it was kind of a running gag around the Wii U era that Nintendo inexplicably waits until the 2nd trailer to ease people's doubts about some of their games. Feels like that might've happened here too.
My guess as to the rest of the year's main lineup assuming the rumors are true:
May - Xenoblade DE
June - Clubhouse Games, Fighter Pack 6, Pokemon DLC
July - Paper Mario, Deadly Premonition 2
August - Pikmin 3
September - Super Mario All Stars 2, Fighter Pack 7
October - Bravely Default II, 2D Metroid
November - Super Mario 3D World, Pokemon DLC
December - Fighter Pack 8
No More Heroes 3 gets pushed to early 2021. Also throw in 2 or 3 more big updates for Animal Crossing before the end of the year

I swear at times it feels intentional lol. But yeah Nintendo is one of the few companies where their games actually tend to be better than their trailers lead you to believe
Blegh. Kinda disappointing that the rest of the year will be mainly ports of older games... I mean, seriously. I know that I make the Pikmin 4 joke a lot, but this is the fourth year of the Switch, and we still don't have a clue what's going on with Pikmin 4, and if we're lucky we're getting a port of 3. I rather boot up my Wii U again.
I've always said that I hoped Nintendo would invest a bit more in new IPs this gen. And I mean something on the scale of a big Zelda game, or a 3D Mario. And not a side-off experiment like ARMS. But really, at this point I'm hoping for actual sequels to franchises like Pikmin and Metroid Prime; I've already given up on the new IPs.
@JaxonH I wasn’t talking about the Wii u port of 3d world. That’s likely but a collection of 3d Mario I cant see. We will probably get the release of super Mario all stars again

Like the 25th anniversary
While you can't rule anything out because Nintendo, I really doubt they'll re-release the existing Super Mario All Stars on Switch. All those games are on NSO (aren't they?), plus Mario Maker 2 exists, so that really would be a paltry offering that would not celebrate Mario in the way I think Nintendo would like to do.
I'm still on the fence about a Mario collection coming or not, but if it does come, I think it will be more noteworthy than SMB again. Original All Stars might sell 2-4 million (I know I wouldn't buy it, not unless there was something particularly special about it) which can't be sniffed at, but a more contemporary collection is pretty likely to exceed 10 million sales if the offer is good (i.e. Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy 1 & 2 - all with graphical enhancements - Nintendo, don't be Nintendo and insist on releasing them at original resolution etc... please).
I don't see Paper Mario as strong evidence that the 3D Mario leak is real. We've had a game on pretty much every system since the series started, and we're in Year 4 of the Switch's life - the odds were really in favour of PM landing soon.
I seem to remember it came from the same Grubb fellow who correctly predicted both Nintendo Directs too.
And he did say Paper Mario this year, so it's not the same as just "sometime on the system".
I think it means the 3D Mario stuff is pretty much 95% certain.
It's also very unusual to see major game publications reporting on rumors the way they have on these. Especially when Jason Schreir (I'm sorry if I butchered that last name) corroborates. This isn't your everyday random 4chan rumor
You guys are treating the "Mario collection" (or whatever we wanna call it) like it's just some random rumor, as if there's not a huge Mario milestone this year, as well.
Like @JaxonH said, some people are convinced, some people aren't, so let's stop trying to move immovable objects until the announcement happens or doesn't happen lol
I don't think it's off-the-wall-crazy or even necessarily unlikely to happen, but the Switch community has latched onto a lot of "sensible" rumors over time, and I feel like a lot of those have turned out to be baloney.
How often do we go through this?
Someone starts rumor --> Bigger sources pick it up and repeat it --> Switch community gets excited --> Nintendo Direct happens, and rumored game isn't announced --> Switch community is disappointed
I feel like I've seen this movie a million times.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
New Horizons has been, surprisingly, taking up most of my switch playtime, but I still need to make it back to Deadly Premonition. That game is really something else, but in an oddly good way
@Ralizah
Persona 5 never leaked by anyone credible. That was just speculation. Estimating what we as fans think is likely based on what we observe, nothing more.
And Star Fox Racing got out of control beyond the original source because Liam Robertson posted a fuzzy screenshot of the end of SF Command on Twitter, and people started running with it. He said it was just a joke but the damage had already been done and people never realized the full story. Had that not happened it probably wouldn’t have gotten carried away like it did. There’s also the possibility that the game is real and it got canceled. There is a gaping five year window in retros output that they have nothing to show for. But yeah not every single leak pans out. You have to learn to discern when they sound likely and when they don’t. I don’t think anyone was ever really convinced star fox was going to be announced, only that it existed and that it was likely a canceled game from retro.
The reason people latch on, is because we’ve seen all the following
Paper Mario (leaked)
Mario Rabbids (leaked)
Zelda Link’s Awakening (leaked)
Devil May Cry trilogy (leaked)
LABO VR (leaked)
Switch Lite (leaked- even showed the back shell and people said impossible, can’t be real)
Ori and the Blind Forest (leaked)
Cuphead (leaked)
Boxboy (leaked)
Mario Maker 2 (leaked)
Astral Chain (leaked- not specifically but a “Platinum Games title for Switch this year”)
Witcher 3 (leaked)
Spyro Trilogy (leaked)
Pokémon Let’s Go (leaked)
NSMBU (leaked)
Diablo 3 (leaked)
Crash Trilogy (leaked)
Dark Souls (leaked)
The World Ends With You (leaked)
Dragonball Fighter Z (leaked)
LA Noire (leaked)
This isn’t some 4chan leak here. This is coming from major sites who are saying “we can confirm, this is happening”. And not only them, but the source of the Paper Mario leak as well.
People are always disappointed. Even if nothing leaks people are still disappointed because something didn’t get announced that they hoped would. That’s just the nature of gamers.

They will look on Me whom they pierced
@JaxonH I feel like you could probably look back and construct a list of "leaked games/Smash fighters/etc." that never materialized that's twice as long.
If nearly every game gets a "Switch release leak" and/or happens to just randomly end up in someone's list of "leaked releases," then, yeah, you're going to see a lot of "leaked" Switch games.
That's not to say there aren't also a lot of obviously legit Switch leaks. But I think the clarity you see regarding the "leaks" of games that didn't end up happening is more a benefit of hindsight, than anything.
The Mario Collection happening would be cool. It doesn't sound really unlikely or anything to me. But I do want to urge some level of caution before we get another Metroid Prime Trilogy situation, where everyone expects an announcement that doesn't end up happening.

@JaxonH I'd like to point out a ton of that is leaks of ports, which quite frankly is there a port that hasn't been rumored, whether it's come or not? Outside of Crysis, basically every 3rd party title from last-gen and smaller ones from this gen has had rumors prior to its announcement. Most of which were just wishful thinking. Heck, a lot of them (like Diablo) literally drummed up the so-called leaks via social media posts that could possibly be interpreted as the game coming to Switch.
