@Diogenes I wouldn't sat wait until E3 since Nintendo bas already said they are only talking software there.

@IceClimbers I'm expecting it to be a good retro console. But I still want confirmation. Hopefully Sega produces enough stock that I don't need to preorder to actually acquire one.

Nintendo lies all the time. It’s hard to believe them when it comes to most stuff.

They dont "lie" all the time. They answer in a way that doesn't give away their plans.

Such as "we have no plans to announce any hardware at E3". Notice the "at E3". Doesnt mean they won't announce it the week after. Or the week before.

And alot of other things are time sensitive. No, we're not dropping price [aka "we're not dropping price now, but very well might in the near future and when we're ready to we'll let you know].

In general, Nintendo says whatever they think they need to say to protect sales in the short-term, even if that misleads people about their plans in the immediate future.

We definitely won't hear about a Switch revision at E3. They'll likely just dump the news randomly at some point.

They said that at an investor's Q and A though and it is illegal to lie to investors.

they said that at the time, they had no plans. plans change. a lot. i’d hold off until e3 to make any decisions. however i bet if something IS announced at e3, it’ll be a few months before it hits shelves, and you said you’d still buy a switch in that case, so. idk.

Yeah Switch Mini is not gonna be announced at E3 but could be demonstrated if announced before then. I wouldn't expect it in a direct either. Just randomly announced with online video and press release when Nintendo deems the time is right?

If they don’t have currently drafted plans, and they say they don’t have current plans, that’s not a lie. They could even issue a statement to investors today to the affect of “after examine things, we have decided to make plans” and they wouldn’t be in trouble.

The only illegality is if they had a marketing plan already in place but said they didn’t. Then it’s still a matter of determining the implementation versus statements made. It’s not nearly as cut and dry as “you said this but did that”.

That’s also why investment is a risk system.
At the end of the day, no company would turn down the chance to avoid profit stagnation.

Nintendo hasn't lied at E3 so far.

"Games focusing on 2017." Games did indeed focus on 2017, some beyond.

"2018 games including Smash". That indeed happened.

Why should we believe this is wrong now?

When was the last time hardware was revealed at E3 anyways? The Switch wasn't, the New 3DS wasn't. The NES Classic wasn't. The SNES Classic wasn't. I'm pretty sure the last time it was was when the Wii U came out. I highly doubt the Switch revision would debut at E3 at this point, or any classic system.

I don’t know, if a person is misleading by saying something will happen when they know it won’t, I’d generally consider it a lie, besides I wasn’t even talking about it in this specific case or with the investors meeting stuff. I was just pointing out that Nintendo does this all the time with things so it is hard to take them seriously. We can discuss semantics but it was not meant to be taken as a specific comment

@link3710 Wii U in 2011, only Microsoft seems to believe E3 is the place for hardware announcements nowadays.

With companies its best to take what they say at face value. Especially when their track record is being blunt. There hasnt been any hidden meanings or ambiguity in their marketing. What they say is what you get.

And I like it that way. Makes a change from how it used to be.

Im expecting at least two games to be delayed at E3 though and Daemon x Machina is probably one of them...

Nintendo holds their cards close to their chest. And usually when they say stuff they mean exactly what they said, nothing more, nothing less. People have a horrible tendency to assume things.
And I don't think I have ever seen a lie from them. They do however quite often say they have nothing to announce, which definitely isn't lying, but is exactly that.

Nintendo has always been pretty straight forward. If you take what is said at face value and don't make assumptions you won't be disappointed. The issue is people expect a company to reveal everything just because they ask and they try to "read between the lines" where there is nothing hidden. I've never understood the tendency to not take things literally or people that don't speak in literal terms (say what you mean, mean what you say. otherwise why speak? a bark could convey your message just as well if you expect someone to infer your meaning.) but ok. Either way, looking forward to E3.

A couple days ago THQ Nordic finalized the purchase of German developer Piranha Bytes. I suppose we can look forward the Switch release of the Gothic seres, the Risen series, and ELEX somewhere in the future? THQ Nordic has been teasing some announcements for E3. TimeSplitters: Future Perfect coming to Switch sounds like a lock.
