Animal Crossing bloated a lot of playtimes this year, it seems. I spent less than 30 hours with it, so it didn’t really contribute much to my total. But I’ve seen some people with 2,000+ hours, almost all due to Animal Crossing.
I put around 700 hours into Animal Crossing this year. Managed to squeeze in over 2k hours into other Switch games on top of that though.
I knew I had been using my Switch less as I turned back to PC quite a bit this year, but I didn't realize how much until I saw the year in review thing. I only had 160 hours on the Switch all year, most of which was split between Tetris99 and Mario35. Seems I didn't even use it in November with 0 hours.
This year was pretty big on RPGs and big open world games for me, none of which were on Switch, so all those big hours went elsewhere. Other Nintendo systems got some of the time though as I spent a ton of time on Xenoblade X. And I dove into some classic Dragon Quest on the NES.
The flip side of this being that my family is using it a lot more than ever before, so that kind of turned me off starting anything big on it where I wouldn't be able to use it as much.
Feel like I’m always tired nowadays. Even when I do play games, it seems like after an hour I have to put it in sleep mode and rest my eyes. Even today, planned to game all day, ended up only doing 2 hrs in MH World, an hour in Trials Fusion and half an hour in Super Meat Boy Forever. The in between time was spent reclining and resting.
Think it’s these anti anxiety meds, just knock me out all day feeling fatigued. It sucks. Even when I’m awake, I’m only awake enough to browse the internet, not enough energy to exert in a video game.

@JaxonH I think it's my large backlog that keeps me motivated to keep pushing through as many games as I can more than anything. If I don't then they just keep piling up, haha. I've gotten through a lot of VNs this year where I'm mostly just reading and I tend to play something a bit more involved in between like a rhythm game or roguelite or something. I also take pretty regular breaks for around 20 minutes to just watch a bit of Youtube so not usually just gaming non-stop for hours on end unless I get really stuck into a JRPG or something. I also often don't sleep that much which probably isn't ideal but hey, more gaming time.
The House in Fata Morgana is coming to Switch in Japan next year.
No localization confirmation yet, but considering this game has been out in the West on PS4 and PC for a while, I'd be surprised if we don't get it.
I really like the gothic art and epic scope of the plot in this one, so if we do get an English version, I'll definitely be jumping on that. Switch is the perfect platform for visual novels like this.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@JaxonH Animal Crossing New Horizons is my most played Switch game(495h), followed by the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild(155)that my cousin have lent me, the Super Smash Bros Ultimate that my cousin have lent me(105h), the Bayonetta 2(85)that my cousin have lent me and my Luigi Mansion 3(55h), i recently got my extended battery Switch with Super Mario Odyssey last decembre, when one of my cousins went to USA last novembre close to Black Friday, i only have Luigi Mansion 3, Super Mario Odyssey and Animal Crossing New Horizons as my games, the rest of my games i played this year and 2019, my cousin have lent me.
Most Played Games: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Farming Simulator 17, Pokémon Shield, Saints Row: The Third
Total Hours: 700
Number of Games Played: 39
Yeah... That seems about right. Animal Crossing as the hot new game, and Farming Simulator as the reigning simulation champion always competing to see which takes the number 2 spot of all time (and soon even dethroning Mario Kart to third). Saints Row was new for me, which I have completed in around 35 hours, and Pokémon Shield has that much just from exploring the DLC and a few run to fifty attempts.
Everything else has been even less than that for this year. Looking on my spreadsheet of playtime, every other game from this year that I've played hasn't gone above 15 hours. In the few days that remain of the year, I expect that only Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and LEGO The Incredibles will go above that.
2021 will be a better year. The best LEGO game ever in Skywalker Saga, Monster Hunter Rise, a number of others that I can't think of right now... It'll be a good one for me. Less games I'll buy, but more time I'll play them.
Here was me thinking I had decent numbers to get mocked with... I've only logged in 345 hours with Breath of the Wild, 325 with Xenoblade DE, and 195 with Xenoblade 2. Fire Emblem: Three Houses is next with 170 hours, then Dragon Quest XI, with 135. Hyrule Warriors DE is the same, then Octopath Traveler at 100, then Final Fantasy X/X2 at 90...

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
@Giancarlothomaz
Sounds like you’re lucky to have family to lend you games to play. It also seems you’re pretty heavy into the big 1st party exclusives. Nothing wrong with that. But with next year leaning heavy into 3rd party, are you going to partake? We’ve got Bravely Default 2 and Monster Hunter Rise as big 3rd party exclusives early in the year, for example, with only a port of Mario 3D World on the Nintendo side.

Nice. First time playing the series, I assume? Be sure to drop by the MH Rise forum if you plan to play online. Best way to learn is hunting with others.

Finally beat the main story of DQXIS, turned out the reason I was struggling so much with the final boss was that I was underleveled. Was at level 52 but after grinding XP to level 58/59 via metal slimes the final boss turned out to be very easy.
@Grumblevolcano Really? I beat the final boss (in the floating castle), around LV 49. But if it's the true final boss, I must have been very underleveled too...
