@Spanjard
Ya... 1st world problems 😁

Eventually there will be a downturn toward the end of the generation a few years from now (although around that time a new Monster Hunter for PC will likely be releasing, but that aside), and that will be the perfect time to catch up on a lot of these games that aren’t or weren’t able to be squeezed in. I thrive on having a huge selection of games to choose from at any time. And the day will come where I say, “ya, I’m in the mood to play that final Witcher expansion”.

Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced

JoyBoy

@JaxonH Yeah, exactly. Although I don't have that insane awe-inspiring game collection of yours, I do like to now and then return to a game that I haven't finished yet. Now was the perfect time to play some World and Gen U, the Rise demo really put me back into that MH mindset and I'm loving every minute of it.

My Switch has started having issues.

This is a launch Switch, been fine until earlier this week. While playing Link's Awakening from a game card, and the fan got ludicrously loud. A quick power off, compressed air through the dock and it was fine.

Then today, it happened twice again, that rising scale of loudness getting higher and higher pitched to PS4 fan levels of loud while playing Splatoon 2 from a game card. This time a full power off didn't help.

The Switch itself was also rather hot for a change when I undocked it. Makes me think the fan is struggling or the thermal paste has finally died off.

Aww man, I have just managed to get the leaked Goldeneye game to work on my machine (took a fair amount of tweaking as the emulator doesn't like AMD graphics cards). But playing this game brings back so much nostalgia, now with new controls, and it just makes me wish it were able to be officially released ideally on Xbox AND Switch seeing how Microsoft are buddies with Nintendo nowadays.

@jump I've enhanced that picture as much as a Hollywood spy movie allows, zoomed in to the nano-pixel level... and I still can't see his personality.

My mind has been jogged a bit though by the chat above - I think my main beef with Geralt is the frequently underwhelming and flat delivery of his lines by the voice actor.

But I'm by no means calling it a bad game, and I haven't given up on it, just got drawn away by other games. I'll finish it eventually.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

@Dezzy But if BotW2 was intended for March 2021 (as you suggested), a year before suggests it was meant to be a Spring game.

And honestly, I think you're underestimating AoC. Sure they reused a lot of models, but most of the maps were reworked or entirely new, the models themselves had a ton of new animations, there was a significant amount of work done to rework and rebalance the mechanics (it feels significantly better to play than HW, and the emphasis on verticality over all the movesets was a significant tie in to the mechanics of BotW.) Plus a significantly higher amount of cutscenes and voice acting than usual, and a plot that wasn't spit out in a day (sorry HW). Not to say there wasn't as much reused as possible, but I suspect this game still had a development cycle nearly on par with most other Warriors titles.

So, I was looking back over old news articles, and apparently there's buzz about Atlus announcements in 2021 for Persona's 25th anniversary.

I'm going to make a few insanely ambitious predictions:

Persona 3 HD Remaster for PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Persona 6 for PS4 and PS5.
Devil Survivor 3 for Nintendo Switch and PC.

And, as usual, bupkis for Xbox Series S/X.

@Ralizah A Persona 3 HD remaster would be the push I need to actually play the game. I hope they use it as an opportunity to combine the best features from both FES and P3P...as is stands there seems to be no "definitive" way to play the game. Not being able to control your party members puts me off FES, and having a .png for an overworld puts me off P3P.

If Persona 6 is a PS4 game, it will perhaps be the last PS4 game ever made. Given Atlus' track record, if they announce Persona 6 today the PS6 will already be out by the time it releases.

[Edited by Buizel]

At least 2'8".

FragRed

@Ralizah With Atlus committed to SMT 3 remaster and SMT V this year, I would be kinda surprised if they would announce 3 more projects. I mean, they take so bloody long to get anything out the door I cant see them announcing anything just yet. Maybe the anniversary announcements will just be ports to PC of all the Persona games and that's it. Though you did they are insanely ambitious predictions, so my comment was really pointless.

Ya.

My Switch has been having issues too. Notably, the lack of gold embossed Magnamalo on the dock and tribal accent joycon.

Think I’m gonna have to replace it come March

Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)

Haruki_NLI

@JaxonH Good excuse to do it.

Mines an actual new issue though. I can hear the fan when this happens over my TV right next to the console 🤣. That ain't right.

Upon undocking the Switch seems a lot warmer than it should be, or ever has been. Especially on the side where the heatsink is.

