Not only no one asked for it but it’s a full price 60$ game, on 3ds it sold terribly.
My understanding was that it sold really well. Over 160,000 units in Japan alone. I also suspect that it’s coming because Nintendo has figures on it being a game that AC owners bought (something you can market to that audience).
I think it’s clearly low effort but high potential.
@StuTwo Yeah Miitopia sold well on the 3DS, it was part of Ninty's million selling list they put out. Not as big as Tomodachi Life though but I'm not entrirely sure what the difference between those two are to be honest as I didn't play them.
So Ninty has a big European sale today. I'm hoping it is including first party games and DLC for them rather than the usual Ubisoft 75% off stuff, in particular I want the Pokken Tournament DLC cheap.
@StuTwo@JaxonH
Yeah, it sold about 1mill on 3DS but it was a very late release. I think it's a reasonably smart release given the number of people who brought Animal Crossing on Switch. I mean Animal Crossing on Switch has sold almost 3x as many copies as it did on 3DS.
Also as strange as a Mii based game in 2021 may seem the Wii launched 15 years ago. The early to mid 20s are the peak "I have disposable income, few responsibilities and lots of free time" game buying ages. These people are nostalgic for the Wii like my age bracket is nostalgic for the SNES and N64. And there's nothing more Wii era Nintendo than a game about Miis

An opinion is only respectable if it can be defended. Respect people, not opinions
Not to sound pessimistic but do you really think they would hold back on Botw2 if it releases the same year? If they don't even have a new trailer for the game i doubt there will be anything new this year, otherwise they would have showed it, i am pretty sure.
The lack of a trailer in a February Direct is not much of a sign of anything to me. If Nintendo are planning any kind of 'presence' at whatever form E3 might take this year, for example, or just a June Direct, then it's there where I would expect a BotW2 update if its coming this year.
Miitopia is obviously targeting the New Horizons install base.
Looking at the release schedule for the first half of 2021, there's so much interesting stuff in there that there doesn't seem to be much reason for upset right now. There'll be more Nintendo announcements for games this year, I'm sure.
Can't remember if it was this thread or the Direct thread, but someone was griping a few pages back about the lack of games from Nintendo. Now, most of us have probably had similar feelings since the portable/console merging, but there's so many decent games on/coming to Switch from non-Nintendo sources that I think it's good business sense to slow down a bit. Looking back at the GameCube era, the 4 Mario sports titles (Golf, Tennis, Baseball, Strikers) all released within about 2.5 years. That sort of schedule can lead to Nintendo/Mario fatigue (particularly with the Olympics games every 4 years too), and it's far better, I think, to spread their output further apart if third party games are there to fill in.
That's not to say though that I wasn't disappointed last night by the lack of another Nintendo IP getting an announcement, and I'm a bit miffed/interested in why Splatoon 3 was chosen as the 'one more thing' when it's release is so far off and what was shown had nothing to suggest it was going to be much different to Splatoon 2. There was a bit of a gap in that Direct last night in terms of action adventure, besides Skyward Sword HD. A Donkey Kong or Kirby 3D adventure, for example, would have had me dancing.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
So that Nintendo Direct largely went down like a sack of rocks in a lake, but if it all appealed to any one person, they'd be living in a simulation.
Personally there is at least one game per month this year I'm interested in getting on Switch, with the exception of May, which is probably for the best.
March:
Plants Vs Zombies - While I know it's a very dead game that EA killed future support for, I am at least curious to try it out being a very recent and big GW2 fan. This is a good excuse.
Monster Hunter Rise - Never played a game in the series. May as well start now.
Crash 4 - I liked it, I can now play it at work too.
April
New Pokemon Snap - Never played the original, given I was a PlayStation kid growing up, and I only popped up in 96.
June
So in addition the only still standing PS franchise I care about, Ratchet and Clank for a whopping £80, I'll be nabbing Ninja Gaiden Master Collection because why not, it looks like my kind of fun. Maybe Mario Golf Super Rush if my friends get into it.
July
Skyward Sword HD - So I have never owned Skyward Sword. I've barely seen anything of it, and what I have seen was this trailer, and Hyrule Warriors. I ain't going to go dig out a Wii copy and my Wii U for this when I can play it on my breaks at work. 48 work weeks baby.
Honourable mention to Fall Guys, since I have it on PC with one friend, another two friends have it on PS4, and all my Switch only friends want to play with us. We all own Switch systems, so here we go.
I'm very surprised to see Nintendo has a big game per month up to August now. That's kinda wild.
Now Playing: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Crash Bandicoot 4
But I can't tell if it hates I'll spend as much money on two Switch games in March combined as one PS5 game in June yet or not..let you know when I get that far.
Had to resign myself to monthly purchases again

I think the release of Skyward Sword HD in July and the messages we're getting from journalists "in the know" about WW HD and TP HD coming later this year are red flags on their own though.
I think BotW2 is looking pretty much set for 2022.
Not that that's a bad thing though. With Splatoon 3, BotW2 and Metroid Prime 4 we know that there are at least 3 big anchoring games set for 2022 or beyond. The Switch has genuinely got legs - I can't think of any other Nintendo console except for maybe the Famicom or the GameBoy that saw that number of major first party releases in its 6th year or later.
guys do think the remaster/remake of Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is the only Legend of Zelda game we are getting this year?(not counting possible Collections).no Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 in 2021?
@electrolite77 oh my Arceus february and march 2021 is septembre 2019 2.0(my wallet is crying and want to murder me),@Stutwo put also Bayonetta 3 on the 2022 and beyond release schedule.
@Giancarlothomaz
Definitely not. I thought it was pretty telling that they didn't actually utter the words "anniversary" when they showed SS HD. I think a port collection is definitely still coming, but they're not gonna say anything else until the Mario anniversary stuff is over in March. Just my guess, of course.

I'm not ready to do that yet. Even though we've yet to see it I do still think it'll come this year.
Platinum know how to make these games and - unlike Metroid Prime 4 or BoTW 2 - it's not a huge monolith of a game. It's level based and if they really have their sights set on a particular month for launch and it's clear that they're running short on time... well, if the game is in an advanced enough state, it's not too hard to cut a level or two (though this will clearly not be the desire of Platinum or the fans!).
I feel that 2022 for Switch is going to end up being 2017 part 2. New hardware in March with BotW 2 and an extremely strong lineup overall including multiple 2017 Switch game sequels. Likely too early for Prime 4 but I could see the other 3 "announced way too early" games being 2022 (BotW 2, SMTV, Bayonetta 3).
The absence of Nocturne in the February Direct makes me think localized Nocturne in 2nd half of 2021 and SMTV in 2022.
DC Super Hero Girls is apparently a first party Nintendo game. That's very strange, maybe Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 did well for them so Nintendo are gonna use other western franchises from now on.
