@Grumblevolcano There are workarounds, I guess. Technically Switch should be capable of running 2013 and Rise, as they both had 7th gen releases. They could potentially do a Dark Souls and drop Shadow and/or Rise. Or they could offer Rise as a cloud version.
But there's the issue of file size / cartridge space if they were to go physical...
So it's possible, but I don't see it as being worth the effort for SE. As much as I'd love to see more Tomb Raider on Nintendo systems, the two have never really been synonymous.
Yea, I love the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy (I've replayed the first one like four times lol), but I don't see them making the effort to get them onto the Switch. I agree with @Magician that Guardian of Light is way more feasible.
@timleon I was going to say that Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is digital only despite being a notable release so perhaps a Tomb Raider collection would be digital only but it turns out Ninja Gaiden Master Collection is digital only just in Europe (comparing the US and UK Directs reveals US version doesn't have the eshop logo but UK version does).
what Nintendo could preparing for the Metroid franchise in 2021, in her 35th anniversary?problaby nothing Nintendo is gonna focus on Pokémon 25th anniversary and Legend of Zelda 35th anniversary and just that.
I expect Nintendo to skip porting Samus Returns to the Switch. Skip announcing Metroid Prime Trilogy HD for Switch. And serve up a port of Other M...just out of spite, lol. Just kidding of course, but...truly, I expect literally nothing. Nintendo will let the anniversary lapse and will hold the Trilogy until MP4 is six to nine months away from release.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)
@jump i watched the entire video and given Nintendo track record with the Metroid franchise, i expect they do nothing with the franchise this year, only if Metroid Prime 4 is a critical and sales sucess maybe Nintendo do something with the franchise, the future of the franchise depend on Metroid Prime 4 sucess, if Metroid Prime 4 flop, sadly it would face F-Zero fate(no more games released until the end of everything).
@Giancarlothomaz That's like the chicken or the egg isn't it. Metroid Prime 4 is doing something with the franchise but people just want to skip the actual game so they talk about how they aren't doing something with Metroid already. lol
@Grumblevolcano
Pretty sure Ninja Gaiden is digital in NA as well. As certain Asian import sites have been advertising it as the only physical English version, and I quote, "since the game will be digital only in NA/EU"
Maybe they're mistaken, but I doubt it.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
@jump i know Nintendo answer to do something to Metroid fans is Metroid Prime 4, but Metroid fans think Nintendo is gonna do more things to the franchise beside Metroid Prime 4, like the rumored and higly antecipated 2D Metroid game that continues the Metroid Fusion history, i don't expect this is real, the only Metroid game we are getting is Prime 4,expecting a AAA treatment to the franchise is a delusion(it sucks to be a Metroid fan, Mario and Legend of Zelda have AAA treatment, why Metroid can't have a AAA treatment?).
@Giancarlothomaz What were you expecting, honestly? I personally thought it was a really good one, and I'm not into Life is Strange or Tomb Raider. LiS: True Colours looked like a really beautiful game in its own right, and it's great the Tomb Raider games are getting touched up and packed together.
@Giancarlothomaz Metroid had 2 games out in the last 5 years and a mega AAA coming for a series that isn't even that big. That's alot better than games that actually sell well.
@Haruki_NLI Not that's it's hard but don't forgot Balan Wonderworld was there too. ;p
@Giancarlothomaz Those were things exclusive to Nintendo, at least initially. Yes, Triangle Strategy is a Square game but it's a Switch exclusive for the foreseeable future. And a Super Mario RPG sequel... I'm not very sure about that.
Besides if those two were going to get more exposure it'd be done in a Nintendo Direct. I can't think of an instance recently where a game developed exclusively for Switch, or with a Nintendo IP, was not put into a Nintendo Direct.
Well, that basically confirms we're getting a port of the original Life is Strange. It got leaked alongside a description of the new game that matches up perfectly. Wonder if Switch will get both that and Before the Storm or what?
I was hoping for the Tomb Raider 25th anniversary stuff to be more than just non-game stuff, the Survivor Trilogy bundle and Fortnite. So like an announcement for a PS1 collection for PS4/XB1/Switch.
Life is Strange fans are the main people that this presentation wouldn't have been a disappointment for.
@Grumblevolcano Lol, saw you by chance in the PushSquare live chat where you said something along the lines of "wait, that's it?" after the Tomb Raider stuff.
