If I did replay Mario Odyssey, it would mostly stop after the end credits. I don't think there's any game with more than like 30 hours of content where I'm like "let's do that again!".

I’m the same way, but there are exceptions. I replayed Final Fantasy X on Switch. I’ve replayed others but they were all 15-20 hr games (Portal 2, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, plan to replay Mario 3D World, and would gladly replay Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade X if they got ported).
Except Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, which I first played the base game Generations on 3DS, then played MHXX which I imported from Japan, then bought MHGU and put several hundred hours into that.
And Monster Hunter World. Put hundreds of hours into it on PS4, then when it released on Steam and I sold my PS4/X1 and bought a gaming PC, started replaying it, and am already in high rank. If it weren’t for Rise releasing soon I’d still be playing it.
But games like Zelda BotW and Odyssey, ya. One day. But it’ll need to be around 2025 or later. Enough time needs to pass that they feel new again.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Personally, I find Odyssey to be more replayable for this very reason.
Whereas in the previous 3D Mario games you're mostly playing a sequence of levels/missions, for me the collectathon nature of Odyssey opens it up to more casual exploration and discovery. I tend not to have a vivid memory of where each and every moon is, so it feels like I'm discovering them all over again for the most part. By contrast the earlier games are a bit more predictable (and in the case of 64 and Sunshine, sometimes contain levels that I dread doing).
Yeah if you're looking for games with great replayable content, series like Yakuza, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, SMT and Persona are literally the prime candidates in terms of density of content being married perfectly with its ability to be engaging enough you want to replay it
I forgot about Fire Emblem Three Houses. I started a second playthrough on that game because there’s four separate paths. Also Fire Emblem Awakening I’ve played twice because it’s just so good. And Fire Emblem Fates I’ve played twice, one for each main path. And I’ve played DKC Returns 3 times, and DKC Tropical Freeze twice, and a partial save on a 3rd run. And that’s after hundreds of hours in time trials on Wii U.
Typically gameplay focused games are more appealing for replay, because any game that prioritizes story loses its luster after the first time. And even if it does prioritize gameplay usually I’ve had about enough by the time I finish the game, and that’s even if I manage to finish it at all. Final Fantasy X was only an exception because it was ported to Switch. Otherwise I’d never have touched that game again. Same goes for Xenoblade X. If it comes to Switch I’ll replay it, but otherwise I’m just not gonna play it again.
It takes a very special game to get me to replay it. In order for a game to have more value despite having already played it to completion then a brand new game I’ve never experienced, it’s got to be an all time fave, gameplay focused and not story driven (or have multiple paths if it is), and be long enough since I’ve played that it feels relatively fresh. Switch ports help because it’s more exciting playing again on Switch. If a game is one of my all time faves, even if it’s story driven, I may still replay if it comes to Switch. A lot of the games I’ve replayed, that would have never happened if they didn’t make the jump to hybrid.
But I will say this. Zelda Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, Metroid Prime Trilogy... these are timeless classics I will certainly replay at some point down the line, and that’s not something I can say confidently about very many games.

This 1,000%. I've replayed and ultimately gotten more time out of "simple" games than games that just overload you with stuff to do. For me, replay value is weighted much higher than chores.
Honestly the switch’s library is weak to be honest. Too many ports and too few new games. Feels like Nintendo doesn’t put up a effort. Also, it’s ridiculous that they don’t have folders yet. The OS and the online is so subpar after playing Series S for a while now.
I wish Nintendo could chill out with the ports and get seriously with the OS.
I almost never replay really long games. After 60+ hours with a game, I'm ready to move on, even if it means I have to live with a subpar ending or something.
And considering how many good games there are out there, and how little time there is to really experience everything I'm interested in, I don't have a ton of incentive to replay stuff anyway.
Currently Playing: Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition
@Guest88 "Honesty the switch has one of the weakest library of all Nintendo hardwareimo. Half of switch games is wii u ports or cross gen. Nintendo were more creative during WII and Wii u era."
You said this just yesterday. There's either an echo or you just really wana get your point across. We get it dude you don't like the switch library 😉

