Oh they'll definitely do something for Zelda's 35th, but I honestly don't expect them to talk about that at all until April at the earliest. In other words, not until after they're done with Mario's anniversary celebrations.

Watch them just port over the Wii U remasters of Wind Waker/Twilight Princess for full price and with no additional upgrades or improvements.

@Ralizah Watch them port over the GameCube versions of the games instead of the Wii U remasters

@teo_o, 2018 had Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition, so there has indeed been at least one Zelda game every year on Switch.

@CactusMan A remaster of Minish Cap would be pretty legitimately cool. Even cooler would be remasters of the Oracle games.

@IceClimbers I don't mind the lazy ports in the Mario 3D All-Stars collection that much, but I can't go back to Wind Waker without the Swift Sail, man.

I've been supporting my kid through a Wind Waker HD run. She played it loads without the swift sail and it really didn't feel like a loss not to have it. And when she did finally get it, it kinda felt like a cheat mode had been enabled in the way it disregards wind direction. It's nice to have the option there, but I could cope just fine without it.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

I miss when Nintendo's lineup was so strong that you didn't really need a non-Nintendo system. Last 3 years I felt that was the case were 2008, 2013 and 2014.

@Grumblevolcano For me, the Switch has been the first time ever that I've felt like I can actually get all my gaming from just one system. I play several hours per day yet haven't felt the need to touch another system at all since it launched.

@Grumblevolcano Honestly surprised that you quote years from the Wii U / 3DS era. IMO Nintendo hasn't had third party support this good since at least the Gamecube. And they've never had a console more versatile and with as expansive a library as the Switch IMO.

At least 2'8".

@Grumblevolcano
You know, PS2 was my BEST Sony games ever with huge library of Konami Rhythm games from Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania IIDX, Pop'n Music, Guitar Freaks & Drummania, Para Para Paradise, Keyboardmania. Arcade at home games on PS2 with their peripheral to play.
1st party PS2 games from Sony that i played on their Trilogy remaster on PS3 (Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, soon will be Jak & Daxter) were really great too as Action Adventure games.

3rd party games was really great during PS2 era and i didn't even grow with Gamecube 1st party games, so yeah... My gaming references was completely different.

Rhythm gonna hit your head.

I'm salivating to hear what they have in store for Zelda's anniversary year.

@rallydefault A port of a remaster, what else?

...seriously though, with AoC out last year and BotW2 likely being 2022, I wouldn't expect much of anything for Zelda's 35th. They might not even acknowledge it.

Lol

Grumblevolcano

@timleon Well it's the combination of both systems in those years like Wii U in 2013 was bad until September but 3DS was insanely strong for the whole of 2013 so both combined was a lot. Wii U in 2014 was strong and it was ok for 3DS overall creating a lot.

On the topic of Zelda's anniversary, Pokemon has already called dibs on this year being a big Ninty anniversary with multiple things planned. Nintendo may just numb people with all the talk of anniversarys if they keep hammering home it's Zelda's too. I expect there will be a Zelda release with a mention of Happy Birthday Zelda during a Direct though.

@IceClimbers i expect and hope for the Legend of Zelda 35th anniversary, Nintendo is gonna do a collection with Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, Legend of Zelda Majora Mask 3D, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD, a remake of Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release on Holiday 2021, and a Cross over with Animal Crossing New Horizons.

i like HD Rumble.

So the Atelier Mysterious trilogy is getting a physical release in Asia which includes English support. Pre-orders are open now on Playasia.

Wonder if we'll get a physical release of the Arland games to complete the physical set.
We now have English physical copies for:
Atelier Ryza
Atelier Ryza 2
Atelier Dusk Trilogy
Atelier Lulua
Atelier Mysterious Trilogy
Atelier Lydia & Suelle (A bit pointless to have now with the Mysterious trilogy getting a physical release)
Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists

You're crazy if you don't think we're gonna see Zelda stuff this year, culminating in BotW2 for the holidays. And frankly, I'd pay 60 bucks no questions asked for a quick and dirty port collection of Ocarina, WW, and TP. I love those games so much and just want to have them on my Switch; busting out my 3DS for Ocarina isn't a big deal, but hooking up my Wii U again to play the other stuff... nah lol

If we see a remaster of Skyword Sword or maybe a surprise remaster of another 2D Zelda, then holy cow I will be the happiest guy. But I don't know... I'm not 100% sold on those ideas. I feel like if the SS remake really was happening it would have been in development for a bit now, and there would have been some more substantial leaks just like the Mario collection (I don't really keep up with leaks so maybe there have been). Also, IF Skyword Sword would get the remaster, I could see them using that as the big Zelda game this year and BotW2 being March/Spring of 2022.

But for them to do like one port and just a "happy birthday" to their biggest franchise after Mario and Pokemon stuff... I just don't see that. (I think the Wii Sports series is technically above Zelda but we all know about that lol)

@RR529 woah i totally forgot thanks!
And Kudos to a Minish cap remaster!!
Actually, since dreaming is cost free, I would like a proper Wind Waker sequel.
Nintendo can of course keep the DS ones as canon, I'm not picky.
Announce it in march. Thank you.

@rallydefault Agreed. I love the Zelda series, and would buy Skyward Sword in a heartbeat. And as lazy as a collection sounds (and it sounds like we're both the perfect Nintendo customers), I'd buy it for sure.

@Dezzy Simple, I think that there almost certainly WAS stuff planned, but I also think all of Nintendo's internal development is no less than 8 months behind thanks to COVID, so I don't think they'll have BotW2 ready. Typically, there are concerts for Zelda anniversaries (which can't happen), games (likely delayed to 2022), a book (that might still happen), and some merchandise (which merch has been far less commonly appearing due to COVID). I'd wager their plans have probably fallen apart to such an extent that they'll just release a Tantalus / Grezzo port and MAAAAYBE have NERD release some more emulation and call it a day. And that's not enough to do a celebration.

EDIT: Also, all the blowback and negative press from the Mario celebration might make them more enclined to not even mention Zelda's.
