Nintendo did it again. Delisting a Nintendo Selects Wii U game from the Wii U eshop before the Switch version launch:

Here's the 3D World page to show the purchase for Pikmin 3 is missing:

So now that leaves 3D World and XC X as the last couple Wii U exclusives left that are worth porting to the Switch? Sorry, Star Fox Zero.

Whilst they were lower key releases I'd like to see NES Remix and Star Fox Guard come over, they were two of my personal highlights on the Wii U.

I wouldn't be surprised if Yoshi's Woolly World and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse get a port at some point too.

Today appears to be good news day! Gleamlight is coming to switch on the 20th. Ive been eyeing this since it was announced in December last year.

As a reminder, its that game that looks an awful lot like hollow knight. I really didn't want to spend any money this month aside from crystal chronicles but here we go! I suppose I can wait for a review though.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe in October, Cadence of Hyrule in November. That's a one-two punch PS5 and Xbox SX can't handle. Pfft, Nintendo just won Christmas, my friends. Time for Nintendo to close up shop for 2020, it's in the bag.

@Octane Yeah just like Tropical Freeze before its Switch launch. You can't buy it digitally on Wii U anymore because of the $20 Nintendo Selects price point.

Wow, 3D World $19.99. While Pilotwings Resort 3ds still full price on eshop, $40

With people starved for 1st party content, Pikmin 3 Deluxe will probably outsell every other Pikmin title.

The inclusion of a harder difficulty mode (presumably), + new story content + all the DLC I never bought has me considering double dipping. Doesn't hurt that it's a phenomenal game to begin with.

Since people are discussing the other 4 key Wii U ports, my thoughts on how to improve them.

1. 3D World - Provide easy and hard mode characters. A character like say, Wario with reduced jump height for example might inspire more creative play. Also, adapt the best 3D Land levels alongside it.
2. XCX - QoL, bring in some stuff from XC2 / XCDE. Also, an epilogue story if XCX2 isn't happening.
3. Wind Waker HD - The Wii U version fixed sailing, so I'd love to see this port focus on the rest of the game. Allow items to be added to the d-pad on land and add an extra dungeon into the game (perhaps move a triforce piece into a full size dungeon with a new item). Those two changes alone would be huge in fixing WW's biggest remaining flaws.
TP HD - This ones tough, because the previous HD port addressed most of the games notable issues already. I'd like to see hero mode regain the other 4 lights for each area,. Um... Really, what would sell people is if they overhauled the lighting in the game with modern features I think? With the right touch, it could be made much more atmospheric.

Aaaaanyways, 3D World is probably early next year, and with the lifespan left on the Switch I'd assume WW/TP as a double pack is probably going to happen too, maybe 2022ish. We'll see on XCX, it may happen or it may not based on interviews.

Pikmin 3! Check one off the leaks list. I'm stoked!

What Im not stoked about is waiting 3 months with nothing in between. Surely they have a September game (likely Mario Collection)... you would think? Otherwise that's a 4 month gap between 1st party releases.

Either they're waiting to do a special Mario announcement which also includes 3D World, and just wanted to get Pikmin on the Calendar so people have something to look forward to, or... they're legitimately screwed from C19 and just have nothing else all year.

If it's the latter I'll be extremely disappointed. I have games to play, but I always want more. And this is peak season for Switch so they should have more.

Also, for the record, who cares if they stop people from buying it on Wii U. It's not like they're stopping paying customers from redownloading, and people have had 7 years to buy that game. If they havent wanted it by now on Wii U then they just dont want it. I imagine this prevents accidental Wii U purchases on their browser based eShop store.

Now. The real issue at hand is... I need to see gyro confirmed.

@JaxonH I mean, they'll at least have something for the holidays. Nintendo isn't going to just ignore the biggest retail business season of the year.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PC); Unicorn Overlord (NS)

@Ralizah maybe windwaker HD and 3D world for the holidays. At this point I don't know why anyone would assume they have anything actually innovative for 2020

@sixrings Because, with Nintendo, not announced =/= not late in development. We literally learned about the new Paper Mario game a couple of months before it came out.

Although I'm not expecting anything new new for the holidays. The 3D Mario collection, maybe a month after 3D World Deluxe, seems likely to me.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (PC); Unicorn Overlord (NS)

@JaxonH I'd like to point out that so far they've restored all the digital versions of Wii U games a few months after launch, once the initial boom finishes. So yeah, avoiding accidental purchases seems likely.

I'd wager motion controls are back though, considering the original supported Wii remotes.

@link3710 The Tropical Freeze situation got misreported a lot. The Wii U version was removed from the NA Wii U eshop and never returned meanwhile it was never removed from the Europe Wii U eshop and people used the Europe Wii U eshop as evidence that it was put back up.

Can we just have a moment of silence for Pikmin 4....

..........

.......

And now, let us rejoice! PIKMIN 3 DELUXE BABY!!!

You wanted local multiplayer Bingo Battle? Now it's a real thing! You wanted co-op through the entire game? Got it. You wanted a REAL handheld Pikmin title? Have a seat Hey Pikmin! Daddy's in town.

But wait, there's more! As if all the previous DLC wasnt enough, we get side content on top of it!

Pikmin is here, and there's nothing else out there like it. I've been waiting for this moment- Pikmin on Nintendo Switch, for a long time. And I think it deserves a little celebration. Port or not, this is hype.

Anti-Matter

I don't even care with Pikmin games.
I got interested more on not really popular games instead.

@Grumblevolcano Haha, thanks for the Nintendo Seclects help <33 My fault. My post was ambiguous My point was that I can't believe Pilotwings Resort 3DS is still full price $40 on eshop, while Mario 3D World is $20(originally $50-$60). The amount of development resources to make Mario 3D World must have giant compared to Pilotwings Resort.
