an avid PlayStation gamer as well but don't regret sleeping on the State of Play that aired this morning. Only thing of pleasant surprise to me was Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade, which'll give us the best version of the game possible on PS5. Otherwise, apart from maybe Kena: Bridge of Spirits, which comes out in October, I didn't really care for anything there.
If you're not a shooter fan you might feel the same, because based off the general tone of it, the main games presented were Deathloop and Returnal, both of which are roguelike shooters coming for PS5 within four months. They also have the (insignificant) distinction of not attracting my attention so there's that. I just watched both trailers and both seem to use cutscenes more than gameplay to sell the game.
Nintendo doesn't do this as much, they share gameplay first in a proper trailer. Breath of the Wild's E3 2016 trailer stands out as a perfect example of "show, not tell" in this case. The Switch Presentation trailer... after four years it still gives me chills. It never fails to. It showed so much gameplay and people thought it was fake. Well here we are now.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Persona 4 Golden
Dragon Quest XI S
F1 23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
@Ralizah I honestly wonder if general Directs will happen anymore once Smash Ultimate DLC is over. Not sure if it's just me but it's felt like Nintendo has relied on Smash a lot as the big announcement(s).
I could easily see a reveal in the next Direct where the character's revealed and then announcement of more fighters incoming after Fighters Pass 2 is over. So like what happened with Terry in September 2019 Direct.
I think I can see Sony's template (I told you they had a template!) Didn't fit for what Japan wanted to make, and Sony seems interested in moderate success in Japan, huge success elsewhere, which Japan Studio didn't want to do.
So Sony has now fully adopted the stance of what the western studios make, is what we want, and if we want to compete in Japan we just pay studios to keep their stuff off of other systems.
It's very PS1 in a way

producer of the Monster Hunter franchise, confirm that Monster Hunter Rise is gonna release a PC port in the begining of 2022(buy Monster Hunter Rise now or wait for the PC port?).
Anywho, the PC port of MHR is old news. Whichever of the two platforms you prefer, Switch or PC, is where you'll be buying MHR. Obviously. Only fanboys would get bend out of shape over any game being available on more than one platform.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,260 games (as of June 15th, 2024)

lets watch the Pokémon Presents and see the suprises and disapointement we can expect, sorry @Magician i got a bit carried away by a thing i saw that is gonna make Pokémon fans specially Gen 4 extremely hyped.
That new Pokémon Legends game looks fantastic. It's like... truly open world. Even the battles don't go into a separate battle screen anymore. And it's gorgeous.
Seems like we're finally getting Pokemon: Catch of the Wild

Assuming BOTW2 comes out before the end of 2022, Nintendo's lineup for the next couple years is already looking great, and we don't even know what they have for the second half of 2021.
Yea, no matter how much complaining the internet manages to do about the Diamond/Pearl remakes, it's still gonna be a huge fall/holiday title for the Switch. And then the possibility of BotW2 around the same time or early 2022. Wow, that's pretty good.
2021 is a phenomenal year for Switch. Banger after banger after banger.
But 2022 isn't looking too shabby either. Already we have Pokemon Legends: Catch of the Wild, Splatoon 3, Zelda Breath of the Wild 2, probably Bayonetta 3 (provided it doesn't release in 2021, which it might, but I'm gonna go ahead and just assume it's 2022 for now), Monster Hunter Rise Ultimate (the G rank expansion release), a potential Switch Pro... ya. 2022 is looking real good.

@IceClimbers
I don't even listen anymore. I'm just over the Pokémon fanbase's opinion on anything.

Very excited for all this pokemon stuff. I started a new file in sword last night and intend to actually play through the entirety of it. I skipped every game until sword so I intend to go back and catch up over this year to be somewhat up to speed. Super excited for the legends game especially. And those remakes remind Me an awful lot of links awakening remake, which is a Good thing
