@JaxonH I don't think we can deduce anything about the length of Bowser's Fury just by it being in the title as weren't the extra stories added onto the 3DS versions of Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story rather minimal (Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr's Journey)?
The bigger hint that Bowser's Fury is substantial is the fact 3D World + Bowser's Fury isn't a 2020 release. Switch didn't get a big holiday title this year but 3D World + Bowser's Fury could've been the big holiday title and it would've fitted in perfectly with the SMB 35th anniversary celebrations but it's launching in February which suggests Bowser's Fury may have been substantial enough that it got delayed out of 2020.
@Dezzy
Maybe, but I doubt it. Otherwise why not do it for every other Wii U port.
The easier approach that doesnt result in ticking people off is to just add content, and then boldly market it. And the path of least resistance usually wins out. Intentional deceit is too inefficient over the long term. Even EA has recognized this as we see them starting to release games without MTX and free content updates.
So ya, if they're saying "+ Bowsers Fury" it's because they have added something substantial.

@Grumblevolcano
Length? Of course not. But categorization between substantial and non-substantial? That we can do.
Bowser's Inside Story added content being "minimal" is all relative. Minimal compared to what... the entire game itself? Sure, then it was minimal. But compared to an extra character or other negligible content? I'd say its substantial.

Well I would guess that has something to do with how many copies it sold on Wii U, and how much potential for new sales they think it has.
3D World sold 6 million copies on the Wii U. They must be thinking "that's 6 million people, who also happen to be the some of the most devoted fans (given that they bought a Wii U). How do we get them to buy again?"
Perhaps a slightly different situation than Captain Toad, which only sold about 1 million on Wii U.
I'm just speculating of course though. I have no idea really.
Between DOOM Eternal Switch native port running fine and Cyberpunk being a complete mess on base PS4/XB1, something came to mind. As the base last gen consoles aren't much more powerful than the Switch, is cloud versions on the Switch perhaps an indication of what will run very poorly on base PS4/XB1 (e.g. the upcoming Hitman 3).
@JaxonH maybe this Bowser Fury Mode is gonna be similar to the story expansion found in the Mario e Luigi remakes on 3DS, that the impression , Nintendo gave me.
Persona 5 Strikers is up for preorder on the eShop.
I preordered the Digital Deluxe for Persona 5 Strikers, the digital deluxe for Monster Hunter Rise, the digital ultimate edition for Atelier Ryza 2, along with Bravely Default 2 and Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. Also some smaller games like Collection of SaGa Final and the 5 Bit Trip games. But we’ve got some very, very strong contenders coming in the next 90 days or so.
Judging by the sales ranking on Amazon, Persona 5 Strikers on Switch isn’t doing anywhere remotely as good as the PS4 version. I can only hope those who have been wanting the Persona franchise on Switch step up to the plate and back up their words with their wallets.

@JaxonH I feel like strikers won’t do that well. Nintendo only users would only know Joker from smash and maybe Q2. Atlus’ dismissal of fan requests to access P5 on Switch comes off as tone deaf especially since they’ve not really built up a Persona fanbase on Switch. I think they are banking on SMT fans/Atlus diehards and the Marth effect to draw in users. I don’t think that will work as well as they are expecting.
I’m sure they will blame Switch users if the game doesn’t sell.

@korosanbo PC has a better chance of getting P5 or P5R since pc has gotten persona games before. If this game was like 20 years old it would make more sense but P5 was originally a ps3 game. It’s not like Switch can’t run it.
I feel that they actually underestimate the non enthusiast market with this move. Someone that doesn’t breathe video games is going to be confused and if they ask a clerk and are told strikers is a sequel or spin off they may change their minds when the realize the original can’t be found on Switch.
Also Atlus confirmed they won’t be releasing a demo. So this is banking on people in the know or willing to download the JPN demo. Which cuts out a lot of the average consumer.

