@Ralizah Nintendo literally only ever has a chance of winning something if it's related to Mario, Zelda, Smash or Animal Crossing

I'm honestly surprised Fire Emblem actually walked away with an award last year

Sony has always been the company everyone on that awards show has a bias for, but that's not to say it isn't deserved because frankly I thought it was criminal Yuri Lowenthal didn't get best Male Performance in 2018 for Spider-Man.

@Grumblevolcano There is absolutely no way in hell Animal Crossing will win anything other than Best Family Game. GOTY almost always goes to the big AAA narrative-driven single player stuff like God of War in 2018 and Sekiro last year. If not those, then definitely some big trendy title like Overwatch.

Maybe Fall Guys wins best indie? I've never played it but it seemed like all the rage for a few months.

It was all the rage during August, then we stopped caring. It's a really good game, but it got boring after I realized that I needed a college degree to win a Fall Guys Game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy there.

TheFrenchiestFry

Oh boy, Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory launches today in Japan

It's totally just a harmless spinoff game that doesn't have any implications for the next 13 entries I swear

It being on a platform with none of the numbered entries totally means it's non-canon...it's not like the main story campaign takes place directly after KH3's ReMIND DLC....

could Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 don't feature Sheikah tecnology in the game?,and check out severals aspect of Hyrule Warriors:Age of Calamity that could divide the Zelda fanbase(Nintendo where is the tragic and darker ending we expected for this game?)

@TheFrenchiestFry Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 or Bayonetta 3 is almost garanteed to apear at the Game Awards, if both games or one(Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 release next year), what Switch exclusive do you believe is gonna be anounced at TGA?, is a first party Nintendo game or a third party game like Monster Hunter Rise?

@Magician Don't count on it. Mario Golf definitely isn't an announcement that's worthy of The Game Awards. It's not something that's going to actively hype up the people who don't already game on Nintendo systems hardcore. It lacks the oomph that an announcement like Joker joining Smash Bros, Bayonetta 3 or the Hellblade 2 teaser have.

That's more of a thing you'd stick into a Nintendo Direct. Mario Golf just isn't on the level of those other announcements.

@TheFrenchiestFry

I disagree.

A Mario Golf announcement at this year's TGA would be bigger than the Bravely Default II announcement Nintendo fans got during last year's TGA.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

I dunno, a Mario Golf announcement amidst the announcements for what's coming on next gen would be pretty disappointing. Right now is when Nintendo needs to pull out some of the big guns.

TheFrenchiestFry

@Magician Yeah exactly, NINTENDO fans. It still appeals to Square fans regardless, and there are a lot more familiar with Square and that branding than people who strictly only care about Nintendo consoles. Joker worked very much in the same way because while Persona isn't necessarily a game that will resonate with the Nintendo audience for obvious reasons, Persona 5 is a game that has the draw from the mainstream audience to instantly elicit hype when you put Joker in a game as massive as Smash.

The only people Mario Golf would really appeal to, are people who are hardcore Nintendo fans, and The Game Awards doesn't make such announcements that cater to one specific crowd. They're too mainstream for that.

Mario Golf as the big Nintendo TGA reveal would be cripplingly disappointing, lol. That's the sort of thing you pad out the middle of a Nintendo Direct with.

I imagine we'll see more from one of their 'big' exclusives that we haven't heard about in a while, like Bayonetta 3, BotW2, etc. Or maybe something new entirely!

Honestly announcements at the Game Awards that would help Nintendo the most would be something like first look at BotW 2 gameplay, first look at Bayonetta 3 gameplay or debut Metroid Prime 4 trailer (latter has pretty much 0 chance of happening this year) regarding 1st party stuff. On the 3rd party side, stuff like more Monster Hunter Rise info or big multiplatform games coming to Switch.

Thinking about it more, it may make more sense to have a general Direct in November and take a "whatever" approach to the Game Awards.

@Grumblevolcano A big BotW2 infodump would win the night for a lot of people, I reckon. Zelda has a lot of star power. ESPECIALLY after the wild success of BotW reinvigorated the franchise.

I don't expect an info dump. Another teaser would be more likely, but Nintendo would probably share explicit details on their own terms. I can absolutely see Bayonetta 3 though. A teaser that showed brief snippets of gameplay or in engine footage revealing her new design would be more than enough for Nintendo's presence at the event, and would draw in both Switch owners and action game enthusiasts.

I assume Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 are 2022 (or later) games. I wouldn't expect either to show gameplay at TGA this year. BotW 2? Sure, maybe. But would Nintendo want to show alpha footage at TGA, roughly a year before it's expected to arrive in November next year? I'd say SMT V is closer to going gold than BotW 2 is and we probably won't get gameplay footage of that either.
