@Ralizah
That explains why the backgrounds look so poor. I didn’t know it was a Saturn game.
I like it so far. The little ghost mascot and Spookies van... kinda charming. I take it no QoL changes in terms of difficulty or saving though? I remember you saying it was really hard.
Gosh dang, permanently spotted my New 3DS screen trying some plastic polish. Now I have to send it out for a replacement to some 3rd party company. And the spare black one had a glass screen protector but I noticed a speck of dust... took it off, tried the extra, didn’t stick the landing. Now I gotta order more. Ugh. Can’t wait to get these fixed and glassed up so I can pocket them without worry. I love the smaller N3DS a lot more than the XL. Games look better, is more portable, just gotta get this addressed. I HATE applying glass. Took me forever to do two Switches and a Lite perfectly. Thought I was home free until next generation... ha! 3DS back with a vengeance. Got some small, round clear rubber nubs and stuck them on corners of inside lid. They stick out father than the normal bumps... it appears the screen shouldn’t touch now unless it was sat upon. Hopefully that’ll work for now.
What about Persona Q, Persona Q2, Devil Survivor 1/2, and Soul Hackers? Which would you recommend? Or, throw in Radiant Historia, Ever Oasis, Tales of the Abyss, or Dragon III CODE VDF? Which games would you prioritize first?

Honestly with my backlog I'm good for quite a while. The only new game coming up this year that interests me really is Lego Star Wars at the end of October.
Right now I'm replaying Ace Attorney Trilogy. After I finish that I plan to go back and finish Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and after that I'll probably play through either Call of Juarez, Hellblade, or Bayonetta 1+2.
@JaxonH Yeah, it's a rough looking game, lol. They improved it on 3DS with a better UI, new animations, new demons, faster loading, voice acting, better framerate when you're moving around its 3D environments, etc. But there's only so much you can do with a game that old without remaking it entirely, and it probably looks 95% the same as its original Saturn release.
The 3DS port has an easy mode, I believe, which is a new addition. Although it doesn't need it: Soul Hackers is about as gentle as classic SMT gets. Still a good deal more challenging than a modern Persona game, of course, but it won't go out of its way to kick your teeth in.
If you own it, the best game for you to start with SMT-wise is SMT IV: Apocalypse. It's an actually pretty easy SMT game (I played on the game's hard mode and barely struggled with it beyond certain boss rush segments) with fun character interactions and QoL improvements that make it the most polished entry in the series to date. Oh, and unlike SMT IV, the game starts out fairly approachable and ratchets up the difficulty gradually. It's a kinda-sorta sequel to IV, but it explains its lore and whatnot in-game, so there's no reason to not jump in with that entry, honestly.
EDIT: If I said any game was hard, it was probably Devil Survivor Overclocked. The game itself presents a stiff challenge the entire time, and it's easy to stumble your way into an ending path that is stupidly difficult.
@Ralizah
I fired up SMT4 before I read your post. I’ll see how it goes. But if it gets rough I may give Apocalypse a try or start up Soul Hackers which I just got a save file going in. Man, 3DS is loaded with good RPGs. Makes me super hyped for the quadruple slammo of SMT3, SMT5, Ys IX and Trails 4 next year. Come. On. WITH IT already.

@JaxonH Can I give you an early game tip that might save you some frustration with the first boss? If so, click the spoiler tag.
Make sure your entire team knows bufu. You won't win if you're not able to continually hit him with that skill. And (this is a more general boss battle tip), make sure you're always maintaining buffs on your party and debuffs on your enemy. For the first boss, if possible, try to have Rakukaja and Fang Breaker, as those will make life immensely easier for you.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Ah, yeah, you were wondering which of those to play first before, @Tyranexx .... I would play IV & VI before X/X2, though If you let me know when you're starting either of those, I could play at the same time
@Cotillion Agree, never could get into Twilight Princess so it wouldn’t bother me, but I do want Wind Waker HD. That game looked amazing with the new lighting they implemented.
@Octane That’s true but you know it’ll sell well enough for Nintendo and will be an easy port for any future gaps in releases. I don’t think we should expect normal service to resume any time soon from Nintendo.