@Ryu_Niiyama Absolutely agree. Add to that the technically demanding nature of Musou games and it feels like this is set up to flop.
Hell, Switch is my favourite console of all time, and Persona 5 is probably in my top 3 games of all time, and I'm even slightly hesitant to go for the Switch version of Strikers over, say, the PC version.
It's just insane to me that they haven't ported P5 to the Switch. it's the perfect console for it.
When Persona 5 Strikers was also revealed to be coming to PC, the difference in reaction was notable. PC gamers seemed broadly excited about it, because it meant both that they could play another game on their preferred platform AND another opportunity to show companies that they want more PC ports. This sort of collective strategizing is why Steam went from almost non-existent Japanese support a decade ago to being almost the ultimate Japanese game platform today.
Switch owners are vastly better about supporting third parties on Switch than the player bases for previous Nintendo home consoles (post-SNES, at least), but it still seems like a large contingent of players look for excuses not to buy games on Switch and then cry about how much money companies are losing when they start shifting resources to other platforms where their games are selling better.
You know what's going to happen if Persona 4 Golden sells extremely well on PC AND Persona 5 Strikers sells well on PC? Sega is going to lean as hard on Atlus as they need to to ensure future Persona games go to PC. It'll also likely mean older Atlus games get ported, because, at the end of the day, the only thing companies well and truly care about is money.
Atlus isn't going to just port Persona 5 to other platforms willy-nilly because they know it'll damage their relationship with Sony (I don't believe there's an exclusivity deal with them, but there is free advertising, and Sony has demonstrated an eagerness to promote Persona games this gen) and the broader Playstation fanbase.
Which, of course, isn't to say that people who don't want the game should buy it, or even that the ones who do want it 'should' buy it on Switch if they'd prefer the better performing PS4/Steam versions. Get it wherever you like. Just keep in mind that every time you purchase a game on home consoles/PC instead of Switch, you're sending the message: "Fewer games on Switch! More games on [insert platform]!" And if enough people do that, I guarantee the company that published it will hear the message loud and clear.
@Ralizah
As per usual, you’ve explained it better than I could. The difference in response on PC was notable. Pure excitement. While on Switch it’s been mostly indifference. Which is the key differentiator...
If I’m being honest, I’ve noticed this for years, even dating back to Wii U. I remember how much people complained about not getting support from 3rd parties on that system. But when games did release, there was always a reason to not buy it. Some of them valid, some of them not so much. But there was always a reason. And that’s kinda continued all the way to today.
Like, let’s say Persona 5 Strikers was skipping Switch. Let’s say it was PS only, and then it was announced for PC. The response from Switch gamers would be, “why no Switch version? Switch is selling like crazy!” I think it’s a situation of just wanting what you can’t have. Which... hey. People want what they want. Just don’t be surprised when you never see mainline Persona on Switch, but you do see it on PC. Because I guarantee Atlus will see this and think, “huh, guess all that #breakfreepersona and hoopla over a Switch version was just a small minority after all, clearly they’re not interested in this franchise like PS fans and PC fans are”.
And... maybe they’re not. Maybe it’s for the best Persona 5 never comes to Switch. After all, people will probably just find a reason not to buy it also. Either it’ll be, “this game shouldn’t be $60” or it’ll be “why isn’t the DLC included” or it’ll be “its a late port, should have come sooner” or it’ll be “why isn’t it the Royal version”, etc. But chances are, if people are finding excuses not to buy this, they’ll likewise find excuses not to buy that either.
@korosanbo
But that’s not really the case. You don’t have to be familiar with P5’s plot. The game has its own plot, separate from P5. It involves the same characters in the same timeline but it’s a separate story. Anyone can enjoy the game regardless of whether they’ve played P5 or not.
In fact, it’s structured as a Persona game aside from the action combat. You still have your room at Leblanc restaurant attic, you still go through dungeons and have separate enemy encounters like an RPG, you still have the calendar system and spending free time... So anyone looking to enjoy a mainline Persona game, this is it (mostly), This isn’t just a Hyrule Warriors here, this is a Persona game with action combat rooted in HW combat. And it’s not dependent on playing any other game to understand.
You’re preaching to the choir saying the game has no reason to stay exclusive. We know that. Ralizah knows that, but Alus doesn’t. That’s what he’s trying to explain- the perspective of Atlus. They suck at the teat of Sony with Persona and have for years, and will not lightly bite the hand that feeds them unless they’re confident it’s worth doing so. And thus far, Nintendo fanbase has not given them much confidence.

@BruceCM i fear that Bayonetta 3 is secretly in development hell or is cancelled, and Hideki Kamiya is lying to us about the actual development of the game, i expected a trailer for the game at TGA 2020(i got nothing).
@JaxonH@korosanbo If anything, I imagine, at this particular point in history, it'd be harder than ever to break Sony's hold on mainline Persona. Persona 5 has sold amazingly well for an Atlus game. Sony, for their part, seems to push the game on social media and their playstation blog every chance they get. Sony emailed out themes/avatars to people to encourage sales of P5 Royal. There was also a Persona 5-themed special edition PS4 in Japan. That's amazingly premium treatment for a small developer to enjoy.
And then you get veiled threats, like Sony talking about how Persona exclusivity is "important" to them. I'm sure there is a lot more of that now that Persona is becoming an increasingly big deal to the Playstation brand.
If I'm an Atlus exec, do I sabotage a good thing, when we're doing better than ever, to chase an expanded player base on other consoles? I think I'd need to see some hard evidence that p*ssing off Sony would be worthwhile. And, Jax is totally right, Nintendo's base hasn't given them that evidence.
And, look, I get it: the games that Atlus has released on the console to date were never going to be big sellers. For some reason, nobody seems to like Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Catherine has always been kind of a weird and niche thing that doesn't sell super well on any console. But if P5S flops on Switch? If SMT V and/or Nocturne HD don't do well?
All I'll say is this: the Megami Tensei games went FULL Playstation exclusive at one point, and there's no reason that couldn't happen again (on console, at least; PC gamers are probably in the clear if Strikers performs well). Especially with Sony handing out money like it's candy for exclusivity.
I think Persona on Switch is perfectly possible. Atlus isn't Falcom, and they've released games on various Nintendo platforms for years and years. They released the majority of their games last gen exclusively on Nintendo consoles. One of those was a (former) Wii U exclusive, for god's sake. But no company is going to keep developing for a system when its fanbase isn't buying their games, and no amount of angry forum and twitter users with an entitlement complex the size of Neptune are going to change that.
Also, open question to everyone: why does this "I can't play sequels without playing previous games in the series" thing not apply to The Witcher 3? That game is so interconnected with previous games in that series that it constantly drops references to older characters, storylines, plot events, etc. yet I don't hear constant whining about the older Witcher games not being on Switch.
