@ReaderRagfish Nope. I have got to clear out my student loan debt this year as I am preparing for gradschool. However there is no way that I will let all of these lovely games pass me by. Resolution? More money. Thus I gotta step up working again.
It's fine. I usually work multiple jobs but since I'm pushing more professionally and am making more money overall I quit my last part time job...plus it was security and if your coworker are unreliable it is hard to keep a decent sleep schedule. I've started proofreading on the side and writing SSRS reports. But it will take time for me to get enough clients. So I will need a steady paycheck as well. I'm thinking I'll go back into shipping. Fedex got me through college and my mid to late twenties. I'm not a fan but I'm not willing to buy less games or push back my school plans. So back to 90 hour work weeks for Ryu. I don't remember if you were on here about 3-4 years ago but I was spending almost as much as JaxonH (minus the duplicates that he buys, but I was on a sailormoon binge so I am sure it evened out) was/is spending. lol.
Besides I just had a very expensive car repair recently. So I need to replenish my funds.
I'm a "when broke, get a bunch of side hustles" kinda gal. I will say I can't hold down a relationship because of it but gaming is more important than wome- wait that's crazy talk. I can wait on finding Mrs. Right. Ok that is better. In the mean time I have a Dragon Quest Switch to save up for lol.

@HobbitGamer There’s plenty of time for people when you’re in the nursing home
Speak for yourself. I await the glorious day I go into the nursing home and can game 24/7, with plenty of potential co-op partners all around 😁

At the moment, the only games I plan to buy for the switch in the nearish future are Mario Maker 2, Pokémon Shield (both of which I technically already "bought" digitally), Link's Awakening, and Animal Crossing (which are on physical pre-order right now).

@ReaderRagfish You kidding? That's why I love the switch so much! Lunch breaks add up. @JaxonH I learned at the feet of the master. Although my GCU just ended yesterday so that is going to make this hurt my poor wallet.

Listing my buys would like, literally be almost the entire list. So I’ll just stick to the ones I’m most excited for and do plan to actually play more than a little bit.

@NintendoByNaturesigh So, Half-Genie Hero is probably more "linear," but in the wrong ways. The levels are designed like more traditional levels in a side-scroller, but, for whatever reason, the game still requires backtracking to unlock new paths, which is a pain with levels that clearly weren't designed with exploration in mind.
Pirate's Curse is still a "linear" game in the sense that you explore a sequence of stages that progressively open up throughout the game. The environments are vastly more fun to explore, though, and are designed with more of a respect for player agency. There's still backtracking, but it feels more natural here. Additionally, the music, gameplay, writing, characters, challenge, etc. are all fantastic in this game, whereas I felt many of these elements were sort of anemic in Half-Genie Hero.
Pirate's Curse is a fun game. A bit like a 2D Zelda game in the sense that you use abilities to access new environments and have to complete small quests to progress. Unless you're totally unwilling to engage with anything that's not purely linear in design, I think you'll really dig it.
I don't usually push my opinions on stuff too hard, but Pirate's Curse is SUCH a better game than Half-Genie Hero. We're talking best game in the series vs. worst game in the series.
@Ryu_Niiyama Witcher 3 was dated for November? I didn't recall seeing an actual release date.
I wish I had the time to play that many games. As it stands, I'm going to struggle to complete the handful of releases I mentioned earlier. There needs to be more hours in a day.
I'm just grateful that there isn't as big of a gap in Japanese releases this time. My import lists used to be huge.

@Ralizah sounds good. Thanks for the info. I really dislike back tracking in games unless it's seamless and not a total waste of time. Maybe I'll snag pirates curse. Appreciate the feedback as usual.
More realistically, it makes sense given that the base version of Half-Genie Hero doesn't include the DLC (I believe; I kickstarted it, so I got access to the DLC regardless). And there's a LOT of DLC content in the game.
@NintendoByNature I will mention that most of Half-Genie Hero's DLC modes don't include backtracking, and play like linear, arcade-style games. Just something to keep in mind.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Hah, I'd expect them to value the base adventure just as much if not more than their previous game (which was also a single campaign). Pricing it lower because it has dlc is kinda like admitting the DLC should be considered part of the main game.
I personally really like Pirate's Curse. 1/2 I found a bit... Annoying? I reached a part with a forced "go up quickly or die" section and then lost interest.
Also they made the shopkeeper look a bit silly in the new style.