This is the other thing. If I never bought a Switch game made after today, there's still enough games on Switch I actively want to play but haven't yet to last me for years and years.
I'm really upset at myself for never replaying Wonderful 101, but that's still time being spent on a game I already played (also I'd either have to bring out the Wii U again or pay for a 2nd copy). And a lot of games are like that. I mean, I only played DKC2 again for a 3rd time recently, and I first played that game when it came out GBA like 16 years ago. And that's not even that long a game and is one of my favorites.
The one big exception is that I hope to buy and replay Xenoblade Chronicles 1 on Switch, ideally by its 10 year NA anniversary. The combination of updated visuals and other things and my love for that game could justify another full playthrough for me (especially if getting certain items is less of a chore).
I actually backed the Wonderful 101 remaster on Kickstarter since it was one of those games I felt I needed to check out since I missed it on Wii U as a result of not owning that console
I got the special edition lenticular cover signed by Kamiya and everything as well as an additional Steam copy for the delay in delivery of my physical Switch reward, but I have yet to actually sit down and play it. I got my PC code right when I was in the middle of Final Fantasy VII Remake so I put it on the backburner
Wonderful 101 is an acquired taste, but once you get in the groove it’s a really, really fun game. I go back-and-forth in my opinion of it. Sometimes I feel like it’s the best P* game ever made, other times I feel it’s mid tier. Just depends on the day I suppose. But I have to caution anyone playing it for the first time, to not judge it too soon or give up right away. It really is one of those games where it clicks after a few levels and opens up into a completely different experience. Not to the extent of something like Monster Hunter, where it can take upwards of 5-10 hours before someone really starts coming to grips with the mechanics, but maybe 1-2. It’s worth it though. The game legitimately has the best ending of any game I’ve ever played, hands-down. I can’t even convey why without ruining it, let’s just say it gets so intense and crazy and you are so focused because, the game forces you to lose, but you think it was due to your lack of skill (I only discovered this after beating the game twice), and because of that it just makes you even more focused when you’re doing it immediately after a second time and they throw in the most funny, hilarious scene you could imagine- I was legitimately rolling on the floor laughing the first time I played, and so was my brother who was watching. I had tears welling up in my eyes it was so funny. Well played Kamiya, well played...
@NintendoByNature Of course I am not a fan of switch’s library when many of them are ports I’ve played years back. I would say this is the weakest Nintendo hardware imo. Expected better from Nintendo honestly.
@link3710
Ya know. Another one of those who just come in the Switch forum to tell everyone how much the Switch and its games suck, and do it with extremes like “worst ever”, and then repeat it over and over. Get ready to repeatedly hear how handheld has no value, the system has nothing to offer for someone like them, the games are all ports and worst lineup ever, etc. etc. But for some reason they still want to spend all their time here talking about it.
Oops, look at that. Already said it again, whattaya know...
The Switch's library isn't bad at all. It falls short slightly due to the amount of older games imbalancing the newer content, but truth be told this might be my favorite Nintendo library since maybe the GameCube
It's also the first one for a Nintendo home console since the GameCube in my eyes that actually has good third party support. Not average or passable, but actually good
It's the kind of library that just oozes diversity, and even if I ultimately think the PS4's library barely edges it out due to its highest highs being imo higher than even Nintendo's first party software, this is probably the most all encompassing Nintendo home console library in a long time.
@JaxonH Where did i say Switch and it’s library sucks? Oh wait I didn’t. This coming from a guy with “jesus is lord” on his profile lol
Switch has way too many wii u ports, which I’ve played years ago. Get lost if you can’t handle my opinion about ports and the way Nintendo milk this by charge people the same stuff again.
Your comments thus clearly have insinuated exactly that. When you say things like, “handheld has nothing for me” and “worst library ever” and “I honestly expected better” it’s pretty clear where you stand.
The fact you’ve repeated it 3 times only stresses the point you’ve been trying to make- the system sucks. That’s what you’re trying to say, but in a roundabout way without directly saying it. And that’s fine, you’re free to your opinions. If you think it sucks, I don’t hold that against you. It’s the repetition that betrays your comments as being made in bad faith.
You can’t say “pizza is nasty, I don’t like pepperonis, and cheese makes me barf” over and over again and then claim, When did I say I hated pizza? Clearly you’re not a Christian lol lol rofl 😂 😆 😂 lol”