Personally I think it's an issue with the thermal paste connection the chip to it's shield, then to the heatsink and then then fan.

Wouldn't surprise me after thousands of hours of use, travel in a bag up and down the UK, being left in a work locker 🤣🤣🤣

And on a serious note I am worried about my Switch potentially hitting the "I'm turning off it's too hot" stage. The fan itself seems to run fine otherwise, no unusual sounds except for when this flares up.

I can't stress though, this is loud, like something isn't working right loud.

But it is weird this hasn't happened with any downloaded games yet.

Also of note, my Switch does now have a gap between the back casing and the front casing along the top that I can press on to close or make wider. Also seems like the back with logo is very movable if I press down on it, I can see it bend back into place.

Maybe after 4 years of good old fashioned use it's finally showing its age 🥺

@Haruki_NLI

Isn't shooting compressed air INTO the console just going to move the dust around inside it. I assume ideally you need to open it up and clear the dust outwards instead?
My PC gets like that about once a year. Just starts making loads of noise. I just open it up and spray compressed air around the heatsink and that usually fixes it for about a year.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

@Ralizah My predictions for Persona 25th anniversary:

  • Persona 5 Royal for PC
  • Persona 4 Golden for PS4
  • Persona 3 FES HD for PS4 and PC
  • Persona 6 announced for PS5 and PC

And if it turns out that Microsoft bought SEGA then swap PS4 for XB1 and PS5 for Series X|S.

Grumblevolcano

jump

@Grumblevolcano Company buy out rules say the new parent company can't dictate what their new subsidary will do until they buy them so if Microsoft were to buy Sega/Atlus then they would have to habe been planning Xbox releases now due to how long development/porting takes rather than flip flopping on release platforms.

@Dezzy I pumped compressed air through the dock, not the console itself. Took the console out first obviously.

You’re probably onto something, but I’m not sure there’s anything that can be done about it.

Might just be time to get a new one. Strip the joycon off, keep the dock, the charger, the grip, etc, and you’ll at least have extra components for your new model.

@JaxonH I'm looking to pick up one of the improved and cooler models next month when I get paid.

Problem is being in the UK....it's like gold dust. Hell any gaming system is it seems.

@Grumblevolcano Adding onto 25th Anniversary predictions:

  • I highly doubt P3 and P4G will be coming to PS4. If they were that forward thinking the Golden remaster would've been multiplatform, but Steam definitely considering P4G's success. P3 on Steam will probably just be a straight conversion of FES if it's done in house at Atlus though compared to just outsourcing it for a remaster like what's happening with Nocturne, and it'll probably come out around the same timeframe as Persona 4 Golden did last year
  • Persona 5 Royal for PC will be announced this year but won't release until sometime in 2022. I can see them unveiling it at some Persona concert event where they'll also likely announce a bunch of other Persona games like spinoffs, but that ain't happening until after Shin Megami Tensei V launches on Switch.
  • Persona 6 on PS4/PS5/PC. With how much Sony has been championing Persona as their JRPG golden goose exclusive lately in addition to aggressively pursuing timed exclusivity on high profile stuff for the PS5 like Deathloop, GhostWire Tokyo and two Square Enix games, I can absolutely see them moneyhatting Persona 6 as well, in addition to partially funding it so it can be released worldwide simultaneously like what's happening with SMTV, since I doubt they're making that happen without some of that Nintendo money. As a result though it'll also be a permanent PlayStation exclusive on consoles much like the entire mainline series.

It'll also come to PS4 alongside PS5 given Atlus has a history behind supporting older generations of hardware in light of new consoles, as evidenced by Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 on the PS2 and Persona 5 on the PS3.

  • Persona 5 Arena. The P5U.jp domain has been out in the wild for a while and while the Red Team at Arc System Works have been busy with Guilty Gear Strive and post-launch DBFZ support, the Blue team have only been working on stuff like BlazBlue Cross Tag and Granblue Versus with nothing else in development, so I can see them announcing Persona 5 Arena as the last big console Persona 5 spinoff before P6 is released. Probably coming to PS4, PS5, Switch and Steam.

@TheFrenchiestFry I think the PC only release of P4G was testing the PC market along with whether PS owners will double dip if released later on PS4. 3rd parties already have Switch owners figured out in that regard.

As for not announcing stuff until after SMTV, I could see Atlus just leave all the promotion of SMTV to Nintendo while Atlus focuses on Persona promotion.
