@Grumblevolcano
I'm with you. I like BotW but I don't adore it like most. We'll just have to wait and see how Legends pans out. If the gameplay is smooth and it's fun to control the character, that's half the battle.
@Grumblevolcano understood completely. And I think that's the beauty. People will have their traditional experiences as well as this new ambitious experience. Something for everyone is the key.
It does seem like the foot soldiers ever campaigning to de-hype as many Switch games as possible become the cat in the corner when most people are actually excited for a game.
No! It's garbage! The only reason they keep making this lazy crap is because Nintendo shills lap up whatever turd they crap out! It's your fault! You're an idiot for buying games that I don't personally give my approval of!

...and straight after their raid they go ahead and buy the games for themselves
@TheFrenchiestFry Watching the trailer, the FF7 portion looks like Final Fantasy VII Remake: Pocket Edition, which makes it even weirder that it's not a Switch game, yeah.
That's the only way I'll ever end up playing it, I guess, because I'm certainly not playing it on a phone.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
i hope and expect the subseries of Pokémon Legends become a critical and sales sucess(problaby it gonna be), so this subseries explore the Kalos war and the original dragon of Unova, i would be amazing, if this happen,@Ralizah Pokémon Legend Arceus is what i always wanted for a open world Pokémon game, and not Pokémon finally have a game that is worth of it importance, Pokémon Catch of the Wild my body is ready for you.
I’ll say this- as good as Pokémon looked, the framerate was rough, and animations were running at 15 FPS for distant Pokémon similar to the technique used by Monster Hunter World (but MHW did it for creatures much farther away).
It sure feels like a Switch Pro, if it were to exist and is releasing end of 2021 or early 2022, would explain the state of Pokémon Legends. I could definitely see it being a Hyrule Warriors Legends situation, where it was developed with the new revision in mind, and still runs on the current hardware, but not well. Otherwise, they’ve got their work cut out for them. Which to be fair, a lot can change in another year’s time. The first Monster Hunter Rise trailer had Framerate issues, yet the demo turned out to be basically flawless. That said, it really does seem like it could be developed with stronger hardware in mind.
It also seems strange that 2022 now likely has a brand new Zelda BotW 2, a brand new open world Pokémon Legends, a brand new Splatoon 3, Project Triangle Strategy, Monster Hunter Rise Ultimate, quite possibly Bayonetta 3, and maybe even a new Mario Kart 9... that feels like a launch lineup to me. It feels like they’re setting up for a repeat of 2017 with all their big guns. What better way to push a new revision. A new model with a lineup like that could easily propel Switch into another 4 years of domination. Which would line up with extending the life cycle.
I’m just thinking out loud here, pondering the meaning of this 2022 lineup 🤔

I might be in the minority but I actually want that FFVII Ever Crisis game on Switch more than the actual FFVII Remake
That game actually looks really interesting
It will almost definitely come to Switch. A game like that is clearly being made because Japan doesn't play on consoles any more. I'm just curious to see how the story is done, and whether it mirrors the new story from Remake or just repeats the old story from the original games.
The complaints about the chibi artstyle in the DP remakes is literally the Link's Awakening reveal all over again.
Like down to the exact same "looks like a cheap mobile game" comments.
That's a bad comparison. People were unsure whether they liked the style of Link's Awakening. Not criticizing the graphical quality and amount of work that had gone into it.
You're mixing up the conceptual with the technical. They're different things entirely.
I was unsure whether I liked the style of Link's Awakening, but the graphical quality was always quite impressive and high-end for a Switch game. Whereas with those new Pokemon games, I'm also unsure about the style. But then they also look like very low budget PS2 games.
They’re the same basic style. One just has a plastic toy like appearance and depth of field. Personally, I like the plastic toy like appearance more, but I was in the minority when voicing that opinion. Almost everyone said they hated how it looked like plastic and wished it didn’t. Pokémon doesn’t look like plastic. I think the Pokémon style looks fine too given what the original game looked like. It seems to be a very faithful reproduction with a modern take. It’s not “graphically impressive” but it does fit the game well given the source material. And it gives the game a more classic feel, just with a modern look.
I like that. We’ll have 4 different Pokémon games in 4 different, distinct styles. You want the classic Pokémon experience? Diamond and Pearl. You want the cartoony fun, poke-ball controller with motion experience? Let’s Go. You want a more modernized take on the classic experience with a mix of open world? Sword and Shield. You want full Catch of the Wild experience? Legends it is.

My problem with the look of the remakes begins and ends with "Pokemon games now cost 60 dollars instead of 40". I mean, its not like the best looking game even for what it is but...literally if it was just a little bit cheaper, I'd have no major issue. Just release games at different prices, you cowards.
And this was my opinion of Link's Awakening too. But I do think Pokemon having so much more content (and real content, not that dungeon maker thing LA added) does even things out with LA having a more striking, impressive art style.
@JaxonH LA's art style appealed to me from the beginning too (as does DP Switch's). The only that kinda bothered me was the 8 direction movement, which made the world feel a bit limited somehow. Of course after some getting used to, it didn't really bother me too much.
@JaxonH Combined with the Rabbids twitter "error" maybe hinting at a Mario + Rabbids 2 and Monolith Soft having worked on a medieval ARPG since 2018 there's a fairly good chance that 2022's Switch lineup is the much anticipated 2017 Switch lineup sequel that people have been waiting for.
2021 being all about 3rd party support and 1st party ports/remasters/remakes and then 2022 goes in very strong with new 1st party games.
@toiletduck
Ya the directional movement was an adjustment. But what threw me off was the sudden frame drops from 60 to 30. I'm pretty tolerant of framerate (though, admittedly less so than I used to be) but it stuttered hard when it would dip from 60 to 30 and back to 60. They imitated the Gameboy release a little too well lol.

I think we're seeing such a robust 2022 lineup because of a lot of stuff that got pushed back. Not a doubt in my mind the Pokemon remake would've been released Spring or Summer.
@Grumblevolcano
Yea, and that rumor that Splatoon 3 was really meant for a Summer/Fall 2021 title. It just all fits a picture where everything had to be pushed back by about 6 months.
I don't doubt everything was pushed back. But under that same line of reasoning, a potential revision was likely pushed back with them.
At least according to the insiders, the revision was planned for late 2021 (and according to them may still release this year). But judging by the lineup, I'd wager they're waiting for 2022 for round 2.
