The demo's a bit overwhelming as I never played the Bravely games on 3DS (maybe the prologue that isn't in the demo goes through mechanics at a slower pace than just throw everything at you?) but in general I like what I've played so far.
Will preorder whenever physical version is available to preorder. Preorders aren't up yet despite release date announced back in October so I'm guessing Bravely Default II will get a special edition announced whenever Nintendo decides to have a Direct which actually features games.
do you think is possible Nintendo to release Super Mario Odyssey 2 or a brand new 3D Mario game on Switch in 2021?what the Mario team was doing this whole time? did they developed Super Mario 3D All-Stars?
@Giancarlothomaz Too good to be true. At any rate we'll look back on the dripfeed that was the 2015-2020 era of Nintendo and realise how silly it was. Reading that Polygon interview with Doug Bowser tells me that my God Nintendo was hit by the pandemic in March. But if next year isn't a massive year (because of games being delayed from 2020 to 2021), I'll find myself utterly befuddled
@Giancarlothomaz That Switch pro looks pretty cool - perhaps would've been a nice design for the Wii U era (rather than the freeview box that we got), and definitely looks inspired by the Wii.
Four game carts and a 4k display are definitely excessive though. The Switch likely wouldn't be powerful enough, nor have the battery to, power a 4k display in handheld mode - plus you'd barely notice the difference at such a size (note that a number of high-end phones are still 1080p). Personally I'd prefer to see Nintendo stick to 720p (maybe 1080p) but upping the quality with OLED or something. And personally I'd rather see an additional SD slot than multi-game slots (much more benefit to be had here imo).
A TV-only Switch could happen, but I can't imagine Nintendo making it more powerful than the base model (unless there's already a hybrid Pro already out by that time). Even then, it'd likely be a last gasp revision when the system is on its way out the door.
@rallydefault BDII should be a completely separate story, so I'm not sure why you'd need to play the previous Bravely games.
@JaxonH My intention is to try the new Bravely demo just as soon as I can stop playing Mario Galaxy. With that said, that has been my intention for the last few days.
@rallydefault
I’d say that’s not a bad thing- the first two on 3DS were good games. Then again, you probably don’t wanna mess with the first, specifically. As good as it is, it kinda makes you replay everything, which turned a lot of people off.
But, Bravely Default II starts a new story with new characters, and is not dependent on the first two. So you really won’t have a need to play the previous games if you don’t want. Not that you shouldn’t want to- they’re good games, just that you shouldn’t feel compelled.
@Ralizah
Hearing how glued you are to Mario Galaxy makes me want to pick it back up. Maybe I will. I’ve got the next 2 weeks off for vacation. Are the star bits super necessary, btw?
@Ralizah The TV only Switch will be this gen's equivalent to the Wii Mini, and probably come out after the next gen system. It'll probably be digital-only though (and not cut out internet this time). Probably sell it for like, 100-150, and still make a good profit given the lack of (touch)screen, dock, ambient light sensor, disc drive, audio jack, etc.
@JaxonH Been a while since I played through Galaxy, but I'm pretty sure the Star Bits are just optional... but you won't be able to help yourself collecting them because they're so sparkly and make such a nice sound as you swoop them up 🤩
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@JaxonH you'll need the star bits for a few 'secret' galaxies and level shortcuts and I think also for a few secondary exits. They're used to feed the Luma's. You don't need to many of them for those purposes though. Besides that, they're helpful in certain in-game situations and boss fights. I can give you more details on that if you want. This becomes an issue if you're planning on playing on your lite I guess. If you're playing split joy-con mode, you'll almost automatically collect more than enough of the stars by just playing the game and point the right joy-con to the TV every now and then.
@NintendoByNature
Glad to hear you loved Dragon’s Dogma. I figured you would- it’s a great game.
Final Fantasy X is my favorite traditional turn based game of all time (though I must say, I’m now curious to see if Bravely Default 2 can surpass it- won’t know for sure til it releases and I play through it, but judging by what I’m playing now, it has the potential to be the best turn based JRPG of all time, at the very least as good as Dragon Quest XI S).
But ya, just thought you may want to grab it while it’s so cheap, given your interest and all. Then again, Monster Hunter Rise (king of the genre) is only 90 days away. May want to just hold off for that.
