Spoilers, It's been comfirmed as a digital event already.

That's quick, Crash 4 already announced for Switch with March 12th release date. Perhaps the next Smash character is Crash rather than Monster Hunter then.

They will announce a character that doesn't necessarily have to tie in to a game at all

Not everything in Smash is just a promotional stint for an upcoming game

IGN jornalist Adam Bankhusrt sugest we gonna have a 35th anniversary Legend of Zelda Direct on february 18th, Kelios also reteweeted this person tweet, lets see if in february 18th this Zelda 35th anniversary Direct is real, if not the rumor is debuked.

@jump Wasn't it also confirmed the big 3 (Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft) aren't attending E3 again this year? Or was that just a rumor?

@TheFrenchiestFry While some are clearly side effects rather than the main reason (e.g. Terry, Steve), all the fighters pass characters except Banjo and Min Min has had a very recent or coming soon game at the time of character announcement:

• Joker - Persona 5 Royal, Persona 5 Strikers
• Hero - Dragon Quest XI S
• Terry - King of Fighters XV
• Byleth - Fire Emblem Three Houses
• Steve - Minecraft Dungeons
• Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII Remake

@Grumblevolcano Terry did not at all tie into KoF XV. He was decided on as a fighter when KoF was probably still in pre-production and they hadn't even decided on platforms yet. When he came to Smash the most recent KoF game was the PS4/PC exclusive KoF XIV which actually had content repped in Smash

Joker was likely chosen because Atlus is one of Nintendo's most prolific and long lasting third party partners, and Persona was their marquee IP that could draw in consumers the way an SMT rep like Flynn or Demi-fiend couldn't

Steve was being negotiated on as early as the Smash Wii U DLC days so he was clearly someone they wanted to revisit due to Microsoft's transparency in collaboration towards Nintendo

Sephiroth was chosen more because Final Fantasy VII is a cultural juggernaut and he was the other big name star from that game, as well as adding onto Smash's focus on villain characters with Ultimate's roster. They definitely didn't add him to tie it in to a game that was locked behind an exclusivity agreement with another console maker, especially since FFVII itself is already on a Nintendo system anyway

The only ones in the roster that are actually flat out promoting new games or recently released games are Hero and Byleth. Hero because they flat out used the DQXI S promo material to tie it in to his Smash reveal and Byleth because Three Houses is the most popular FE game and had DLC drop for it right after Byleth came to Smash

As an aside, I imagine SamSho 2019 sold well enough on Switch for SNK to consider porting KoF XV when it releases later this year.

I still think Monster Hunter is coming to Smash.

I agree it doesn't always have to tie in. But Monster Hunter fits for multiple reasons. The franchise's pedigree and cultural impact notwithstanding, MH Rise is an exception to the rule and a game Nintendo will want to promote to sell Switches and define the Switch experience. For MH, assuming Sakurai didn't already want to include it on his own, I'm pretty sure Nintendo will have asked him, "can we add MH as one of the characters?"

And if it doesn't happen, Nintendo's just downright foolish.

@Magician XV is definitely coming to everything. XIV was only a PS4 console exclusive because SNK was just in a rough place and needed the funding for development much like what happened with Capcom and Street Fighter V

SamSho 2019 is a fully multiplatform game and Switch even has its own exclusive fighting game that uses the KoF XIV engine with SNK Heroines. It'll likely be cross gen but will also be on Switch and PC

A hunter decked out in iconic Rathalos gear or Magnamalo gear. They're not gonna use the Palico. Yes they're representative of MH, but that would be like using Toad instead of Mario. The hunter is the character that represents the series, and the wirefall recovery is too perfect for an Up+B recovery.

@JaxonH I'd assume it would be a team character anyways, with the Palico (or Palico / Palimute), following you around and assisting. The Palico would probably be front and center in whatever crazy mechanics they'd give the character.

I'd be totally OK with a palico, just for the record. I just know it's incredibly unlikely.

Just got the Samurai Showdown Collection Collector Edition from Limited Run, the Neo Geo case version...

I popped in the game and tried it out, and I’m really impressed with this collection. Included artwork for every game in the entire series including SNK Heroines, they have like a dozen high quality videos of developer interviews, walking tours of where they used to develop back in the day, etc. And while I was never a Neo Geo owner or a particular fan of Neo Geo in general, I really appreciate the legacy of SNK, and I love how this collection really caters to the retro arcade fans. So few games go to such a length to include so many extras. It’s nice.

Hey people, I've just beaten all 4 divine beasts in BotW (Yeah I know I got the game late but I'm absolutely loving it) and I'm not what to do now. What should I do to prepare for the final fight? Is there any specific weapons or armor I should have? (I already have the master sword) Stuff like that. Thanks!
