Anti-Matter

EA will keep continuously want to portray Nintendo Switch as the underdog machines no matter how succesful of Nintendo Switch. Like they want to say if you want a real video game, buy our product on real machine, not that hybrid machine with less power.

While EA continue to use Frostbite engine, Switch will get fewer releases.

Ya, it's inexplicable for some games. Just because Nintendo or handheld versions of certain types of games don't sell AS well doesn't mean they aren't worthwhile.

We're just in a new era where many companies don't WANT Nintendo to exist. Or at most are indifferent. They want the easy money, the "make one version and the multiplat algorithm spits out PS/Xbox/PC versions automatically. Have a team spend a month ironing out the version-specific kinks ---> profit".

The industry's approach has become so lazy and homogenized (and I don't use the term lazy lightly- I'm one of those people who despise reckless accusations of developer laziness), they simply have little to no interest in anything beyond the AAA triplets.

No matter how well the Switch sells, no matter how many mid-tier games outsell other versions, no matter how much the fanbase cries out for certain games... they just don't care. And that sucks because the gaming landscape would be so much richer if these companies would actually treat Switch with the same respect and interest they do every other platform.

But they don't. Assuming Capcom is actually making a new MH for Switch, that would likely be the ONLY actual AAA 3rd party Switch exclusive release of the generation, and even that isn't yet confirmed. We never cared before Switch because, well, there was never truly a huge appeal to play a game anywhere other than the AAA triplets. But now 60 million people have had an epiphany where they realize gaming can be so much more than it is. We WANT more because we've seen the light. And it's frustrating once you've gotten a taste of something better, something more, then realizing the ones who can actually bring that better future to fruition couldn't care less.

So we'll continue on, never truly enjoying the full potential of what hybrid gaming can offer. We'll continue to be forced to play half of the best games available on TVs only, without gyro (at least for consoles- I for one can't do it anymore, and am incredibly grateful that PC at least addresses some of those issues- might not be hybrid but at least games can be played with any controller, with gyro, at 60fps).

The most frustrating part is, until now, most people were ok with Nintendo not having all the 3rd party games, because it was only a secondary console anyways. But Switch has become the primary console for a ton of gamers now, for obvious reasons. And when you have a superior platform experience you want every single game (within reason) to take advantage of it. Naturally, it's frustrating when developers at large just shrug and continue business as usual

Like i have said on previous post, EA = Wicked Step Mother.
EA keep treating Nintendo as Cinderella.
While Anastasia (Playstation) and Drizella (Xbox) got everything nice from her mother (EA), Cinderella (Nintendo) always get the scraps.

@JaxonH It could be Switch being so successful prevents the ultimate dream for big 3rd parties from being realistic, just a guess but I think those wanted Don Mattrick's vision of XB1 to be successful. The death of the second hand market, needing to always be connected to the internet for games to work, not owning anything, everything is cloud or subscription based, etc.

Sony and the general public made sure that didn't happen back in 2013, Don Mattrick got fired and gaming was saved for some time. This time it's Nintendo helping prevent that from becoming a reality.

And in an entirely different way. Idk when the entire rest of the industry collectively decided to just rest on its laurels and declare "good enough" but that's the mindset of literally everyone except Nintendo and Valve nowadays.

We're stuck with 20 year old control schemes that are so bad games literally have to cheat on your behalf to make them viable. "Good enough" they say. As long as gamers remain ignorant to the fact technology has long since surpassed these barbarous relics of a bygone era, why bother trying to elevate the gamers' experience?

We're stuck with the majority of games being developed for a single, homogenized, stationary set top box experience, completely oblivious to the mobile era preferences of people 2 decades into the new millenium. "Good enough" they say.

I'm here to ask you a question. Is a man not entitled to play games wherever he chooses?

"No," says the Playstation gamer, "they belong on the tv"

"No," says the PC gamer, "they belong on the desk"

"No," says the Xbox gamer, "what are games?"

I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose... the toilet.

@GrailUK I don't think it is out yet.

@DenDen - I'm mildly disappointed with EA's support of the Switch over the past few years. Although I'm not a fan of sports simulation games, so the absence of Madden doesn't bother me. I just hope EA considers porting more of their old catalogue. What I wouldn't give for portable versions of NBA Street, Dead Space, SSX, Sim City, Def Jam Fight for New York, etc.

Switch Physical Collection - 1,536 games (as of December 14th, 2025)
Switch 2 Physical Collection - 4 games (as of December 8th, 2025)

Not even so much as a day one patch. What's on the cart is what you get.

@JaxonH Brill. Ordered from Amazon. Honestly, as much as I'm not a huge EA fan of late, if they are going to start supporting Switch properly then I'll buy their games. They have made some good ones lol. (Fifa is still a kick in the teeth to football fans I guess)

Hey. Off topic of what you guys are talking about, but there's something that's been concerning me these last few days. Dead by daylight had a crossover with another horror game I don't want named because I REALLY don't like it, and while I avoid both like the plague, it was important enough to get a video. Does it show up in the general news channel on the Switch, or just Dead by daylights news?

Gyro confirmed for Apex Legends.

Still not my cup of tea, but I love to see it. And it will make the game a lot more enjoyable for those who do play. Fortnite port was ok, but at least it had gyro. Overwatch on Switch is downright brilliant though. Chef’s kiss all the way. It came out at a time people were angry at blizzard and you can see that affecting peoples opinions and reviews about it. Digital Foundry nit picked it to death (unfairly, IMO) when the game looks SO similar to other versions, runs like a dream, had full 720p resolution in handheld and amazing gyro aiming. I still think it’s one of the absolute best ports on the system. And there’s Paladins, which is 60fps with gyro.

I think Apex legends will be a fantastic addition for those who like MP shooters, especially the battle Royale crowd. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this game. Sounds like they really knocked it out of the park with AL. When I see such a great game coming to switch that has Gyro it really makes me want to play it but... I just... I’m not into competitive MP shooters. I love Splatoon, and, I’ll admit I did have some fun with Overwatch for a while. But it’s not really a genre I gravitate towards. Idk. Maybe I’ll check it out.

@A_Kirby_fan Looking at the available Switch news channels, it seems there isn't one for Dead by Daylight so if the news about the crossover appears on any Switch news channel it'll be the general one. All attention for the Switch news channel at this point appears to be on some of the EA stuff (Burnout Paradise Remastered launching today and Apex Legends coming later this year).
